  1. Okay, I tried, but something just feels *different* about the show now. I still love it, but it's not the same show it used to be. I thought maybe it was because Community was on hiatus for so long, but it's not that.

Anyway, tonight made me laugh a few times and it was better than it's normally been. Jeff's speeches were so sweet and I loved seeing what everyone else thought of the group. It sorta felt like an old episode tonight, and I hope it stays that way, but I'm not holding my breath.

LOL at Chang showing up again and I loved Dean's outfits!

  2. "Alternative History of the German Invasion" is the best episode of S4 yet. It was Awesome !

  3. Definitely the best episode of the season yet, and the closest thing we've gotten to the Season 1-2 tone of Community in a long time. Very happy with the plot deciding to address the missteps of Season 3 that cast the study group as villains to the rest of the school (sans Dean); they addressed it back in Season 3, but they never did anything to make amends and get back to the good reputation they used to have in the school in the first two seasons. And on top of all that, I found myself laughing consistently throughout the episode instead of just smiling with a rare laugh here or there. This one was just really well done (and I went in with super low expectation for the Chang storyline too, but I thought it was also handled as well as was reasonably possible).

  4. I thought that too (about how community is different). It is three things:

    1. The pacing of the story. They try to fit too much in episodes right now.

    2. Not utilising Troy, Pierce and Annie as characters.

    3. This episode marks the first time this season that the study group has all had a discussion in their places in the study room (And it wasn't even for long).

  5. I love this show, still my favorite show on TV, but even I can't deny that it does indeed feel different. Yes, Dan Harmon getting fired did hurt the show, but the new writers are at least trying to make at as wacky as it used to be, which counts in my book. The characters are still the same, the cast is still the same, and they're the core of the show so they're able to keep it enjoyable while it may not be the same. I guess that was a really roundabout answer to say that it may be different but its still enjoyable.

  6. Definitely the best episode of the season so far and definitely felt more like a Dan Harmon-era/Season 1-3 episode. The episode had some good laughs and good Jeff speeches and nice to see the study group helping the school out. I feel like I'll say this a lot this season, but it wasn't the best episode the show has put out but it was far from the worst. It's different, it Chang-ed, there's no getting around that. But the cast and characters are still the same and I'll continue to keep up and watch them because it is still enjoyable.

  7. I loved it. The group working together, their narcissist behavior, the slow-motion scenes, the flashbacks to dragons and dungeons and cooperative calligraphy. Abed falling down with the chair was priceless and of course, seeing again Leonard, Todd and Vicky against the Grendale 7 too!

  8. My only gripe was that there was a reason that no one wanted to get into the study room during Cooperative Calligraphy which was everyone was at a Puppy Parade. Small thing, but something I noticed.

  9. (Exlude the lookalike episode from this)

I have loved every single episode of Community, loved it. Its my favourite show ever. I even loved Paranormal Parentage. I didn't ever think Dan Harmons gone, its going to go down the tubes. I had faith.

I've now had two good but feels off episode and now this. This piece of god-damn awfulness, there was no laughs. It was there, there were characters that I knew, but the light in there eyes had gone. They were acting out the show but there was no oomph, no punchline that went through.

    It was terrible.

    I mean truly awful.

At this juncture I'd rather have watched this weeks episode of Two Broke Girls. Because at least then I wouldn't have been so damn disappointed.

I mean, if I had to put a positive on the episode, Jim Rash, did a great job. I could have almost seen that as passable. The others, not so much. It was very "going through the motions". Troy has a dumb moment, Britta has a protest moment (I did smile a small amount at that joke, I will admit), Abed has a geek moment, Pierce has an old man moment, Shirley has a family moment and Annie has a naive girl moment. Things and lines that we broke out of to get 3 dimensional characters.

Whats more this episode has the gall to flashback to other episodes and taint them. For instance, Dungeons and Dragons, was about making someone feel included who was excluded, the clip in this episode totally went against the feeling in the Dungeons and Dragons episode. The Missing Pencil episode, wasn't everyone at the puppy parade? And Jeff in a costume as a punchline? Community can do so much better.

On the basis of this week, the big bang theory was more intelligent that this rag.

  10. You are right! Well, maybe the puppy parade wasn't as long? Anyway, I loved when Ted said: "They lost a pen"

  11. That could be, or Todd just wanted to get his work done so he could get back to his dumb kids. Leonard, well Leonard is Leonard so he can go and do whatever he wants. I've see numerous complaints about: "Abed closed the blinds before that scene" "Why would everyone complain they were playing D&D on a Saturday" "Why would everyone be against the study group for helping a kid (Fat Neil) not commit suicide."

  12. The fact that I have justify liking an episode of Community, means it's not the same anymore. Dan Harmon knew what he was doing on the show, now the writers are trying too hard to make it the same.
