    Anyone else coming to the conclusion unless Red John is at least a minor deity they'll be disappointed?


    Look, I like this show... but the Red John storyline has officially hit the point of BS. What was once an interesting idea has pretty much become unrealistic. They've made Red John too damn powerful. If his skin isn't red and he doesn't have horns I'll find it unlikely.

    I didn't "know". I was hoping they would be original for once and this one guy wouldn't turn out to be Red John's friend. And the ending was a huge let-down for me. :( Seems to me like the writers are running out of creative steam.

    The writers pulled a double bluff on me here, and it was beautiful. Kirkland is an intriguing character, who undoubtedly has a creepy/quirky vibe about him...but I called their bluff on this and pegged Kirkland as one of the 'good' guys, only to have the rug pulled from under me in the last few minutes of this episode! :O Genuinely frightening. Bravo. Also well done to Kevin Corrigan, a wonderful actor

    Oh and Jane/Laroche OTP OK.

    This episode pulled off the balancing act of good/fun case-of-the-week and interesting Red John developments perfectly. Given that I like both sides to the show, how could I not like this episode?

    Anybody else pissed of, because of the neverending story of Red John? Always the same scheme, someone who knows his indentity is either not talking, or will be dead, before Jane could talk with them. Like star_wearing_purple wrote, he must be some sort of deity, because of his reach, this is just freakin' unbelievable, same story over, and over again... Screenwriters started going in circles from season 4 onwards.

    I agree. It was interesting for the first 2 seasons but it's been dragged out far too long.

    If the red john story is not finished this season I think I'm done with the show. I want to see what happens to Jane etc after red john is unmasked.

    Heller always said that the show is OVER when Red John is caught. So
    there won't be any story after that. To me, it doesn't feel old at all,
    and I still love the Red-John-arc... and just now, I find that it get's
    REALLY thrilling!

    My thoughts exactly! Red John always kills those who can ID him. Or has someone else kill them for him. Plus, remember in the 100th episode? He met with Susan after Jane started working with the CBI and was asking about Jane. Hinky.

    Don't get me wrong, I still love the series, but I'm tired of the same trick that is used by the screenwriters, e.g. why won't someone who knows RJ intentionally thorw Jane of his scent, and accuse e.g. La Roche (I know, it's immposible that he is RJ, but it's just an example), why not make Jane doubt his own little investigation. It'd be good for series dynamics, and viewers, who would be thinking, is the lead real, or is it just a play from one of RJ associates (I know, something like that was used in S03 finale, but I'm talking here about at least 5-6 episodes of tension and chasing leads, not just 5min. series finale)

    I think Kirkland hypnotized people to forget his face... He also tapped Jane at the end like Jane does when he hypnotizes someone.

    Also, why did Kirkland have to wait till Jason was awake to kill him? He did not learn anything important from him once he was awake. If the plan was to kill Jason, whether or not Jason recognized Kirkland was irrelevant.

    Thats exactly what I thought when I saw that clip: " do you know me? do you recognize me?"

    Looked like he was making sure the hipnoses was still there...

    Besides, Kirkland only appeared when Lorelei was caught, like, the last tenent, and he went out by himself along with Lisbon to make sure that she didn't figure out much about her sister... along with Jane. I mean look at the guy: totally corresponds to Rosalind description; doesn't ABSOLUTELY flynch when Jane talks with him (totally a dark-haired Jane); always a red tie; the actors are the exact same age (just a curiosity); and he is a total psycho, look at Jane's final face....

    Yeah, but what's Kirkland's interest in keeping him alive until he's conscious? It would have been much easier to take him out before, right?
