-Ratings Breakdown:
Only CBS and Fox were in originals last night, and the Eye net’s winning combination of The Big Bang Theory (12.4 rating/19 share), Two and a Half Men (9.5/15), Person of Interest (9.7/15) and Elementary (7.7/13) outdelivered the four competing networks combined. The Big Bang Theory is poised to top the week, no doubt, in both total viewers and adults 18-49 now that Sunday Night Football on NBC is over. Back-to-back episodes of Mobbed on Fox (which is a burn-off maneuver at this point) averaged a lackluster 2.1/ 3 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m.

Elsewhere, ABC populated the evening with an 8 p.m. encore of Wednesday freshman drama Nashville (#2: 2.5/ 4), which it is trying to attract new eyeballs for, and two repeats of sophomore Scandal (9 p.m.: #2, 2.6/ 4; 10 p.m.: #2, 2.9/ 5). NBC aired encores of 30 Rock (#3, 2.0/ 3), which concludes its seven-season run on January 31, Up All Night (#4: 1.8/ 3), The Office (#4: 1.8/ 3), Parks and Recreation (#4: 1.5/ 2) and Rock Center With Brian Williams (#3: 2.8/ 4). Rock Center moves to Fridays at 10 p.m. out of two-hours of Dateline effective on February 8. And The CW capped off this first Thursday in January with repeats of The Vampire Diaries (#5: 0.8/ 1) and Beauty and the Beast (#5: 0.8/ 1).

Like any typical season, the first week of the New Year is always riddled with repeats.

  4. New series high for POI? Looks like it. TBBT is a monster too. Why isn't CBS giving POI the post-bowl slot again? Guess they wanna give Elementary every chance it can. I suppose the lack of competition helped a lot. But still, amazing numbers all around. CBS must be very happy. 16+ mil for POI is pretty amazing for today's TV landscape.

  8. I think they try to save that coveted slot for new shows that need some help, which describes Elementary perfectly right now. There's no reason to give POI that slot because it's already an established show. The NCIS's get 20+ mil per week. I'm just glad that POI is doing so well. It was a show that I broke my personal policy of not watching the first season for. I like to see if a show is going to make it first before I start watching, so I don't usually watch the first season. But I made an exception for POI. I predicted it's success as soon as I saw the first promo and boy was I right lol. It's also the fastest growing show on network TV right now.
