Oh my 'bleeping' god, this looks so 'bleeping' good. I think this could definitely work for the CW. Finally Klaus can have the power he craves that he certainly doesn't have in Mystic Falls.
I like it! I'm not big on Klaus and I see he's already on the path to destroy people's lives again, but Phoebe Tonkin and Claire Holt will make me like it!
I was already curious about this potential spinoff but now I'm looking forward to is simply as break from enduring switched-off Elena's violent tantrums.
I'm with you but you should be forewarned that Plec has already mentioned that she envisions The Originals series as one long road to redemption for Klaus.
Much as I love Rebekah and Elijah, they're not enough incentive to sit through a show about Klaus, his angst, issues and drama. Dunno if I'll check it out.
Like others wasn't sure what I thought of this but it looks interesting and if the whole series in filmed in New Orleans I'd be so stoked about that, plus that new black guy is sexy as hell. :)
A long slow meandering backroad is cool with me. :) I was actually worried that they'd immediately saddle him with a Lexi-type and start whining at us, this makes it seem like they've got other ideas, exciting ideas, non-mopey ideas.
I support the spin-off for two reasons: 1. TVD is finally finally getting rid of Klaus and can become again the great show it was in S1 and 2. 2. I'd like to see Cami and Klaus. I'm interested in the human that not only keeps Klaus interest, but also actually survives him (for a while at least).
I think the slow, meandering back road is the path they'll take. I don't foresee the interference of a Lexi type either. One thing I'm becoming more certain of is that I believe Plec has her mind set on Klaus and Caroline eventually ending up together.
Klaus sees that someone has something he wants. He kills that person for taking what he wants or just to prevent that someone is happier than he is. And although I said it 100 times before I have to repeat: Who's fault is it that he is alone? That he has no family and friends? He started the war in his family. And he keeps on killing everyone he meets. No wonder everyone hates him and no one want's to be by his side (unless he uses compulsion, the sire bond or threats).
He's a great villain. But to tell you the truth, I liked the show in S1 and 2, before Klaus became regular. S3 was (almost) a disaster (in 20 of the 22 eps they tried to kill Klaus and they failed and tried again. It was so boring). S4 is better, but I will be glad when he is gone. But I am interest in Originals. Mostly because of Cami. How does she manage to keep Klaus interest and survives to tell about?
I don't think it's gonna work. JP already tried to change Klaus and failed. And even if he takes it slow, I don't see it. As much as I hate Klaus, I think that changing him would ruin the character. It would destroy him. Or maybe not. I don't know. Joseph is a great actor. And if Nina manages to play the human Elena, vamp Elena, emotionless Elena and Katerina, why shouldn't he be able to play a more humane Klaus?
I have to flat out disagree with you here. If Julie Plec is serious about implementing the advice Damon gave to Klaus, then Klaus will be just fine. As far as Caroline / Klaus working out, I've come to grips with that. The bottom line on that issue is (regardless of viewer opinion) if Plec wants it to happen, she'll find a way to make it happen and Julie Plec sure as hell talks like she's intent on doing it.
I like it!! I isn't consumed w/ feelings and whining humans. The power and mythology can really be shown. Seeing the vampire world w/o Elena is very refreshing!
Hmmm....I liked the show better in the start aswell. But to be honest it has very litlle to do with Klaus (he is what have made the last season ok to watch). The characters that was interesting in the start they have not managed to keep interesting. Elana and Stefan, Tyler, Bonnie and Jeremy doesn´t interest me anymore, sadly. If I stop watching TVD I will miss Caroline and Damon, but not all that much.
I really like Klaus and Rebekah and find Elijah mildly interesting, so I´m hoping for a good show.
Klaus was great in S2 and at the beginning of S3. I also liked the other members of the family. Becca, Elijah, Esther, Kol (seriously, this show has great actors). But somewhere in the middle of S3 it got boring and annoying. They planned how to kill Klaus and they failed and made new plans and failed again. The entire season could have been named "Kill Klaus". And all the while Klaus was killing and threatening Elenas friends. It was always the same pattern, we were running in circles. The originals are interesting, but they are forced into TVD by now (at least it's how I get it. Every time Klaus plans to leave, something happens and he stays. First he returned for answers, then he needed Elenas blood, then miraculously a cure for the newly turned vamp Elena appears). They came, they did their part, but now I think it's time they leave. TVD should finally close the chapter that started in S2 and begin a new one. Interesting characters? You too think JP it ruining the best characters? Bonnie was great in S1. She was a good and loyal friend. But by now she's pissing me off. How stupid can people get? She lets everyone manipulate her and rather listens to complete strangers than her friends. And Caroline. She was one of the best characters after she turned. But now she's the greatest hypocrite in MF. Flirting with Klaus and lecturing Elena about Damon? Seriously? I would only miss Damon. As I said, Caroline is not one of my favorites right now. Especially after tonight. She goes to Klaus? Seriously?
Klaus could never change. What is his character like? If he wants something, he takes it. And if he has to kill his own family to get it, he'll do it. If anyone says or does something he doesn’t like, he kills that person without hesitation. If someone works against him, he not only kills him or her but also the entire family, if he feels like it. He daggered his siblings for centuries cause they disagreed with him. When he want's something, he uses compulsion or threats without hesitation. That's how he is. That's how he was for 1000 years. You really think he can change? He doesn’t know any other way to bind people to him than compulsion or the sire bond. O.K. Caroline is the exception, don't ask me why. He doesn’t know how to get people to cooperate with him, do as he says, but compulsion or threats. If there is something he wants or needs, he doesn’t talk. He kills someone and says "If you don't want more corpses lying around, do as I say" Klaus can't accept that a relationship (any relationship: family, lovers, friends) means taking and giving. He only thinks of himself. That is why I have my doubts he can change, even if he would like to. And I know that JP finds a way to make things happen the way she likes too. And that is why I think she's absolutely incapable to do this job. She changes rules and characters as she pleases. It's like George Lucas would say "Let's replace the jedi lighsabers with bows and arrows" just cause one day he woke up and thought it would be great to see Luke or Anakin with a bow in his hand. It's like Joss Whedon would decide Buffy should kill with guns and silver ammo cause after 4 seasons or so he thinks stakes are too old-fashioned. What she does makes no sense. The originals need rings. Why? The sun burns them, but it doesn’t kill them? Does that make any sense? And only a white oak stake can kill them? And then there is suddenly a cure no one ever heard off? And why is the dagger ineffective on Klaus? Cause he's wolf? Aren't the daggers of silver?
Katherine is back,Katherine is back,Katherine is back,Katherine is back!!Yes yes yes!!! I'm looking forward to meeting Marcel.I want to see how he and the other vamps control New Orleans. They seem to be having a blast!!Enough with the brooding vamps! However,I'm not interested in Klaus and his desire to be king.I'm sick of his whining and his obsession with dominance. No character development, just the same storyline again and again and again...Klaus just get over it!
Exactly. I liked Bonnie in S1 and partly in S2. But in S3 and 4 she got so stupid and naïve, I could kill her. And Caroline. I didn't like her in S1. In S2 she became my favorite. But since she started flirting with Klaus I again began to hate her. JP is ruining the characters. She should do something and change them back.
I hope Bonnie moves far away, I just don´t like her.
As for Klaus and caroline. I like that they are flirting. Well, I did in the start, but now that we know that it is not going anywhere (he is moving to a different show) it just seems like they have dragged it out for way to long for no reason at all. I feel the same about Damon/Elena/Stefan. They drag it out so much that it get´s annoying.
Agree on Bonnie. Just let her go. Move, die, whatever. Klaroline: Well, I liked them flirting in S3. Cause I hoped she could be for him what Elena was for Damon. That she could help him, show him a different path. But every time I hoped he could change, I was disappointed, so I gave up. As I already posted (somewhere), JP is totally ruining Carolines character with the Klaroline thing. And for what? For a one night stand? Cause even if Klaus wouldn't leave after this season, it would have never worked. Cause he just can't stop killing and threatening Carolines friends. You know what I just realized? That this Klaroline thing is one of the things that totally divides the fan base. I haven't met one fan who said he doesn't care if they come together or not. They are either 100% for hooking them up, or 100% against it. Well, I'm 1000000% against it. DamonElenaStefan? Well, their triangle is one of the basic storylines, even in the books. She moves from one brother to another and back, so it doesn't surprise me that it's like that in the show.
Nah. It doesn´t surprice me either (never read the books), but it still seems so dragged out. I don´t know...I just lost interest in that triangle. I use to hope for Damon/Elena, but I don´t even care now. I understand what you mean about Klaus and Caroline. Right now I just want his show to be a succes so we can move on.
Klaus was great in S2 and at the beginning of S3. I also liked the other members of the family. Becca, Elijah, Esther, Kol (seriously, this show has great actors). I would only miss Damon. As I said, Caroline is not one of my favorites right now. Especially after tonight. She goes to Klaus? Seriously?
- "Klaus could never change." - "She changes rules and characters as she pleases." You contradict yourself and prove my point at the same time. On a series helmed by a person known for character inconsistency, saying that any character could never change is rather short sighted. We've both spent the past season pointing out character hypocrisy and character inconsistency and I don't think any character is immune to that and that includes Klaus.
S3 was partly interesting. Klaus army and the war against him, I also liked the other members of the family (the reunion was great). That was my problem with S3. Not Klaus or his family, but the fact that producers and writers were incapable to make an interesting storyline. And although I think S4 is better (cause it actually has a storyline), I have the feeling Klaus is forced into TVD by now (at least it's how I get it. Every time Klaus plans to leave, something happens and he stays. First he returned for answers, then he needed Elenas blood, then miraculously a cure appears). That is why I want him to leave. I have the feeling the TVD story is adjusted so he fits in. It may be just me, but that's how I feel.
You got me wrong. People do change. They evolve. All the time. This goes for real life as it goes for shows. But the changes JP makes sometimes make no sense. For example, it made sense with Elena. She was thru a lot in S1 and 2 (her boyfriends was a vampire, people kept on dying, Isobel, Katerina, Klaus, Jenna, …). The only way for her to deal with it, or should I rather say, the only way for her to survive was, to become stronger, tougher. And she did. If you compare weak whiny Elena in S1 to the tough Elena in S3. It also made sense for Caroline after she turned. When she was human, she was insecure and defined herself thru her friends, boyfriend, image, … When she turned she had to reinvent herself and she became stronger and more self-confident. But what is happening with her now, doesn't make sense. There is no logical explanation for why she should forgive Klaus, forget what he did and be with him (after all he did to her). He's hot, true. And he gives her expressive gifts. But I don't believe she's that shallow. So, what other reason could there be? It's not like he did anything to prove that he's such a nice and decent guy. Bonnie also makes no sense. Her friends need her and depend on her, so she should have become stronger with the seasons, and self-confident, but she became the opposite. She's weak and insecure (unless it comes to her magic) and lets every stranger manipulate her, but she doesn't listen to her friends or parents. It would make sense that after 2 years she knows who she can trust. Her friends. So, why doesn't she? Some changes make sense. Mostly from S1 and 2. But lately they barely make sense
Heh. Now you got me wrong. What I'm saying that JP has proven that she's willing to implement character growth and character evolution even if it doesn't necessarily track with that character's history. It doesn't have to make perfect sense. It only has to fit her plans.
"It doesn't have to make perfect sense. It only has to fit her plans." Now we're on the same page. I'm saying since S3 that she's ruining the show with her way. She changes rules and characters, makes up things that make no sense, so she can get her way.
I wouldn't say she's ruining the show but I would say that she freely compromises character consistency and continuity to suit her own needs and that does lessen the overall quality of the show.
Looks very good! I hope they focus a lot on Rebekah too (not necessarily on this particular episode, but on the series as a whole when it gets picked up). Almost here!
Klaus could never change. What is his character like? If he wants something, he takes it. And if he has to kill his own family to get it, he'll do it. This episode looks AMAZING! After watching this I'm liking the idea of the spin-off, I think it might work. :)
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for the video to show up....
ReplyDeleteI agree, actually looks ok
ReplyDeleteKlaus wants it all...surprise surprise :D
ReplyDeleteIt's there now. Just refresh the page :) Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit unsure about a spin-off but this back door pilot for it looks really good. Can't wait for this episode and for the possible spin-off :)
ReplyDeleteAs expected awesome promo, and awesome preparation for The Originals. The series will be definitely interesting.
ReplyDeleteOh my 'bleeping' god, this looks so 'bleeping' good. I think this could definitely work for the CW. Finally Klaus can have the power he craves that he certainly doesn't have in Mystic Falls.

ReplyDeleteI was already curious about this potential spinoff but now I'm looking forward to is simply as break from enduring switched-off Elena's violent tantrums.
ReplyDeleteHe** Yeah.
ReplyDeleteWasn't sure where they were going to go with it. But this I like!! Power struggles instead of redemption arcs is so tasty good.
Hell yeah!! I'm in!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you but you should be forewarned that Plec has already mentioned that she envisions The Originals series as one long road to redemption for Klaus.
ReplyDeleteI was always intrigued by the idea for the spin off but wasn't 100% sure it would work until now. This looks so fucking awesome!
ReplyDeleteSame with me.I loe this promo and Fall Out Boy too much to miss this episode!))
ReplyDeleteKlaus is my favorite on TVD, so most likely I will stop watching TVD and watch The Originals instead. Looks good!
ReplyDeleteMuch as I love Rebekah and Elijah, they're not enough incentive to sit through a show about Klaus, his angst, issues and drama. Dunno if I'll check it out.
ReplyDeletethis show is seriously going to be awesome who doesn't love Klaus so what if he's evil
ReplyDeleteLike others wasn't sure what I thought of this but it looks interesting and if the whole series in filmed in New Orleans I'd be so stoked about that, plus that new black guy is sexy as hell. :)
ReplyDeleteThey shot some footage for the episode in New Orleans but, if it's picked up to series, The Originals will be filmed primarily in Atlanta.
ReplyDeleteA long slow meandering backroad is cool with me. :) I was actually worried that they'd immediately saddle him with a Lexi-type and start whining at us, this makes it seem like they've got other ideas, exciting ideas, non-mopey ideas.
ReplyDeleteSo cool! Nice promo! Can't wait to see what happens! :D
ReplyDeleteHe want's what he (already) has and what everybody else has. Really shocking hews.
ReplyDeleteI support the spin-off for two reasons:
ReplyDelete1.

Uh, I´m gonna like that. Haven´t watched the latest episode yet. I´m at work and will watch it later.
ReplyDeleteIt´s a shame that nobody likes the characters anymore, they really need to do something about that.
Exactly. I liked Bonnie in S1 and partly in S2. But in S3 and 4 she got so stupid and naïve, I could kill her. And Caroline. I didn't like her in S1. In S2 she became my favorite. But since she started flirting with Klaus I again began to hate her.

I thought season 3 was pretty good. Granted their failed attempts to kill him were getting old but now that their not trying anymore, Im okay with it.
ReplyDelete- "Klaus could never change."

We've both spent the past season pointing out character hypocrisy and character inconsistency and I don't think any character is immune to that and that includes Klaus.
S3 was partly interesting. Klaus army and the war against him, I also liked the other
ReplyDeletemembers of the family (the reunion was great).
ReplyDeleteSome changes make sense.
ReplyDelete"It doesn't have to make perfect sense. It only has to fit her plans." Now we're on the same page. I'm saying since S3 that she's ruining the show with her way. She changes rules and characters, makes up things that make no sense, so she can get her way.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say she's ruining the show but I would say that she freely compromises character consistency and continuity to suit her own needs and that does lessen the overall quality of the show.
ReplyDeleteIt does lessen the quality of the show. To me it does. And many fans were complaining about S3.
ReplyDeleteI hope she stays with Damon :)
ReplyDeleteYep, me too. Hope they get a real story together though and some happy times.
ReplyDeleteLooks very good! I hope they focus a lot on Rebekah too (not necessarily on this particular episode, but on the series as a whole when it gets picked up). Almost here!
ReplyDeleteKlaus could never change.
ReplyDeleteThat's how he is.
