  1. I really hope the cw don't choose Reign over The Selection :( there is no way Reign will be a ratings success on the CW

  2. Oh God, the news about NBC's comedy pilots has me extremely worried for Go On.

  3. Not much new but:
    - Bummed about the selection! I really wanted it to be picked up. Could this mean that they really are going to ship of HoD to Fridays and launch an oxygen/beauty and the beast night on tuesdays? I would be a bit shocked with that move, but who knows. I thought for sure beauty and the beast was friday bounded. I wanted the selection so much... Damn it.
    - Lucky 7... Didn't expect that one to emerge. But I am sort of open to it, I need to see what comes out of it. Really pleased about Shield and Big Thunder. Shield was a given but I am very happy that Big Thunder appears to be such a strong possibility.
    - I still say the returned sounds like a bomb (as in, will fail very soon in network tv), but maybe I will be proven very wrong, who knows!
    - I don't like the sound of "NBC is too happy with its comedies". I think this means they will keep 3 hours of comedies in the fall (4 I refuse to believe). Too bad, I think NBC would be wise to go with just 4, on thursday, until they can stabilize the schedule. Also, they need to learn that there is no way they can promote so many shows and it is easy to promote 1 new drama than 2 new comedies.
    - I think After Hours would be the perfect companion show to Chicago Fire.
    - Not too much on Fox front. I would like to see Delirium and Human. Surprised with the lack of buzz for Boomerang, considering the casting involved.
    - Everytime I read anything pilot season related, I find it impossible that CBS does not expand its comedy hours. Will they just pass on everything and simply go with Mom? Seems such a waste. I hope, the very least, they held Mike and Molly until midseason and launch at least 2. We'll see, I am very very curious about this. I usually don't have early comedy favorites but I would love to watch Super Clyde with Rupert Grinn! I also think Friends with Better Lives sounds, at least in paper, the perfect successor for How I Met Your Mother
    - On the drama side, I am not sure why Intelligence is not a major frontunner, as it seems the perfect companionship to POI and considering the casting involved. I hope for it so much, I would be 100% in. Beverly Hill Cops as a frontunner hun? That certainly does suggest that CBS isn't as happy as one might thought with NCIS-Red. I still say that should be held to midseason...
    - Hope very much for a the 100/ the tomorrow people pairing. But damn I also wanted the selection!

  4. This! But I think it will be oxygen over the selection!

  5. Just renew NIKITA CW! Plz!

  6. I actually think Reign could be a good show... on cable. I just don't see it working on the cw. If it is picked up, I will still give it a try just so that I know what I am talking about and I will eat my dust if I am wrong now, but I honestly doubt it.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Damn, Then that only leaves 3, since TO is already picked up. My hope for Selection is dwindling.

  8. That would be a bad move, the ratings have shown that wednesdays at 9pm is a perfect fit for SVU. The ratings are much higher this year than last year, second thurday isn't a good thing...
SVU is fine where it is, NBC sees that, It does better at 9pm on Wednesday than at 10pm

  9. I really don't want mixology to happen.... I'd rather have Sarah Bolger on OUaT....

Fingers crossed for Super Clyde. Greg Garcia, Rupert, Tyler Lebine and Stephen Fry? That is so my comedy for next season. I can feel it. That and the Robin Williams thing. Cause I love Robin Williams.

  10. I really hope I Am Victor gets ordered to series!

Happy to hear about Big Thunder, and hoping that Westside and Gothica also make it.

I'd like to see Delirium on fox go to series as well.

As for The CW, I am the most interested in their crop of pilots, and am bummed to see that The Selection 2.0 isn't doing too hot. But for those saying that Dixie is getting bumped to Fridays, I doubt it. IF they do pair Beauty and the Beast with Oxygen, The CW currently has nothing on Monday nights (90210 is gone and if The Carrie Diaries is gone too, then Mondays are free)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Did you hear this regarding the Delirium book? The first Delirium book was the worst in the series imo, so if they go quickly through it and move to the more interesting ones, that would actually be good imo.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I wonder how bad the pilot could be. This is the network that picked up the pilot for B&tB that is one of the worst in my book, and the CW have to know The Selection has more legs than any periodical drama like Reign could have.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I agree, Reign is definitely a flop in the making. The CW viewers are not into periodical dramas. The CW can look at TCD and CBS' Vegas to see how periodical dramas do nowadays. Personally I don't know what I hate more, periodical dramas or political dramas.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think Nikita will get picked up but there's a chance it'll be picked up only for 13 episodes and then they could have an opened slot in the spring for another midseason drama.

    ReplyDelete
  15. They need more than one midseason show imo, like they had both TCD and Cult this year. There's a chance though that ANTM will return to the fall or spring schedule though.
You're forgetting though the one slot that was already taken - 1 slot on Thursday. Thus, if they want to fill 2 slots on Monday, 1 on Tuesday, and 1 on Friday while still leaving a midseason replacement, then they need 6 new shows, not 5.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I am assuming the tomorrow people and the hundred are picked up and paired on monday nights. Alternatively, they may also decide do split the arrow/supernatural duo (I personally think it is a terrible idea) and pair the hundred with supernatural on mondays and arrow and tomorrow people wednesdays. Regardless, it leaves tuesday as the only free day to pair beauty and the beast and oxygen. Again, this is not what I would do, this is what I assume they will do.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I am also super excited for super clyde. I would think Rupert Grinn alone would make it more of a frontrunner actually. I think that the fact that it is a single cam doesn't help its odds over at CBS

    ReplyDelete
  18. I disagree. Where is the evidence that it does better at 9pm than at 10pm? Just because it is doing "okay" (because that is merely how is it doing, don't kid yourself, and the fact that it goes up so much when it has no competition from CM just shows that it is a bad spot for it) doesn't mean it wouldn't do better elsewhere and that there is not a show that could perform better in the slot. Is it risky? Sure. Not so much because of how it would perform at 10pm Thursdays, but because of how the new show would perform Wednesdays at 9pm. But still, if they truly believe in their new show and believe it could self-start, it would be the best move.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I am for the Reign. I think it will be a good show. And this is a new format for the SS. I do not understand why everyone is against this show. You have not seen it yet. And this show is more fantasy than drama.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I was reducing the number of midseason shows from 2 to 1 because I was already using 4 fall pilots, so I was keeping the number of overall new series stable at 5. I don't see the cw ordering 6 new series, that just sounds too much. Also, it is not crystal clear that they will order midseason replacements even. Last year they didn't, they went just with the secret circle, ringer and hart of dixie and that was it (even though they had the final season of one three hill as midseason filler).

    ReplyDelete
  21. For me, it just feels like a cable show and a concept that could be very appealing in a network like HBO, but that just seems too off-brand for the cw. they won't have the freedom to make it work and they will try to "teen" it too much IMO. I will give it a shot if it is picked up so that I can know what I am talking about but I truly believe it will flop and will not leave to see a second season.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The year of TSC, Ringer, and Hod is not a good example though. It was a transition year where Pedowitz was still not in charge on which shows to order to pilot but was in charge on which shows to pick up, and he wasn't fond of the CW's pilots much, hence taking Ringer from CBS. I think this year is a better example than last year because of that.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ok fair point. Still, this year they picked up 5 already. I think 6 is too much for them!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I suppose the question is whether they consider The Originals to be a brand new show in terms of budgeting its promotion or as an extension of TVD.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree with that very much, excellent point. But that is actually why I think it is feasible for them to launch 4 new shows in the fall rather than the standard 3 - because the originals doesn't need that much promotion. Budget, however, is another issue, because it will need as much budget as any other new show, which is why I don't see the cw having the funds to finance 6 new shows in addition to the 6 they are already bringing back. Also, 2 midseason replacements would effectively require 2 fall shows to fall, which although far from impossible on the cw, wouldn't exactly bode well for the new shows (unless nikita gets that 12 episode order which I sincerely doubt, but that would also require premiering a new show on fridays which would be odd and still have another show failing elsewhere in the week).

    ReplyDelete
  26. To be honest, I'm just bitter that its potentially why Selection is not getting picked up, I will hold my hands up and admit it. Selection has a book audience, growing by the day (reviews on EW, 32805 readers on Good Reads, spin off novella in NYT best sellers, 20K fans on facebook etc) Add that with the cast, veteran actors like Anthony Head and Louise Lombard to fresh talent like Yael Grobglas (LOVE her) and Michael Malarkey.

So yeah. I'm just bitter. I will give it a shot but i'm upset Selection is probably not going to be picked up.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The fact that they've ordered a couple of single camera comedies makes me think they're planning on a block of those. It's why I'm banking on Clyde and the Robin Williams one to get picked up.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I know, it is a possibility but it seems such an un-CBSY thing to do that I dont know. Not that much time left until we find out anyway!

    ReplyDelete
  29. It was unCBSy to order single camera comedies to begin with. So since they have, what was it 4, 5?, to chose from I still think the plan is to get at least two on the schedule next season.

With HIMYM ending and with TaaHM on its last legs they need new material, and trying out the single camera comedy format.... well they're already too late into the game.

The fact that the Robin Williams starter
    A)has some good buzz
    and
B)stars Robin Williams, seems like a no brainer for CBS (they like to bank on popular stars and big names)

And they will need a companion for it otherwise it will have a very hard time fitting in the schedule. So they will need one more single camera comedy for it. And So far Clyde seems to be the front runner...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes, you do have a point. I definitely think there is a shot of it happening, just don't know big. Guess we'll find out soon!

  31. My prediction of The CW's schedule for next season:

    MONDAYS

    8-9PM: Beauty and the Beast
    9-10PM: Oxygen

    TUESDAYS

    8-9PM: Hart of Dixie
    9-10PM: Reign

    WEDNESDAYS

    8-9PM: Arrow
    9-10PM: Tomorrow People

    THURSDAYS

    8-9PM: The Vampire Diaries
    9-10PM: The Originals

    FRIDAYS

    8-9PM: Nikita
    9-10PM: Supernatural

  32. I doubt there will be a compainion show to Chicago Fire, SVU is before it. After it is the news, judging by the ratings I doubt NBC will change the time slots.

    ReplyDelete
  33. They are almost certain to do so.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeah same here. I think Community still has a shot but this has decreased Go On's chances a lot I think it is probably over now

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think NBC would be wise to send SVU to Thursdays at 10. It has repeated extremely well in there and at this point, its audience is probably extremely loyal, especially if it did not have to face CM, which likely targets the same audience (as seen by SVU hitting highs when CM is in repeats). I think a Wednesday block consisted of Parenthood/After Hours/ Chicago Fire would be the way to go.

Gutted about Selection. I will never give up hope until the very final press release is announced tho. It must be an awful pilot to pass a show like this up, The books are becoming more popular by the day.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I guess there is still hope tho they only just delivered the selection pilot to the CW on saturday and it hasnt even had test screenings yet and i think reign is still in the editing room they finished filming that really late like april 18th compared to the selection finished filming late march and only just finished editing friday night

    ReplyDelete
  38. Did not know that. Where do you get so many details? Would like to check that sort of things more often too.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I just peek at the crew/editors twitters
I think its still early after test screeenings happen things will be clearer

  40. AngelaRobinson908 April 2014 at 04:38

There should be room for every show. They need to replace Cult, 90210, Gossip Girl, Emily Owens and probably Carrie Diaries (even Nikita but I do think this will still be picked up) 5 shows to replace . This leaves The Originals, The Tomorrow People, The 100, Reign (ugh!) Oxygen and Selection (6 pilots). Reign must have one hell of a pilot to trump Selection.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I am also disappointed with this news. I have been looking forward to it for more than a year now. Obviously, still not over but I don't know, if they really pass on it for a second time, maybe we should believe that it really was too bad? Meh:S

    ReplyDelete
  42. AngelaRobinson908 April 2014 at 04:38

Its so stupid, it has everything they need to make an amazing show. I'm so annoyed at Reign.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well, they were probably going to get rid of a shitload of comedies anyway, but I hope Go On sticks around. I need it!

    ReplyDelete
  44. AngelaRobinson908 April 2014 at 04:38

I love you right now. Thanks for giving me a tiny bit of hope back about Selection!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I still don't believe they will pick up Reign, it sounds too much like a flop in the making.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think Go On has the third best chance (significantly below Parks and also below Community) and is one of the biggest tossups of the season, but these news certainly don't do it any favours.

    ReplyDelete
  47. AngelaRobinson908 April 2014 at 04:38

I hope so, and I agree. I would hate for them to pass up Selection for a show like Reign, UGH. What are they thinking!?

    ReplyDelete
  48. You are confused because you are counting The Carrie Diaries and Gossip Girl as occupying two different time slot while they timeshared it. Same for Cult/ Emily Owens. So, even assuming that they program scripted Fridays from 8 to 10 right away (which they didn't do this season), that is 2 slots on Monday, 1 slot on Tuesday and 1 slot on Friday = 4 new Shows! Even if you add to that 1 midseason replacement, that is only 5 new shows.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I was hoping The Selection would have done a Buffy/The Big Bang Theory. As in, have an awful first pilot and then do a more than great second attempt at the pilot.

    This is all disappointing..

All the delirium fans will probably be the most disappointed if the pilot doesn't get picked up.
