“It was great [to get another season],” he told Access Hollywood at the “Afternoon Delight” premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. “When there was fear that we were suddenly just going to not come back, it felt a little weird to end like, oh, 10 more episodes and you’re done with this massive chapter of your life.”

I’m a big “How I Met Your Mother" fan. Are you happy with how things are progressing? This season has been a little odd.

I am. I’m very stoked that everyone agreed to a Season 9. We have been waiting, literally months and months and months to find out whether the whole thing was going to end this season or one more. It isn’t, thankfully, not going to go 10, 11 or 12 seasons because no one wants that, but with a Season 9, they have a really great idea for the entire season that is appropriate for waiting so long for answers. And conversely I’m happy we didn’t have to spend eight seasons dancing around a question and then have to answer it in three episodes.

    Well, at least we have semi-official confirmation, but where the hell is the official CBS confirmation? This is driving me up the wall.

    And a little sad that we definitely know season nine will be it even though it's expected.

    I'm very happy about this I really want a happy satisfying ending to this show and I'm glad we will be getting that. If there wasn't a season 9 this season would be extremely rushed so it's nice that the cast are saying that there's going to be one final season to just make the series more complete and not rushed.

    I really hope the mother appears in the end of this season! Would me amazing to see the ninth with the mother as part of the regular cast!
