Person of Interest - Season 2 - Casting News - Sarah Shahi to Recur

8 Jan 2013

She will play Shaw, a fearless, sexy and witty operative in a secret paramilitary organization that tracks and eliminates terrorists before they can act. As POI creator/executive producer Jonathan Nolan put it, “if James Bond and Sarah Connor had a kid, Shaw would kick its ass.” Shahi will first appear in the February 21 episode titled Relevance, which will be directed Nolan. For now, Shahi has been booked for an arc this season, but I hear she may continue in Season 3.

  2. Thank you! Someone was smart enough to snatch her up after Fairly Legal was canceled.

  3. I thought she had a recurring role on Chicago Fire?

  6. Friend or foe? That seems to be the pertinent question here. :)

  7. That`s still a terrible show.

  8. Awesome news. Curious if Shaw will end up being a recurring ally (like Zoe) or a recurring villain (like so many people on the show).

  9. To be honest? I've waited quite a long time for news like that. Especially the info about the episode. Title like "Relevance" (numbers relevant/irrelevant, it's kind of the mother of the whole plot) and Nolan directing it imply that this episode could be a milestone for the show. Something really groundbreaking. AND this is the middle of season 2. Looking back, I can notice that pattern in many shows (f.e. we met Ben Linus in the middle of Lost's season 2) - they used to change, evolved, somewhere there, near the episode 2x15. But the most important analogy I can notice is with Fringe. From the beginning, Person of Interest is created like Fringe. Great pilot episode, mysterious plot hidden in the background not to reveal too much too early, and a lot of 'case-of-the-week' episodes to gain bigger audience in the beginning, so that the show wouldn't become too complicated at first. And Fringe changed with 2x15, "Peter", evolving to one of the most ingenious and ambitious shows I've ever seen. Person of Interest is exciting, intriguing, but still it can get better, because the writers haven't made the best of it. And now it's the time, and I will believe that with this epiosde, maybe with this character, POI will finally become a real blockbuster.

  11. yum I love some Sarah Shahi especially in a role described like that, but I kinda felt that Paige Turco's character had similar elements to her... perhaps they will go head to head in the future... lol I do hope that Sarah's character will be an ally for the team as with HR, Elias, Root, and Julian Sand's character, they could use one

  12. Yeah I agree that this could be a huge episode. Especially given the character description. We know that Reese and Finch handle the civilian side of the Machine, if you will. Shaw sounds like the Reese for the part of the government that handles the stopping of terrorist attacks before they happen. So basically Finch and Reese's other half I guess you could say. POI just keeps getting better and better. I'm just so proud that I called the show's success from the first promo I saw more than a year ago. I just hope Shaw isn't a bad character (I don't mean a villain, that's fine. I mean a lousy character that nobody likes). The last character named Shaw that I saw was Daniel Shaw on Chuck and that was a disaster. I'm sure Chuck fans know what I mean. Anyway, looking forward to this.

  13. I think Daniel Shaw was great in season 3 of Chuck, but after he's return on season 4 or 5 and I don't like much.

  15. NBC can make a brilliant drama, and they can make something that belong more down than the garbage. Awake was one of the most amazing shows these last couple of years. Parks And Rec is one of the best comedys around. 30 Rock is good.

But seriously, i dont understand why people like Chicago Fire. It`s just a rehash of thing seen before on tv. It`s nothing special about it, and even i who liked most of the cast couldnt enjoy it.

  17. They can make a brilliant drama, but they can't keep them. Case in point: Life, Southland, and Prime Suspect.
