-Ratings Breakdown:
Two-hours of "American Idol" kept Fox in the Wednesday overnight winner's circle. And it will be enough to dominate among adults 18-49 (and the other key demos). But an 8.3 rating/13 share from 8-10 p.m. (peaking in the 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. half hours, with an 8.5/13) was still 26 percent below the 11.3/18 on the comparable year-ago evening.

In week two news, ABC sitcom "How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life") finished third at 9:30 p.m. with a 5.3/ 8 in the overnights. Comparably, that was just 12 percent below its week-ago opener (6.0/ 9 on April 3). The retention out of lead-in "Modern Family" (#3: 7.3/11 at 9 p.m.) was 73 percent, which is a marked improvement from recent time period occupant "Suburgatory." And compared to the series-premiere of "Don't Trust the B____ in Apartment 23" on the year-ago evening (5.0/ 8 out of a 7.5/11 for "Modern Family"), this was an increase of six percent. Two episodes in, and "How to Live With Your Parents" is promising.

Earlier in the evening on ABC were comedies "The Middle" (5.3/ 9) and "Suburgatory" (4.2/ 7), which each finished third in their half-hours from 8-9 p.m. And on-the-fence freshman drama "Nashville" finished second at 10 p.m. with a 4.4/ 8. Keep in mind that normally competing "Chicago Fire" on NBC, which is a shoo-in for renewal for next season, was replaced by an encore of the pilot episode of "Hannibal" (#3: 2.3/ 4).

Over at CBS, reliable "Survivor: Caramoan" finished a comfortable second at 8 p.m. with a 6.3/10 in the overnights, which was on par with the comparable year-ago evening. Tell us what you think about last night's episode of "Survivor" by visiting our Facebook page at http://tinyurl.com/adorfec.

Next on the Eye net was underrated "Criminal Minds" at a second-place 7.6/12 at 9 p.m., which was consistent from one year earlier, followed by granddaddy "CSI" at a dominant 7.3/13 at 10 p.m. Year-to-year, "CSI" increased by nine percent. At present, CBS is still in conversations to renew worthy "Criminal Minds" for next season.

Elsewhere, "Dateline" opened for NBC with a third-place 3.9/ 6 at 8 p.m., which is an improvement over recent comedies "Whitney" and "Guys With Kids." Next was a repeat of "Law & Order: SVU" (#4: 3.1/ 5 at 9 p.m.), followed by the aforementioned "Hannibal" encore at a third-place 2.3/ 4 at 10 p.m.

The CW capped off the night with repeats of "Arrow" (#5: 1.1/ 2) and "Supernatural" (#5: 0.8/ 1) from 8-10 p.m., which both have already been renewed for next season.
