Lost Girl - Tamsin character bio

5 Jan 2013

Tamsin (Rachel Skarsten)
A kick-ass cop with trust issues and a generous anti-authorative streak. She’s bi-sexual, up for anything and running from everything. A warrior (literally; she’s a Valkyrie), Tamsin is a tomboy with great instincts and an infectious lust for life – though she shuts down when questioned about her dark past. A sexy, beer drinking, bar brawling, fiercely loyal anti-hero.
Linda Hamilton will guest star as her mother.

  1. That's a very specific rundown. Nice. The viking thing should be cool but the bi-sexual thing is a big eye-roll for me because it raises the obvious red flag that Lost Girl is going to try to throw her at Bo. Besides, if they do throw her at Bo I'm going to have to put up with the unyielding hate from Lauren groupies.

  2. They're also throwing her at Dyson so you'll have to put up with hate, anyway.

  3. She's his new partner. Sharing screen time is an inevitability. If it does become intimate, the flack won't nearly be as bad as it will if Tamsin pairs up with Bo. Some viewers even came to like Ciara last season before she was taken off the table. That won't happen with Tamsin if she becomes a love interest for Bo.

The Lauren fans take a page from Sam Jackson in Pulp Fiction. In a nutshell, their philosophy is (to paraphrase) "I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my precious Bo-Lauren 'ship."

  4. That is probably because Ciara was much more likable and had much more substance than Nadia ever did. Nadia was a convenient plot device. And from what I see on the web from Doccubus fans, they are actually quite excited about the possibility of a Bo/Tamsin hook-up.

  5. I like her bio VERY much. Here's hoping she won't be a female version of Ryan.

  6. I don't think many people ever took Nadia seriously as a threat. I certainly didn't. I figured that she was doomed from the moment she was first mentioned, as opposed to Ciara who had a number of fans hoping she'd find a way to stick around.

And from what I see on the web from Doccubus fans, they are actually
quite excited about the possibility of a Bo/Tamsin hook-up. It's
Lauren/someone else they don't want to see.

Interesting. That's news to me. I was unaware that there is a contingent of Lauren fans who have adopted a "Bo or no one" philosophy. Thanks for the info.

  7. That is actually true. I myself prefer Bo/Lauren to Bo/Dyson and I have zero issues with Bo hooking up with others, be it male or female. It's her nature. I'm quite excited about the prospect of Tamsin and I hope she will be tied to the overall arc and not just be there to shake things up in the triangle department.

  8. I ship a lot of f/f couples canon or not ( well mostly not .... :D) but I never really like Bo/Lauren.... Maybe it's because and don't particulary like Lauren (and the actress playing her....) So go Bo/EveryoneEsle male, female or both ;) it's her nature!

  9. Same here. I'm actually excited about Bo hooking up with other women. She is supposed to be bisexual, not Lauren sexual.

  10. Ha! Fair enough, Pauline. :)

  11. I ship Bo/Lauren but is it even possible for Bo to be monogamous with anyone longterm really? And consider Lauren IS human, would Bo really want to spend her life with someone knowing she will grow older than them? These are just concerns I have.

  12. There are plenty of Bo/Dyson groupies who get just as pathetic. Trust me they post all over Bo/Lauren threads. I find it highly strange when fans to that. Go ship your own ship and leave every one else alone. I don't go whine on Bo/Dyson threads because I have no reason to bother reading them. I am quite sure there are a number of Bo/Lauren fans that do go type stupid comments because I see them on general threads too but it works both ways. It's just more annoying when its not your ship bitching. I think everyone should just live happily together in a Lost Girl love in. Let's be honest Bo is gonna get frisky with them both and several other people over the course of the season. Let's just share the love :-p

  13. I can agree with this. I avoid fan boards for any and every show at all costs so, as long as the 'shipper flaming doesn't make its way to Spoiler TV then I'll be fine. As you mention, because of Bo's nature she'll probably keep jumping from person to person so I've never seen the point in investing in any particular relationship of hers.

  14. That's hardly their biggest issue. Bo wouldn't be the first to get romantically involved with a human. And lifespan is a very subjective thing, even when dealing with 2 humans. You could marry your highschool sweetheart and they can be gone the very next die. Bo is a warrior, chances are she could die before Lauren and Kenzi. And this is fiction, after all. There is always a way. I think Bo and Lauren's biggest doc-block, at least for the time being, is Bo's dark side. That can't be healthy... for anyone.

  15. "but is it even possible for Bo to be monogamous with anyone longterm really?"

That question is why I don't bother investing in these pairings and just enjoy the show for what it is and hope the writing holds up.

  16. I wasn't a fan of Ryan Lambert so any duplicate version of him would be an unwelcome one for me.

  17. It's in response to the silly writers making it that Dyson only has one love. So to counterbalance the idea that Dyson can't be happy with anyone else, they don't want Lauren with anyone else either (it's an inconvenient argument given the Nadia precedent, but they seem to like it).

The writers really backed themselves into a corner there. It maybe the single dumbest writing decision Lost Girl ever made.

  19. No arguments here.

  20. That and the giving it away without a plan for how to "show" that were pretty much the downfall of S2. And they still don't have a way out. I kinda wonder if Michelle Lovretta took her solution with her and is sitting at home laughing at Firestone as we speak.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'd hope she's not doing that because isn't Lovretta supposed to have written a few Lost Girl episodes this season?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think she did, but I don't think she a part in the overall direction.

  23. I'm biased as I think Rachel Skarsten is great and am very much looking forward to this...

though technically I was already before finding out about her casting but more so now :-)

  24. I like Lost GIrl a lot, but really dislike Dyson so Bo with anyone but Dyson is pretty good in my book.

  25. Of course it's a female character who's bisexual- God forbid they actually have a guy on the show who's gay or bisexual (I want to see an incubus!). That really seems to pander to straight male audience. But whatever, I'm willing to give her a chance and we could use more kickass women fae on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  26. If it makes you feel any better they are pandering to lesbians as much as they are pandering to straight males.

  27. Hope she has a steamy scene with Bo. I ship Bo/Lauren but yeah, always happy and looking forward to some grl on girl. That's actually the reason I watch this show.
