  1. This week the correct answer is game of Thrones.

Most series could be pulled out of their city and placed in another with little to no trauma to the plot. Thrones could only take place on Westeros. Plus, while many think the story is about Dany or the Stark kids, the story is really about the Seven Kingdoms as much as any character.

SATC! It's about the four girls, but NYC is definitely the 5th character.the stories could take place anywhere, but the writers made NYC a part of the show from day 1 and fully captured the perfection of it. I'm a New Yorker and the show made me love NYC even more

  3. Sons of Anarchy - Charming.

  4. I'm wavering between White Collar and Burn Notice, both of which are centered pretty much on their cities because the main characters rarely get to leave them.

Either Arrow or Game of Thrones. Usually creating a fictional area forces extra focus on the setting.

  6. You can take the people out there but you can't take the Island out of ....LOST!

  7. LOST, Battlestar Galactica, Game of Thrones, and Smallville.

  8. Definitely Lost, but GoT is also largely about Westeros.

  9. SatC for sure, it's in the name!

  10. Game of Thrones... Lost would have been another likely contender if it was listed, but as it wasn't I could make an easy choice.

  11. Definitely GoT! Ya,BSG! Its just like LOST, there is no other place where it would work...!

  12. As people are saying, Lost . Here is why the answer is NOT The Good Wife: a few episodes ago, everyone was mystified about a certain bird printed on a license plate, not recognizing their own state bird, the cardinal. There's one on my own Illinois plate.

  13. 12 series that would be completely different if they were set elsewhere :

    1 - The Wire (Baltimore).
    2 - Breaking Bad (Albuquerque).
3 - The Shield (Los Angeles).
    4 - Southland (Los Angeles).
5 - Rescue Me (New York).
    6 - Louie (New York).
    7 - Dexter (Miami).
    8 - Justified (Harlan).
9 - True Blood (Bon Temps).
10 - Sons of Anarchy (Charming).
11 - 24 (Los Angeles, Washington, New York : yes, it changed in seasons 7-8 but the city has always played an important part within the show, the real time aspect and various chases helped with that).
    12 - Californication (Los Angeles).

I have a hard time including places like New New York (Futurama), The Island, the Galactica or Westeros among the list. Obviously, there is no show without these locations, but given that they take place in a made-up world, different than ours, I just can't rank them among the real ones — I know Bon Temps and Charming don't exist either, but most importantly they're set in Louisiana and California and it shows.

  15. out of the shows that I've watched on this list, gotta go with GoT

  16. Game of Thrones, and I would add LOST.

  17. Burn Notice.

  18. OUAT the town of Storybrooke is integral to the Stories in our world.

  19. I'd have to pick Carrie Diaries/Sex in the City - can't quite see either show being what they are set anywhere else.

  20. Smallville, Gossip Girl and Buffy I think had the cities and the stories integrated a lot. Other than Arrow I haven't seen any of the other shows above so I voted Arrow but I think there are others where the city was an important 'character' on the show.

  21. Lost!!! The island was a character. There would be no show without the island

  22. Hear, hear!

  23. I'd have to throw in my vote for LOST. Someone else mentioned you could change "Westeros" to any other name and still get GOT. And I love GOT.
