CW: +67. NBC: +23, CBS: - 7, ABC: -16, Fox: -24
----------
-Winners:
“American Idol” (Fox), “Arrow” (CW), “Modern Family” (ABC), “Criminal Minds “ (CBS), “CSI” (CBS)
-Honorable Mention:
“Survivor: Caramoan” (CBS), “The Middle” (ABC)
-Losers:
“Whitney” (NBC), “Guys With Kids” (NBC), “Suburgatory” (ABC), “Nashville” (ABC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown:
It was another midweek overnight victory for Fox care of two-hours of “American Idol,” which averaged an 8.8 rating/14 share from 8-10 p.m. (peaking at 9:30 p.m. at a 9.1/14). Comparably, however, this was still a loss of 24 percent from the year-ago evening. But a win is still a win.
Second-place CBS, which was close to year-ago levels, featured its regularly scheduled combination of “Survivor: Caramoan” (#2: 5.9/10), “Criminal Minds” (#2: 7.2/12) and “CSI” (#1: 6.7/12). And there is no reason to believe this line-up will change next season.

As we say every week, “Modern Family” was the standout on ABC with a second-place 7.5/12 in the overnights at 9 p.m. last night (-10 percent from one year earlier). And “The Middle” at 8 p.m. was on the map with a third-place 5.5/ 9 at 8 p.m. (- 5 percent from the year-ago night). But sandwiched in between is freshman “The Neighbors,” which dropped off to a typical 4.1/ 7 (#3) at 8:30 p.m. And sophomore “Suburgatory” dipped by 43 percent from “Modern Family” to a fourth-place 4.2/ 7 at 9:30 p.m. That said, ABC may want to think its strategy out of these protected time periods next season.
At 10 p.m., ABC’s critically acclaimed “Nashville” did not impress with a third-place 3.9/ 7, which was 32 percent below year-ago occupant “Revenge” (5.7/10 on 3/01/12).
Over at The CW, freshman “Arrow” earned its renewal stripes with a 2.5/ 4 in the overnights at 8 p.m. -- up 79 percent from year-ago occupant “One Tree Hill” (1.4/ 2 on 3/01/12). And that led into also renewed “Supernatural” at a typical 1.6/ 2 at 9 p.m., which with the lead-in support is an improvement over its year-ago delivery on Friday.
NBC continues to struggle in the Wednesday 8-9 p.m. hour, meanwhile, with sitcoms “Whitney” (#4: 2.7/ 4) and “Guys With Kids” (#4t, 2.5/ 4). Both should be facing the chopping block in the near future. But veteran “Law & Order: SVU” perked up to a 4.4/ 7 from 9-10 p.m. (#4, +100 percent from year-ago occupant “Rock Center With Brian Williams”) and compatible “Chicago Fire,” also from Dick Wolf, held in the overnights with a 4.5/ 8 at 10 p.m. “Chicago Fire” is a shoo-in for renewal, while the potential return of “SVU” depends on if a financial deal can be arranged.

Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the

O_O MIRACLE!MIRACLE!!!Marc didn't say anything bad about Supernatural!!!!Haha :P I am so glad SPN is doing so good at its ratings :D
ReplyDeleteI always want to comment on his forum about his unnecessary bashing of Supernatural, but I never find the page in his website. Anyways, yesterdays was a good episode.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't bash SPN this week or last and he does have a FB page for people who want to comment about any show...
ReplyDeleteNothing to say about Supernatural is it? Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteWhat people really need to do is stop baiting him. Just be happy that the show is still on the air, lord knows it would have been cancelled after Season 1 had it aired on any of the other networks. Glad for Arrow! The one true bright spot for the CW!
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for the week when SPN beats Arrow in the demo, they've tied a couple of times and last week SPN's half hours were 1.0/0.9 while Arrow's were 0.9/0.9 but in the finals they both had a 0.9. So its edged close but not quite there yet. I think it may happen eventually.
ReplyDeleteAlthough you may be right about Supernatural, it is impossible to tell how it would have fared on another network. Supernatural was reasonably well rated its first season on the WB. The decision to move it from Tuesday at 9:00 to Thursday at 9:00 had its ratings drop, but initially it was not doing poorly and might well have caught on to be a show that performed well enough to continue on another network. Plus the merger of UPN and the WB saw their shows take a bit of a ratings dive since the new network had to renegotiate to find affiliates.
ReplyDeleteIt is impossible to predict how Supernatural would have fared on another network. Had it been paired with 24 on Fox or Lost on ABC, for example, Supernatural could have found a home and survived.
It's possible, it's already close enough and tied a few times already.
ReplyDeleteno show currently on the CW would have even made it to a script order at any other network, that includes Arrow.
ReplyDeleteBerman is a classic retentionista - that has been his problem with SPN. It's only been during the past few airings where the demo has matched or been close to Arrow, that he has conceded that SPN is a compatible fit.
ReplyDeleteHoly Nashville!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Chicago Fire. Not many people believed in this show (me included), but CF is a winner.
Oh Nashville! That is not good!
ReplyDeleteI beg to disagree, I think Arrow had the potential to be on another network but the CW has a nice relationship with Warner Bros and DC which made it a perfect fit there. Assuming the CW goes under and ABC's SHIELD pilot gets picked up (which it will) I'm pretty sure CBS, NBC or FOX would go great lengths to obtain the rights to Arrow for competition
ReplyDeletesvu continues to lose viewers, will it be renewed anyway?
ReplyDeleteBerman shows CBS demo for night at 2.4 - that is impossible with Sur 2.6, CM 2.6 and CSI 1.9. I think CSI is a typo. That is a huge drop-off in demo and not much change in audience - it doesn't add up to any historical CM/CSI pairings this season.
ReplyDeleteI've double checked the numbers we were sent. CSI: 1.8, CM 2.6 and Survivor 2.6
ReplyDeletedo you think CSI might be in danger ?
ReplyDeleteMaybe a change of timeslot next season ?
Pretty sure CSI will get renewed. No idea what plans CBS have for next year. I guess we'll have to wait to see what other shows it cancels and what pilots it picks up
ReplyDeleteI need SVU like a voyeur needs a branch. Pls renew.
ReplyDeleteI have a question!
ReplyDeleteIs the average of 6 million Viewers good for NBC (Am thinking of Chicago Fire) Is it good just because the late hour? or doesn't that matter?
Please help me understand, thanks! :)
I like that SPN stayed the same I like it more if it goes up more but Its not going down in the rating.
ReplyDeleteActually I thought he did say something bad. Or snarky at least, about SPN.
ReplyDeleteAnd that led into also renewed “Supernatural” at a typical 1.6/ 2 at 9
p.m., which with the lead-in support is an improvement over its year-ago
delivery
Basically saying that SPN's ratings were stagnant but the same, and that Arrow is the reason it's improved since last year.
if they cancel NASHVILLE my life is over.
ReplyDeleteHi Jonathan Jansson This post will probably help

Will show you where each show are in relation to each other.
Alright, thanks a lot! :D
ReplyDeletethey might try to obtain the rights to Arrow (I seriously doubt it) but it would be with a whole new script, writing teams, production team, show runner, cast. Lets not forget this show is only averaging a 1.1 so its not like they would lust move the show over to one of these networks.
