The Office - Original sign in casting sheet

19 Mar 2013

Rainn Wilson posted this yesterday and there are quite a few surprises about who was considered for some of the roles.

Rainn then went on to say this:

This is the original sign-in sheet for the first day of casting for The Office given to me by Allison Jones, our incredible casting agent. I was the very first person to audition for the series, 11/06/03. Notice all the amazing talent on the sheet, including the amazing #13! This is perhaps the greatest Office keepsake I have. So grateful for the best job I will ever have.

  1. Adam Scott as Jim would have been interesting, but he's the perfect Ben so I'm glad that didn't work out.

Pretty surprised about Anne Dudek, but Jenna and John are perfect for the roles.

  2. Mary Lynn Rajskub (24's Chloe O'Brien) as Pam ? Well she went on to play some sort of a receptionist afterwards (Jack Bauer called a lot). Actually, judging by the date (November 6, 2003), she was already on 24 : season 3 (the first with Chloe) began on October 30, 2003. She probably thought she wouldn't stick around ; turns out, years later, pretty much everyone died on the show but her !

Also Alan Tudyk as Michael would have been pretty intriguing. Michael Scott was made for Steve Carell, but Suburgatory does show Tudyk in a way that makes me think he could have pulled it off.

Great of Wilson to share that, it's pretty amazing. And no less than 18 months after this audition, the show got on the air (March 24, 2005).

  3. It's great to see some of these guys and gals find really awesome work after like Hamish Linklater (New Adventures of Old Christine), Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), Alan Tudyk (Dollhouse, Suburgatory), Adam Scott (Parks & Rec), and Anne Dudek (House, Mad Men, Big Love, Covert Affairs)!

This is really wicked to see.
