Supernatural - Alternative Universe Part 1 - Podcast

13 Jan 2013

It's a completely positive podcast. Yes, you heard right. Of course we are discussing What is and What Should Never Be and It's a Terrible Life as the first part of the alternative universes podcast. The End and My Heart Will Go On will be in the second half. I'll post the first part of the time travel episodes later this week too.

  1. I love these two episodes. It was such a joy to talk about Supernatural in a positive light without no caveats or exceptions.

  2. I didn't like It's A Terrible Life a lot, but WIAWNSB is one of my favorites.

  3. LOL I am the exact opposite. I didn't care for WIAWNSB but I really liked It's a Terrible Life.

  4. These two are both on my top Supernatural episodes list. Actually The End, which is in part 2, is also on that list. I really like alternative episodes I guess.

  5. I really enjoyed listening to this podcast; it's probably my favourite so far.

It's just so good to hear a discussion on two such wonderful episodes.

I love alternate universe episodes because they show us our heroes in an "alien" landscape and it's fascinating to watch how they deal with the various aspects of it.

I would say that 'It's ATerrible Life 'is the more alternate of the two because the Winchesters didn't even know each other let alone that they were brothers, while in WIAWSNB Dean/ they did, therefore the former was more fascinating to watch as far as AU's go.

However WIAWSNB is a marvellous episode. It had everything, emotion, humour, drama and it showed us how the brothers lives could have been without hunting.

As far as the girls were concerned,I much preferred Carmen to Jess. I found her to be perfect for Dean; she seemed to understand him perfectly and was able to give him the stability and love that he needed.

On the other hand I found Jess to be slighly "snobbish" and less appealing, in this ep anyway.

    So many sweet moments.Sigh!

I just love the scene in the car where Dean throws away Sam's phone, etc, etc!

Okay! I'll stop here otherwise I'll babble on.

IATL is just as good for me.

A terrific episode from start to finish.

It was great seeing the two strangers the boys were at the beginning, coming together and bonding.

I even liked the ghostfacers here, especially when they talked about the Winchesters and Sam and Dean were listening in without realising it was them.

The line about digging up corpses being illegal in some states, no in all states always makes me smile.

Zachariah's speech was great and reminded me of the similar one at the end of "The Real Ghostbuster" delivered by the false Sam and Dean, about how lucky Dean was in doing what he did, saving the world every day and having a brother who would die for him

My thoughts about the fire poker is that after they got rid of the ghost, Sam took it with him for for precaution and kept it under his desk just in case any other spooks turned up, so it was really really handy when he flipped out with the phone. :)

I could watch these two episodes in repitition, they are so good.

Looking forward to your next podcast and although I love "The End" too, it's much darker and for that reason alone it will take third place to these two with "MHWGO" taking up the rear.

    Thanks again to you both.:)

  6. This is actually the only hiatus special edition we did after season 8 started, given that the first take over the summer had a lot of sound issues. Therefore it was my favorite podcast too. It was such a relief to be talking about SPN in a positive light again and to remember exactly why I have loved this show so much for 7 years. I also can and sometimes do watch these episodes in repetition.
