Synopsis
Picking up where Frozen Heat left off, top NYPD Homicide Detective Nikki Heat pursues the elusive former CIA station chief who ordered the execution of her mother over a decade ago. For the hunt, Nikki teams once again with her romantic partner, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Jameson Rook, and their quest for the old spy and the motive behind the past murder unearths an alarming terror plot-which is anything but ancient history. It is lethal. It is now. And it has already entered its countdown phase.

Complicating Heat's mission to bring the rogue spy to justice and thwart the looming terror event, a serial killer begins menacing the Twentieth Precinct and her homicide squad is under pressure to stop him, and soon. The frightening murderer, known for his chilling stealth, not only has singled out Nikki as the exclusive recipient of his taunting messages, he then boldly names his next victim: Detective Heat.

  2. What is the dedication for this book?

  3. It was, just that,at the beginning, then ABC saw the huge marketing and money making opportunity and makes millions with the books. They are New York Times Best sellers,

  4. but who wrote the book i mean castle is just an tv character so who wrote the real books ?

  5. Nobody knows. The theories range from Nathan Fillion himself to the writers of the series to one of the real life writers that guest star to an unknown. It will probably be revealed when the book series ends so let's home they don't reveal for awhile :)

  7. They're good. They read exactly like an episode of the show with a little bit more sex and if I remember correctly slightly more language. Not much though. You should read them if you get the chance.

  8. Actually the author is known...his name is Tom Straw...he even appeared in episode 5 of season 2 (book party: Castle sits with someone and talks before Beckett enters the scene). He is also mentioned in the acknowledgements...Castle always thanks a certain "Tom"

  10. If you look at the "About the Author" inside the books themselves, it says that Richard Castle's first book "received the Nom DePlume Society's prestigious Tom Straw Award for Mystery Literature". A nom de plume is a "pen name", which is the name some authors assume when writing and publishing their books. It is usually different from their legal names (IE: Richard Rogers --> Richard Castle). But that last part is an aside. Tom Straw is a real author who works in the TV industry and has published his own mystery novels under his own name. I'm 99.9% sure he's the real author of the books. The word play is a fun way of acknowledging the real author, IMO.

  11. Cool theory and quite plausible.

But in one episode Castle said that he legally changed his name didn't he?

  12. Yeah, I know. I was just giving an example with someone we all know. I could have said Samuel Clemens --> Mark Twain, but figured Castle would be better.

  13. According to Rob Bowman, Andrew Marlowe writes them with a friend.

  14. Yep. Not a doubt in my mind the "Nom de Plume Society's prestigious Tom Straw award" tells us everything we need to know:

  15. The publication of both the Nikki Heat series and Derrick Storm products just shows how much time, money, and effort ABC has put into creating a "brand" for the show.

  16. yes, it has to be. there is no way they would put in the "received the Nom DePlume Society's prestigious Tom Straw Award for Mystery Literature" otherwise.
