Overall "Hats and Bats" is a very solid opening to the season. If you have any questions please comment below and I'll try to answer them as long as they're not too spoilery. Here are some little teasers for the episode:
- Season 5 opens with a flash forward seeing Ben partying with his new partner Mendoza (guest star Chad Michael Murray).
- Sammy is battling (the still crazy) Tammi over their child.
- John Cooper and his new partner Gary Steele (guest star Derek Ray) get into two pretty "funny" cases, while John's life isn't fun at all.
- Lydia is struggling with motherhood and a Latino rape victim who won't admit what has been done to him.
- Ben is honored with the Police Star for Bravery which only gets him into trouble.
