Sean Patrick Flanery will give Dexter some Indy cred when he plays a major part in the Showtime drama’s upcoming eighth season.

The actor formerly known for playing the title role in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles joins the cabler as Jacob Elroy, a former cop-turned-private eye in Miami, our sister site Deadline reports.

  1. That's awesome, I like Sean Patrick Flannery. Indy cred indeed, maybe they can get a cameo from Norman Reedus.

  2. Deb's love interest? Doubt it.

  3. Maybe he'll be working on LaGuertas case.
    Well, if he will, RIP.

  4. Well, in the casting calls there was noted that the character is supposed to be handsome, sort of a womanizer. And Jennifer Carpenter spoke in one interview about how she wants Deb to meet the perfect guy and be finally happy with him... I really hope that this isn't it, probably it isn't, but I'm still afraid...

  5. And I absolutely support that she finds some happiness. But she's still confused about her feelings for Dexter, isn't she? Although that didn't stop her from flirting with Price.

But still. Former cop, working as P.I.? It looks to me like he's working on LaGuertas case. If she disappears, or her body is found, in both cases there will be an investigation. But isn't it that how she met Lundy? During an investigation?

  6. Oh, me too, I just don't think it should be with a completely new guy... And given everything that happened in this season, how similarly damaged Dexter and Debra are now... I can't see any of them being truly happy without the other one, whether we like it or not.
And yes, that's how she met Lundy... But this time she's the killer which slightly changes the environment :) Well, it's definitely gonna be interesting. One of the things I was thinking about is - will Debra get LaGuerta's job? It would be logical decision of Miami Metro, though that would make Debra feel even more horrible and maybe even go slightly crazy...
Anyway, Scott Buck said that in the next season we'll mainly explore the past of Dexter and parts of his personality and story that nobody knew about... And THAT would be something I would like to watch - sticking to the main storyline and closing it slowly, rather than bringing too much too important new characters and storylines :)

  7. Well, we discussed the matter of Dex and Debs relationship countless times. They were always close, since they were kids. They love each other. And there is nothing they wouldn't do for each other. Lie, cheat, kill, … And I admire this kind of love and commitment between siblings (even, if they are not related). It's nice to see. We have proof that he would stop at nothing to protect her. He killed his own brother for her, and betrayed Hannah (not that I'm not happy. She was dangerous and it was the right thing to do). And she proved the same by lying for him, keeping his secret and now killing LaGauerta.

"But this time she's the killer" True. I still wonder how she will handle this. I mean, sure, she killed before. But this was different. She killed an unarmed, drugged, innocent woman. A bitch, but still. If he would hit on her, she could use it. But it's not her style.

I doubt that she will get LaGuertas job. In 10 years, maybe. She's just too young and inexperienced. Many cops had doubts when she became Lt. Remember Mike when he first met her? He ordered a coffee, like she was a waitress.
Yes, I look forward into exploring Dexters past too. Did SB said Dexters past, or Dexters and Debs past? Well, there is no Dex without Deb.

And it doesn't matter if there is just a S8 or a S8 and S9. They promised to finish it properly. If I hate something more than waiting for the next season, it's an open end for a show they knew won't be back. Surface, Prey, Reaper, Secret Circle, Highlander: Raven, … To just name a few.

  8. Why do I have a feeling that he'll end up as Debra's love interest? :( Nothing against Sean Patrick Flannery, he's great and seems good for the role. I just don't want to see any new love interests at this point, this is the final, eights season for crying out loud!

BTW so we yet don't have any info about whether Hannah returns or not?
