Oh God, that season title finale scares the hell out of me.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, another mini-hiatus? This one just ended!
Can't wait to find out what happens in the finale.
Nooooooooooooooooo :'( Sam?Dean? Who's gonna sacrifice himself??BOTH?!?! Oh man...:'(
ReplyDeleteIt's been like that with all the shows I watch. So annoying. TV needs to find a neater way of doing breaks. Going on break all the time is confusing.
ReplyDeleteSame. I'm really sick of the fucked up schedule that starts after February sweeps ends because then I'm just confused for months. And the election and everything else only made it worse.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Cas is gonna be the sacrifice. It can't be Sam or Dean since the show has been renewed for another season and without both of them there wouldn't be a show.
ReplyDeleteMisha was also upped to a regular for next season so I doubt that, too. Unless he becomes human, which I think will happen.
ReplyDeleteYeah, if he's going to be around a lot, it would only make sense they'd make him human. His powers are a little too handy for him to be an angel and be around a lot.
ReplyDeleteI think none of them should be killed cause that is done too often. Even all 3 have been killed way too often. If the writers want them around, they need to find some other way to make a "sacrifice".
ReplyDeleteMy God, I'm going to be depressed all over Summer Hellatus... :'(
ReplyDeletei'm sure the season finale's title is referring to Cas and he's going to became human. :'(
ReplyDeleteDid you see any spoiler regarding to that?
ReplyDeleteThat does not sound good for Sam.
ReplyDeleteI think the 'sacrifice' involves Castiel... D: Really excited to watch the finale!
ReplyDeleteNot happy with this title, sounds like very bad news for someone.
ReplyDeleteOr kill one off and let him go on to other better things, like movies.
ReplyDeleteBesides, who said a 'sacrifice' automatically equates to 'death?'
ReplyDeleteI hope there's no sacrificing for the brothers especially Sam by the sounds.
ReplyDeleteI won't look forward to the another break but I like these titles!.
But they could come back from the dead. May be Cas but he's also a regular.
ReplyDeleteconsidering it's sam doing the trials the sacrifice is his. though i'm sure everyone will get to sacrifice something.
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
ReplyDeleteI remember when Keifer Sutherland said they were going to stop the breaks in "24" and just air the 24 episodes from start to finish! I was so happy when they made that decision.
Paging Mr. Padalecki ... (And I like Sam.)
ReplyDeleteI don't think death is involved, but I think some-one will cop a bit.
ReplyDeleteI really, really, hope the episode 'Clip show' isn't actually just a clip show.
ReplyDeleteYou mean bring back a Sam you approve of. Jared is going to be there wether you like it or not so you will have to look to fanfic for your Dean and Castiel only SPN.
ReplyDeleteDo you really like this Sam? The one that is so miserable and want a normal life so badly? The one that did not care enough about Dean to even look for him? This is the Sam you want to keep seeing? I want the one that loves his brother and would do anything for him, the one with his head and most of his heart in the game.
ReplyDeleteI love Sam I dont put conditions on that .I may have dislike for how he is written sometimes but never for him himself in the same way I may hate how Dean is written but I dont end up hating Dean or wanting Jensen off the show because of it . I think having Sam wanting normal now is what feels off and mis-timed but Sam actually wanting that hope for himself and maybe Dean to resent that I cant agree with.
ReplyDeleteAs for being miserable I dont see him walking around with his face on the floor and right now he is facing bigger things with the trials . Now Jeremy Carver decided that Sam not looking for Dean was a justifiable situation and well it wasnt and it was sad he put Sam in that position but it is a story they went with. But where you and I differ is that I know Sam loves Dean .
You want a certain Sam and if you dont get that you want him off the show that is a big difference between you and me.
I don't want Sam off the show either, but I would have a hard time saying Sam loves Dean when he did not look for him, we have a differ way of looking at love.
ReplyDeleteI don't confuse the actor/Jared with the character Sam and of course it is the writers that are to blame, no question there. All I am saying is I don't like THIS Sam they are giving us and I am still hoping it will be explained by seasons end.
Sam and Dean have always been a little miserable, so I don't know how that's different. The Sam "that did did not care enough about Dean to even look for him" exists only in your head. It seems to be the way you choose to want to see him. While I'm generally the last one to defend how Sam has been characterized this season, what crumbs we've gotten from the show seem to point to Sam thinking Dean was dead, not knowing where to turn, and being overwhelmed and running. That in no way indicates that Sam's actions were because he didn't care.
ReplyDeleteI've always like Cas, used to love him, but am starting to feel he's overstaying. But if they end yet another season with Cas as the big focus/cliffhanger, I won't be happy. Season 6 ended with a Cas cliffhanger, season 7 ended with a Dean and Cas cliffhanger. The season 8 cliffhanger needs to be focused on Sam and Dean.
ReplyDeleteAgain I will say Sam not looking for Dean was unfortunate but I dont use it as a defining point of Sam's love would you do that if it had been Dean , would you take that and say Dean doesnt love Sam because he didnt look for him and say that one thing wipes out all expressions of love that had gone before.
ReplyDeleteIt is a pity the fandom is allowed to define their opinion of Sam by poor writing and misconstructed ideas of who Sam is .
He did not know where Dean was in Time after Time either, but he LOOKED.
ReplyDeleteNot looking for Dean is just out of character for the Sam we have known for 7 years and YES I would say the same thing about Dean, if all of a sudden his whole character changed. But it hasn't, it is just Sam the writers are ruining. All I want is them to come up with a GOOD reason, other than "ran, hit dog, met girl". That just does not cut it for a character that would die for his brother.
ReplyDeleteSo why do you assume Sam cared in season 7 but not in season 8? As I said, I have my own issues of the characterization (Sam's not a runner, he's a fighter, despite how JC chose to start rewriting the character in season 5), but assuming Sam's actions were motivated because he didn't care is something that was not only never shown on the show, it's actually contradictory to what was shown on the show (we saw Sam and Amelia bond over grief and loss).
ReplyDeleteEveryone can have their own interpretations of the events, but you are bringing this up in most threads (whether the topic is Sam or not) and using it as an argument to write Sam/Jared off the show. So that's why I responded rather than ignore it.
NO I do not want Sam off the show, what I said was because of the way they were writing him, it just seemed like Jared might be wanting off and they were using this poor writing to get there. Yes I do know contracts have been signed. I started watching and loving this show because of the love between the brothers and it has not been there this season. When Dean asked Sam if he looked for him, Sam did not reply. Now he either did look or he didn't. I am hoping that there is a Heaven/Hell reason and it will show up. Do you think Sam would have looked???
ReplyDeleteFair enough but just remember you might not get that at all . Meanwhile I got past that hope a while ago maybe that why we are different in our views .
ReplyDeleteI know and I will not be able to get past it and this season will be ruined for me. And I hate that. How they could take a character that is loved even with the faults, because who doesn't have them, this is just way out of character to forget.
ReplyDeleteI do think he would have looked because Sam's response to stress/fear has consistently been to confront the source, not to run. I think the writers (JC mostly) introduced the "Sam runs" idea in season 5 to make the Lucifer arc work, but this was a contradiction to how we saw Sam react to threats in the prior four seasons.
ReplyDeleteWe had this discussion in an earlier thread, but there's no "Sam runs" characterization introduced prior to season 5. In season 1, when YED killed Jessica, Sam didn't run, he joined Dean to jump back into the hunting world. When they discovered John was hunting YED, Sam didn't run, he wanted to find John so that he could join him in the hunt for YED. In season 2, when Sam learned John thought Dean might have to kill him, Dean wanted to run to Amsterdam but Sam wanted to find more answers, and did that in "Hunted." Again his response was to confront the threat, not to run. In season 3, Dean wanted to run from his problems, Sam wanted to confront them and find a way to save Dean. When Dean died in Mystery Spot, Sam didn't run, he never stopped working on a way to bring Dean back. When Dean died at the end of season 3, Sam's response wasn't to run, it was to try everything he could to bring Dean back.
My issue is with your argument is that you (unlike me) buys that Sam runs from his problems, so you're assuming that Sam ran as he "always" does, and that means he doesn't care? I'm not following the logic.
No you don't understand, but then I always think better than I write. ;) I don't think Sam would run and that is my problem with the "Sam Ran" story. Sam has always been there for Dean, he does want a real normal life and always has, that is why he was at school and with Jessica. So from pilot we see Sam away from family. But he has been there when it counts.
ReplyDeleteDark Side of the Moon was in the Kripke time at SPN so Sam wanting normal is not just Carver. When family is in danger Sam has always been there and that is so what is wrong with this season. Like you said "Sam's response wasn't to run, it was to try everything he could to bring Dean back." So where was our Sam this time? Where was the love for Dean when he did not look? I am not buying the Sam character they have made for this season. Sam WOULD HAVE LOOKED.
And that I can agree with. :) I have issues with the characterization too. I'm just not drawing a conclusion from this that the show was trying to say that Sam didn't look because he didn't care. They were saying he did care, but that he runs.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I blame Kripke too for the season 5 lead character rewrite. I think they were doing what they thought they needed to do to make the Lucifer connection work, but season 5 is too late in the game to rewrite the characterization of one of your leads.
Maybe Kevin will be the sacrifice...................or Benny..............or Crowley................please writers don't make it be one of my boys or Castiel..........enough already, The card has been played for years....let's get back to hunting and hanging out in the batcave! Honestly if this next season is the last season give us loyal fans SUPERNATURAL old school!
ReplyDeleteThe 3 of them have contract. Jared and Jensen through season 10, so I don't think this is an option.
ReplyDeleteI hope it is not an option, but dang it, bring our Sam back, not this guy we have now.
ReplyDeleteJared is not leaving the show. That may be want you want, but it's not going to happen.
