----------

-Winners:
"American Idol" (Fox), "Survivor: Caramoan" (CBS)

-Losers (excluding repeats):
Nothing - 57 percent of the line-up was in repeats.

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
It was an easy Wednesday victory for Fox, which bested No. 2 CBS by 3.4 overnight household rating points. But CBS featured repeats of "Criminal Minds" and "Elementary" from 9-11 p.m. and the 8.6 rating/14 share for Fox's "American Idol" from 8-10 p.m. was actually down by 25 percent from one year earlier.

"Survivor" Caramoan," which featured one of the best tribal councils in the history of the franchise last night, was above average with a healthy second-place 6.5/11 in the overnights at 8 p.m. SPOILER ALERT: If you have not seen "Survivor" yet and don't want to know what happened, skip the remainder of this paragraph. But after dominating this season with his combination of bullying and nonsense, bravo to the "three amigos" for blindsiding Phillip. Now the current season can only get better.

"Survivor: Caramoan" led into the aforementioned encores of "Criminal Minds" (#2: 4.5/ 7) and "Elementary" (#1: 4.4/ 8) from 9-11 p.m., which could be a test to see if "Elementary" is compatible capping off Wednesday. Based on these initial overnights, it is.

In week three news, ABC sitcom "How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life") dipped to a 4.2/ 7 at 9:30 p.m., which was 21 percent below one week earlier. Three week overnight track: 6.0/ 9 -- 5.3/ 8 -- 4.2/ 7. But lead-in "Modern Family" (#2: 4.4/ 7 at 9 p.m.) was a repeat, and the 95 percent overnight retention is a sure sign that "How to Live With Your Parents" will be picked up for a second season. One year earlier, an original installment of "Don't Trust the B____ in Apartment 23" in the time period dipped by 35 percent out of an original episode of Modern Family" (4.9/ 8 vs. 7.5/12).

In season finale news, a one-hour edition of sophomore "Suburtatory" on ABC finished third in the 8 p.m. hour with a 4.0/ 7 in the overnights. One year earlier, a Wednesday 8:30 p.m. airing of the sitcom was slightly higher at a 4.4/ 7. With two seasons under its belt, "Suburgatory" might stand a better chance of renewal than recently concluded freshman comedy "The Neighbors." Stay tuned.

At 10 p.m., an encore of ABC's also on the fence "Nashville" finished a distant third with a 2.3/ 4.

Elsewhere, a Wednesday 8 p.m. edition of "Dateline" (#4: 3.6/ 6) remains a stronger option than recent sitcoms "Whitney" and "Guys With Kids." And it led into repeats of "Law & Order: SVU" (#4: 3.2/ 5) and "Chicago Fire" (#2: 2.7/ 5) from 9-11 p.m. And The CW populated this third Wednesday in April with repeats of already renewed dramas "Arrow" (#5: 1.1/ 2) and "Supernatural" (#5: 0.8/ 1).

About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) we post the TV Ratings for the previous night.

The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).

Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.

Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below)

  8. Yeah my only hold on was that I was afraid that it wouldn't be renewed. Also, I currently have no time for more shows as I am still way behind on a lot of my regular shows, so it needs to wait for summer anyway.

  9. I know that nobody cares about repeat ratings, but I just want to point out supernatural beat Arrow in repeat rating, interstings
