Rating/Share
ABC 9.2/15
NBC 7.1/11
Fox 4.7/ 7
CBS 3.3/ 5
CW 0.6/ 1

----------

-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Monday 4/03/12
NBC: +16, Fox: - 6, CW: -14, ABC: -17, CBS: -62

----------

-Winners:
“Dancing With the Stars” (ABC), “The Voice” (NBC), “Castle” (ABC)

-Losers:
“The Carrie Diaries” (CW)

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
It was the battle of “Dancing With the Stars” on ABC versus “The Voice” on NBC last night, with all repeats on CBS out of the competitive loop. ABC won the evening in the overnights, as expected. And NBC will, no doubt, reign supreme among adults 18-49 (and other key demographics).

Two-hours of “Dancing With the Stars” led the evening in the overnights with a 9.9 rating/15 share from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, however, this was a loss of 20 percent from the 12.4/19 on the year-ago night. Competing “The Voice,” in contrast, built by 25 percent year-to-year with an 8.6/13 (versus a 6.9/10 on 4/02/12). One year earlier, “Dancing With the Stars” held a 79 percent advantage over “The Voice” in the overnights. Last night it was only 15 percent, and this, no doubt, will lift “The Voice” to a greater lead in the demos. Welcome Usher and Shakira!

The 100th episode of “Castle” on ABC dominated the 10 p.m. hour with a 7.9/13, which was just six percent below the 8.4/14 one year earlier (with stronger lead-in support from “Dancing With the Stars”). But competing “Revolution” on NBC, which trailed with a second-place 4.2/ 7, is still the drama to beat among adults 18-49 in the time period. Comparably, retention for “Castle” out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of “Dancing With the Stars” (10.1/15) was comfortable at 78 percent. But “Revolution” out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” (9.1/14) held only 46 percent. Regardless, you can expect a second season of “Revolution” next season.

Third overall for the evening was compatible Fox duo “Bones” (#3: 4.7/ 7) and “The Following” (#3: 4.6/ 7), which compared to year-ago occupants “Bones” (5.6/ 9 on 4/02/12) and “House” (4.5/ 7) was down by an average of just six percent.

Elsewhere, CBS sunk to the distant No. 4 spot with its encore combination of “How I Met Your Mother” (#4: 2.9/ 5), “Rules of Engagement” (#4: 2.8/ 4), “2 Broke Girls” (#4: 3.3/ 5), “Mike & Molly” (#4: 3.3/ 5) and “Hawaii Five-O” (#3: 3.7/ 6). And The CW barely resonated with its pairing of “The Carrie Diaries” (#5: 0.7/ 1), which only proves the lack of value of doing a prequel, and a repeat of “Hart of Dixie” (#5: 0.4/ 1).

About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) we post the TV Ratings for the previous night.

The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).

Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.

  2. Good to see Castle dominate and Revolution staying strong! :)

  3. So happy to see Castle doing well!

  4. unfortunately these numbers mean nothing. Castle should get much more ratings than it always gets, but amaze me what you prefer to watch on tv.

  5. Castle!! I just want my favorite show not to be cancelled.. as long as possible. :(

  6. Happy for Castle !! I just want the number now =)

  7. Season 6 is a lock for renewal. Dont worry :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. I agree with Rida. It's one of Abc's highest rated shows.

    ReplyDelete
  9. come on!!! it was #Castle100th, what happend??? only 2.2 ? I was expecting that, but It sounds no good for the future of the show. sad.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm not sure why you think that's so bad, compared to most of ABC's other shows that's a good number. Castle is basically a lock for renewal. Don't be so negative.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Goodbye Carrie Diaries, you were fun while you lasted.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm happy Bones went back up to 2.0. :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Good to see Castle steady! Thats all it needs :)
Next time Castle can beat Revolution too because thats just ouchhh for Revolution.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 2.2 for Castle is great. Very close to this season's high that is 2.3.
But the episode was excellent so of course the ratings couldn't be bad.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I know Castle season 6 is a sure thing, but episodes like Target, hunt and Castle100 deserved MUCH MORE ratings. And I am sure that AWM and Terri were expected better numbers, too. The lead-in doesn't help.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Actually, I don´t think it´s that bad...Revolution, wich skews much younger demos, didn´t got much better.
Anyway, I guessed the ratings (if it stays like that), but not the viewers:)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Actually Castle is stable and thats what ABC desperately needs because their other shows are crashing (OUAT, Revenge, Nashville)
So Castle is completely safe! Dont worry :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Just noticed Castle beat DWTS! Wohooooo. ABC better announce a renewal soon

    ReplyDelete
  19. DWTS should be 2.1 or 2.2

    ReplyDelete
  20. There's always this one fan of B**** that dislikes every positive comment about Castle. Just lol.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I predicted Castle could beat DWTS, well, it happened, and this is the most positive thing about these numbers.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Castle is only 0.1 away from Revolution, which is really good and it beat its' lead in by 0.1.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Castle was the 3rd highest rated show of the night and 3rd most watched, it was also one of the highest ratings it had so far this season, and you people are complaining? What is wrong with you? Not many ABC shows are having such steady numbers as Castle is. Some of you guys really need to take a chill pill, and fast.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Bad numbers for Revolution 2.3 is huge drop.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It may have deserved more but things like DVR have a huge impact on numbers today. Look at 10pm shows across the weeks- Castle is doing really well. Add in the DVR numbers and its better. Don't complain about positive things!

    ReplyDelete
  26. There's absolutely no chance of it being cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  27. 2.2 is great. The show is 5 seasons old going into its 6th next season, so to be getting numbers like that still is very good. At those numbers it's a definite renewal. For comparison, look at The Following - that started high and has already dropped down to where Castle is, in its first season! And it airs an hour earlier!

    ReplyDelete
  28. They're probably going to use The Voice to pimp out their new shows next season.
I can see why NBC only had Revolution come back when The Voice did because without it, it might've been lower.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Pick which way you want to go,below in your comment you said the ratings mean nothing to you.And here your predicting that Castle would beat DWTS,then also below your crying about Castle's 2.2 rating being to low.

Castle is doing fine and last night episode was great,i'm sure they will be renewed. But if you really don't care about the ratings why comment about it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. No need to start a competition between shows. They can both do fine (along with H50) in the 10pm slot.

    ReplyDelete
  31. NBC without The Voice would be quite scary...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes it would.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think Revolution will get a S2 but if it's not paired with the Voice expect massive ratings drop and cancellation.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would prefer if they moved Bones to another day. I understand that the Bones/Following duo is working, and that Fox will fail if they put any other show monday night up against two reality shows that seem to be working well (and frankly I don't know why...). But it is really unfair to Bones. Score aside, they lose viewers just by being at an extremely competitive slot and no lead-in.

I would love to see how Glee would do a monday at 8...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, but NBC desperately needs that lead in for their new shows next season.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes I agree, without The Voice, the show probably don't survive. I hope the numbers up next week.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think your right so yeah Revolution has a up hill struggle in whatever new timeslot it gets.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Whyyyy?(((
    The Carrie Diaries(((

    ReplyDelete
  39. To those who are complaining that Castle's numbers were too low.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Glee would collapse. I love Bones but I actually think it is a testament to its strenght that Fox puts it there.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I throwing a guess here but I think dramas are an average at 2.4 including every network and every shows.

Sure I love Castle, I'd like to read 5.0 ratings for it. And even more and even 40 millions viewers. However I am not a dreamer.
2.2 11,76; this days, are very good numbers

    ReplyDelete
  42. TV by numbers changed Castle's viewers to11.79.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The number is this table are the EARLY overnight numbers.

All final adjusted numbers are entered into the ratings database here

It's all explained in the above article

    ReplyDelete
  44. I know, I know, don't worry. :) I just had a need to hyperventilate more over the increased numbers, that's all . ;)

    ReplyDelete
  45. YOU don't understand what I meant, my first comment was posted BEFORE the demos, I WAS talking about the numbers MARC posted 7.9/13 THESE numbers doesn't say anything. DEMOS are the most important. ok??

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks for your polite and very sensible answer.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yeah compared to the numbers it was getting before the hiatus, this is a big drop. However, it's also NBC, which means it has to drop really low to be out.
