  1. Snow and Emma! "Back away from my daughter!" ;)

  2. Reba and Lily from Malibu Country!

  3. Lorelai and Rory seem like the only option to me. No contest.

  4. Technically not mother and daughter but I thought Nikita and Alex.

  5. Tami and Julie - Friday Night Lights

  6. Interesting might be a strong word, but I love the relationship between Nicki and Erin in Blue Bloods :)

  7. I was waiting for this poll just to vote always Snow and Emma!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Where are Olivia and Etta. It was brief but intense and elaborated...

    ReplyDelete
  9. I voted Snow and Emma, love their relationship =)
I also love Olivia and Etta on fringe, it was great
On PLL, I like Hanna and Ashley
I think that Charlie and Rachel on Revolution is gonna be great too ;)

And someone said Nikita and Alex : I love them too, but maybe it's more like sisters ;)

  10. I don´t really watch any of the shows listed, so I voted Other. The first mother/daughter relationships that came to my mind was Catelyn Stark and Arya/Sansa (GoT) and Karen and Becca on Californication.

  11. Snow and Emma! and though it's not a mother/daughter relationship, I like the Red/Granny relationship too.

and really, how can Brooke and Victoria be an interesting mother/daughter relationship? Victoria has hardly been a mother to Brooke at all during the series of OTH...

  12. From the above I'd say Lorelai/Rory or Snow White/Emma.Other than that Sygney/Irina from Alias certainly was interesting..

    ReplyDelete
  13. From this list I chose Snow and Emma. Snow is becoming such a typical mother, it's fun.

    Other ideas:
Joyce and Buffy. I loved (sniff) those two.
Anna and Lisa on V. Interesting, not at all functional, since those two focused on killing each other.
Meadow and Carmela on The Sopranos

  14. Well, if it's OUaT, I personally think Cora/Regina is more interesting than Emma/Snow. But overall, as a relationship that was able to cary a show for several seasons, I'd have to say Lorelai and Rory. Their dialogs were what kept Gilmore Girls going for so long.

  15. Lorelai and Rory. :)

  16. Lorelai and Rory is the only interesting for me from this list..

  17. I find the dynamic of Snow and Emma interesting, Emma was an orphan as long as she could remember and now she has her mother thrust upon her by breaking some curse. Snow has to realize 28 years has elapsed since she saw her baby girl. Then Snow not aging gives Emma other problems. Mothers should not look younger than their grown child! This is just so fascinating.

    Fringe?? : Liv/Etta, Elizabeth/Peter, Faux/Henry/ or Future son, Liv/Mom-Faux/Mom, Rachel/Ella

  19. I'm going to go with Emma and Snow for present shows (although I hope it gets more explored and I think Cora and Regina's relationship should be added to the list!)), but I think the Olivia Dunhams, Etta Bishop, Alternate Marilyn Dunham, Nina Sharp mother and daughter dynamics were uniquely explored on Fringe, despite Fathers and and Sons being more highlighted towards the end of the series. So it's really my favorite exploration.

I think another interesting dynamic was Caprica with Zoe, ZoeA/R, Amanda, and Sister Clarence Willow mother and daughter dynamics.

Also want to mention The Dowager Cora, Lady Leventhston, and Cora's 3 children on Downton Abbey. It's always exceptionally entertaining, but also beautifully complicated.

But I was also found of Gilmore Girls with Lorelai being struggling to be both a mother and a daughter at the same time! And I think Sydney Bristow's relationship with Irina Derevko is also unforgettable and also a favorite of mine. (And it makes me look forward to what may come from Charlie and Rachel on Revolution) I also thought Kate Austen dynamic on LOST was also interesting, considering despite wanting help her mother from abusive relationship, she was often a misunderstood character and it was temporarily becoming a mother that makes Kate start running towards something, rather than run away from it.

And Lastly I think Margret Schroeder Thomson and her dynamic with her daughter Emily is also interesting on Boardwalk Empire, Same could be said for Betty and Sally on Mad Men.

  20. Didn't think of GOT! Another nice dynamic.

  21. GOT has a great dynamic between parents and children, plus between siblings. Always thought Cersei and Joffreys relationship was interesting.

  22. The toughest question yet I must admit :-) The relationship between MM&Emma is really new/refreshing and I'm really enjoying to watch it (one of the reasons I adore OUAT) but Lorelai and Rory had one of the most beautiful bonds I've ever seen. I know it wasn't real :D but they just had awesome chemistry between themselves, they also weren't much in mother-daughter relationship but rather sister-sister (and even sometimes Rory acted more like the "matriarch" of the family :D ) and their *fast* conversations... Rory/Lorelai were also big part of my childhood cause GG were one of my 1st tv series ever... And of course Emily/Lorelai! Just have to go with the Gilmore Girls ;-)

  23. Sure we have Emma and Snow, but the Bishops should of been included..as a matter of fact i;m getting pretty fucking tired of Fringe and the characters in fringe ALWAYS being left out... and that just is right..the hell with these polls

    ReplyDelete
  24. Snow and Emma. The more complicated the relationship, the more interesting it is.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I made the poll and as I don't watch Fringe, I didn't know of any Relationships there. Sorry :(

    ReplyDelete
  26. I voted for Lorelai/Rory, just because they are so much fun together and have the deepest connection any mother/duaghter relationship can have. Well, they technically grew up together :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Alias - Sydney Bristow & Irina Derevko

    ReplyDelete
  28. I understand what your saying. When i submit things for STV i do not just submit stuff that i would like to read about,i also submit about other shows.example,i don't watch SPN but i but submit photos i think other would like to see.

  29. Betty and Sally! Yes ofcourse, that is an interesting relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Snow and Emma for me, mainly because that is the only show relationship that I've watched. But it's a great one, however unconventional. The next would be Olivia and Etta from Fringe for me.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Lorelai & Rory, Ijust love their relationship

    ReplyDelete
  32. On OUAT Cora and Regina is the more interesting mother/daughter relationship, IMO.

Torn between Lorelai and Rory and Amy and Maxine. Voted for the Judging Amy duo.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love both Snow/Emma and Rory/Lorelai/Emily but I went with Rory and Lorelai. One of the most dynamic I have ever seen because Lorelai was never afraid to cross the line from friend to mother. Not that she had to with Rory. In a way, I kinda related to them: I've always been the goody-goody and because of my lack of social life and need for a ride to the rare place I went, my mom and I became very close beginning in high school. Still, after I was on my own in college for 6 years, we don't get along as well and as easily as Lorelai and Rory.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Right now for me it's Snow and Emma, but a past mother-daughter relationship I liked was Sydney Bristow and Irina Derevko on Alias. Their relationship was very complicated.

    ReplyDelete
  35. For me Lorelai and Rory. I loved that show because of their relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Although Snow and Emma has the most intriguing storyline, the first best story I saw was Lorelai and Rory from Gilmore Girls. Seriously, she's the best and funniest mother. I do love my mother deeply but sometimes I wished that my mother was her. I could seriously hear her talk for hours and still not be bored..

    ReplyDelete
  37. Snow/Emma on this list as its the only show I watch. Although Olivia/Etta was a good one too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The poll is missing the Cora/Regina option. And Snow/Emma relation just seems so forced.

    ReplyDelete
  39. What about Regina and Cora????

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah! You're SO right! I could kick myself for not thinking of it!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well there is an option for "other" and I brought up quite a few shows not listed on the poll! I agree Fringe had a lot of interesting mother/daughter relationships (It's one of fav explorations), but I also know that Fringe is a bit of a cult show and there are plenty of people that never viewed it. We'll just have to keep standing up for it :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. yep, well aware of the other button, seems i'm using it more and more lately! :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I really loved Lorelai and Rory. Now I love Snow and Emma. I vote for Snow and Emma because of being up-to-date but the Gilmore Girls will always have a place in my tv heart.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Agree on Buffy and Joyce (although it always took backseat, it was a great and realistic relationship) and Anna and Lisa. (also, Diana)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sidney Bristow and Irina Derevko. One of the best and most tragic mother-daughter relationships. My other choice is Rory and Lorelai, they are just so damn perfect, and the whole show was about that.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I love OUaT, but Snow and Emma's relationship is not very interesting. I mean, they are cute together and Iove them, but it is underdeveloped to be as heartwarming as Rory and Lorelai, and with little conflict to be heart-wrenching like Sidney and Irina.

Wait, why isn't Sydney and Irina in this poll?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Gilmore Girls all the way. Love that it's getting so many votes in the wake of other shows that are currently on. Shows how awesome that relationship was.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I really think Snow/Emma is the best Mother/Daughter relationship I've ever seen!! The thing that leaves me speechless and amazed is that their love is so deep and strong to overcome space, time and curses!!! Emma and Snow/MM were a family even before they discovered they actually were!!! And now their bond is stronger than ever!!!

  49. You have absolutely no reason to apologize. These polls are made by a variety of people who watch different shows. We all know that. Thanks so much for creating this poll. It was fun thinking back on some great mother-daughter pairs.

    Buffy/Joyce for sure

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think Chuck/Lily (even though she's not his real mother) from Gossip Girl should've been an option! I really loved their dynamic! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Lorelai/Rory (honorable mention: Lorelai/Emily)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dana and Margaret Scully (The X-Files) - How much Mrs. Scully lost during the course of the show, makes her a strong and fierce woman.

    ReplyDelete
  54. yes, but I won't invest three hours of my life to research other series for a poll I submit. That's all I am saying. I never watched Desperate Housewives, but I added it, because I knew there was a mother/daughter relationship. If I had known Fringe had something like that, I would have added it as well.
I'm a daily visitor or STV and I comment regulary and I love the site and everybody on it, no question.
This website has it's favorites, like SPN and Lost and Fringe and Castle, so it's normal that there are more information about those shows as for... let's say Veep.
I have to use the "Others" button a lot too. That is, because it's a user submitted poll.
But I get you Laura :) Peace

  55. Why no Cora and Regina Once Upon a Time?
