On Monday night we see the first episode of the traditional 2-parter for this season begin. Let's quickly recap on the 2-parters for the past 3 seasons, and how they've rated

Season 2, Episodes 17 & 18

Part 1: Tick, Tick, Tick

Rating: 3.3
Audience: 12.21 million

Lead-in: Dancing With The Stars
Rating: 6.4
Audience: 24.19 million

Part 2: Boom

Rating: 3.5 (Series high)
Audience: 13.86 (Series high)

Lead-in: Dancing With The Stars
Rating: 6.0
Audience: 24.00 million

Season 3, Episodes 16 & 17

Part 1: Setup

Rating: 2.6
Audience: 8.99 million

Lead-in: The Bachelor
Rating: 3.4
Audience: 10.41

Part 2: Countdown

Rating: 2.8
Audience: 10.11

Lead-in: The Bachelor
Rating: 3.5
Audience: 11.33 million

Season 4, Episodes 15 & 16

Part 1: Pandora

Rating: 2.0
Audience: 8.86 million

Lead-in: The Bachelor
Rating: 2.5
Audience: 8.09

Part 2: Linchpin

Rating : 2.1
Audience: 9.73 million

Lead-in: The Bachelor
Rating: 2.5
Audience: 8.18 million

In all three 2-parters, the ratings have increased for the second episode of the 2-parter. But with the ratings and audience for this season being pretty low in comparison to previous seasons, will this trend continue??

  4. I'm thinking a 2.0 and then a 2.2. And no trouble :-)

  5. I'll say 2.1 (part 1) and 2.3 (part 2). But of course I hope they get higher ratings.

  6. People voting for 2.4 or above are living in dream land here. There's no way it's going to outperform last seasons by 0.3/0.4, especially when its ratings overall are down this year.

    for Hunt i voted 2.1

  8. I'll go with 2.0 for "Target" and a 2.3 for "Hunt"... Voting for 2.4 or above is living a lie. Castle is a 5 years show which stands up for itself... These ratings are good and it's obvious the show will return for a sisth season... This said, i'll be ok with Season 7 being it's last...

  9. I'm expecting a great suspenseful episode in 'Target', with lots of feels [now that it involves Alexis]. I like her character, don't know why people hate her so much. Also, when Castle's ex-wife said she didn't really know him, everybody started to expect a bit more of Castle's inner self. This will make more and more people that watched the series before [not only the regular fandom] want to watch.
Unfortuanely, I can't say much about how rating and audience will be ):

  10. Not a Castle fan, but I notice the second parters get higher ratings. I wonder how many other shows this is true for.

  11. I've seen a lot of hate towards Alexis in forums and fanpages. Personally, I just know one or two folks to watch Castle, and they have nothing against her.

  12. Castle is a great show, amazing cast and brilliant actors, sadly its averaging only 2 in demo this season, i will be more than happy if the two parter are 2 and above
