Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 1E - Polls

4 Jan 2013

Share on Reddit

Before people ask why in the world this is the picture for today's poll, let me explain. I have been taking the losing song-to-scene with the most votes and using a screencap of it because I was getting bored with the title card. My other options today were too much...um Ready for Love, or the pre-Impala scene where they both look like fish because they are about to kiss. I chose this one instead.

There were no huge winners in yesterday's polls which may not bode well for any of their chances in the long run or it may just be a tribute to their competition. Advancing to round two are Heat of the Moment (79%), Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (75%), These Boots were Made for Walking (55%), and Don't Fear the Reaper (73%). This by the way concludes the first half of round one with 4 more days to go.

Below are links for Contest basics like a ranking list of episodes in the contest, a bracket for the competition, and videos for the scenes in today's polls. Please remember that a great song or a great scene do not a great song-to-scene make. This contest requires us to go beyond our favorites to really analyze how the two go together. If you are confused about the difference, please ask in the comments or read the contest rules in the Contest Basics link. Thanks so much and as always, happy voting!

  1. 1. Wanted Dead Or Alive - The only time Dean (and Sam) have sung that I thought fit the situation perfectly, with Dean being a wanted man.

    2. Knight Rider Theme - A literal on the nose fit, but still.

    3. Neither of these make my finals, but I voted Walking On Sunshine.

    4. What A Wonderful World - Great fit to the scene. I loved Ode to Joy too though, it also fit its scene, so I'm sad it was up against What A Wonderful World.

  2. 1. I think Wanted Dead or Alive is perfect.
    2. The Knight Rider Theme was also perfect in my opinion. I could see the Impala with the lights going across it's grill. The voice of Sam in place of KITT was hilarious and perfect as far song to scene goes.
    3. The only reason I chose You Sexy Thing was Eve gave this impression of a very sexy, hot woman trying to hit on men and women. That's it. Both songs sucked eggs as far as even making it this far. They truly had nothing to do with the scene.
    4. It's a Wonderful World hits the nail on the head as far as song for the scene. The sad thing is I wanted to vote for Ode to Joy also. I hate it when this happens.

  3. Wanted Dead or Alive.

    That moment illuminates one of my favourite aspects of Dean's character.; his love and concern in comforting his little brother. The song to scene was perfect.

    X

    The Kitt theme was impeccable for its scene too; it coudldn't have been tailored better. Then I just loved Sam as Kitt and Dean as Hasslehoff. LoL!

    I like Reo's song but It didn't really reflect anything pertinent to the scene.

    X

    The next two are both songs that have no particular reference to their scenes. I'll pass.

    X

    What A Wonderful World ; a perfect song for a perfect world but as Utopia doesn't exist the perceived perfection soon begins to shed its skin layer by layer like an onion.

  4. I could only cast a vote in the first and last poll. The other two are ridiculous and for song-to-scene, undeserving (IMO).

    Wanted Dead or Alive, and What a Wonderful World got my votes.

    As for my song wishlist...For a very, very long time it's been Midnight Rider by The Allman Brothers Band. It's perfect. All I see when I hear it is images of the Impala and the guys, riding along on the long road ahead of them.

  5. "Wanted Dead or Alive" - no questions here;

    "Knight Rider Theme" - very hilarious, brings back the times when i used to watch the "Knight Rider", and also fits very well to the scene;

    "You Sexy Thing" - well since both are not the best matches for scenes so i picked the song i like more;

    "Ode to Joy" - both are very good songs to the scenes they were used in, and since this one sadly will not go through, it gets my vote.

  6. 1) Wanted Dead or Alive - the scene hurts to watch but that's
    ....why its so good. Feel Alright has nothing to do with the scene really.

    2) Knight Rider - that scene simply would not have worked if they hadn't been able to get

    .....the rights to play it.

    3) This one is so difficult to me. Walking on Sunshine is just such an awesome fit for introducing this character..But You Sexy Thing is a nice juxtiposition with what's happening in this scene and the lines of the song that permeate my consciousness...'Where did you come from baby?' brought this one to the front. So I'm picking You Sexy Thing.

  7. Oh man, no contest for this one..Wanted Dead or Alive, hits the nail on the head.

    Knight Rider..perfect for scene

    Pass on this one

    This is the hard one for me, I loved Ode to Joy and it fit so well, but What a Wonderful World just makes this Dean scene, so World it is.

  9. Check out the great picture TVbythenumbers used to advertise the PCA show.

  10. I am also sad about Ode to Joy. Many of the best are being voted out way too quickly. Too bad it wasn't nominated higher.

  11. The rankings have been particularly cruel in this contest.

  12. I was rolling when I heard Sam's voice and saw those lights flash. It was a major shock in an episode full of shocks - Trickster as Gabriel, herpes commercial/ I'm getting an overwhelming desire to watch Changing Channels again.

  13. Great choice with Midnight Rider. It reminds me of Henricksen.

  14. It almost feels like we need a run-off of songs that went out of the contest too quickly. I'm glad you voted for Ode to Joy. I voted for What a Wonderful World but both choices deserved better than being against each other in round 1.

  15. The Wanted Dead or Alive scene is another example of Supernatural at its most bittersweet. This show does bittersweet so very well.

  16. It's going to be very hard for me to vote against What a Wonderful World. As hard as it was to pick in this poll, I am dreading having to choose between Wanted Dead or Alive and What a Wonderful World. I may have to abstain because they are both too good in that one.

  17. I love how they mention Jensen Ackles first in their list of hottest stars. Yeah, I know its alphabetical but I'll take what I can get in Supernatural promotion. I guess the PCA's learned their lesson after shafting SPN fans last year.

  18. it's a great song, and though I've loved it since childhood only in the last few years has it become a pseudo SPN-anthem for me! I would love so much to see it on the show. :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Maybe they did...I noted 3 CW actors on the list. I haven't forgiven them and I don't *really* believe they learned their lesson. I was tempted to power vote for a CW show just to see what would happen if one won again.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I also have not forgotten or forgiven them, tried to email them last year, but could never get one to go thru.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Not surprising. They didn't respect the fans enough to respect their choice why should they respect you enough to listen to your comments directly.
