We’re about a week from starting to get more definitive feedback on this year’s pilots when the networks start screening them. That is probably my favorite part of pilot season when dark horses and underdogs that had stayed largely under the radar suddenly race to the front of the pack. Until then, here are how pilots stack up now based on inherently subjective intel.

ReplyDeletegood to see 'Intelligence' back in the mix after being absent from the last pilot buzz update from deadline. But I wonder what happened to 'Hatfields and McCoys' and 'The List'- both of which I thought were strong contenders for NBC and FOX respectively. I guess maybe they haven't filmed anything for both?
ReplyDeleteNope, there were set photos of Hatfields and McCoys filming. Maybe it's still in contention.
ReplyDeleteOUATIW would not air until the parent series was on hiatus, based on my understanding so I hope ABC will pick up Big Thunder and Gothica.

ABC and The CW have the most interesting roster of pilots this season.

ReplyDeleteYea, ouch on that one. All this time to make improvements (which it did) but the pilot came out only "okay"....
ReplyDeleteI'm happy Oxygen is getting a good shot, but The Selection breaks my heart, they said it was doing well before, I wonder what went 'wrong' unless the other pilots have gotten more buzz from post production? I will cry if this doesn't get picked up.
ReplyDeleteFrom what i hear it is still editing and hasnt been screened yet i think the cw will pick up 5 -> 6 pilots i think as long as Blink and Company Town dont suddenly gain momentum it will hopefully be picked up as long as it tests ok
ReplyDeleteReign was the last pilot to film by far and im sure it is very early in editing i really dont see Mary Queen of Scotts being a ratings success on the CW no matter how good it is and i think The Selection has a better chance of attracting an audience
anI don't understand why the CW think 'Reign' would work. If it gets picked up it would be a waste of a slot. Also, why has the Hundred cooled off, it's one of the pilots I'm more interested in..
ReplyDeleteGood to see Delirium mentioned in Fox' list. I read the books and although the first one was kinda horrible, the next ones were actually not bad. I think there's a potential for a good show there, but at the same time, the premise of the cure made me eyeroll a lot when reading it, and it could be worse on screen. The question is how many people at the 34-49 age group would care enough to check it, FOX is still not ABCFamily..
Hi there Intelligence, I hope CBS order it to series.
I think Deadline missed the point that Once and its spin-off would share the same timeslot, so if ABC do pick up Gothica, they won't air three hours of fairytale supernatural dramas per week, but only two. Thus I hope there's a chance for Gothica and Once's spin-off too.
Big Thunder is really the only ABC show I'm allowing myself to get interested into. I don't want another FlashForward/666 Park Avenue/Zero Hour in my life so I'm avoiding the network as much as I can.
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving me a smidge of hope back. I love the book (The second comes out this week I believe, very young but the plot that is there is good!) I have also started a fansite for selection (selection-fan.net) in hopes it gets picked up as well. I think the CW will pick up 5 pilots as well, especially with Nikita apparently only getting 13 episodes. This is torture to wait LOL. They have Anthony Head in the cast, why wouldn't they pick it up!

ReplyDeleteI wonder if either Reign or The Selection have pretty much cornered themselves into having to be ratings hits but they (CW) can give leeway to a show like Oxygen or The Company Town.
I'm GUTTED if this is true.
ReplyDeleteThe way I see it Gothica is a very good companion for Once.... and the way I understand the Wonderland spin off is a more "limited" series. So I think your point might actually be valid here...
