The CW now officially has 3 pilots for next season, The Originals, The Selection and Company Town.
Set 300 years in the future, The Selection is described as an epic romance centering on a working class young woman chosen by lottery to participate in a competition with 25 other women for the Royal Prince’s hand to become the nation’s next queen. Balancing her loyalty to family, true love, and kingdom, she must attempt to remain true to herself as she navigates the cutthroat competition and palace intrigue, all while a budding rebellion threatens to topple the crown. Warner Bros. TV is producing.
Written by Sera Gamble and to be directed by Taylor Hackford, Company Town chronicles the aftermath of a scandal at a Naval base in Virginia, which touches the lives of both civilians and military personnel in the area. The multigenerational, multi-class, family and relationship series centers around two early 20something women who grew up together, were once best friends, but now are on opposite sides of the Townie/Military divide. Gamble and Hackford executive produce with Bill Haber for CBS TV Studios.

Would like to see The Selection, not sure about the other one.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check the crew but I think Company Town was in development at CBS a few years ago, and I'm pretty sure it's the same one because the plot logline sounds the same.
ReplyDeleteIf the pilots are any good, they can easily end up picking both of them.
ReplyDeleteFor next year the CW has Arrow,VD and Supernatural for sure.I also believe that The Originals is pretty much a done deal.
90210,The Carrie Diaries,Heart of Dixie,Beauty and the Beast: Two of them will probably go.
The Sera Gamble pilot sounds awful
ReplyDeleteThe Selection I have no doubt will make it to series, the CW are determined to get it on the air and have invested a lot of time in making sure it comes out right.
Can't they be sued for The Selection??? I mean... It's way too Battle Royale/Hunger Games, and while Collins explained from where she come up with the idea(true or not, it doesn't matter... The thing is that is explained) how can The CW explaine this xD
ReplyDeleteThis is obviously a Hunger Games(It's going to be more like Collin's book than Battle Royale) rip off... TVD was a real book series(They launched it cause of Twilight but it was adapted from something), but this...
Hopefully it's going to be a good show... It just remembered me about the Blade thing on Community Jajaja
I have no interest in Company Town and I have very little interest in The Selection (the cast for the last pilot was awful) so that makes The Originals the frontrunner with me by default.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure The Selection is also a book,so they shouldn't have an problems(like they didn't have with VD).
ReplyDeleteSera has good ideas... her execution is usually what falls flat.
ReplyDeleteStill interested in The Selection. I wonder who (if any) of the cast from last year's pilot will be back....
ReplyDeleteSera... See I know her writing, a little too well. She can take a good idea and just not deliver. And this idea is just "mmmmkay".... I don't know. I'll probably give her the benefit of the doubt. Plus casting et all can go a long way....
Really?? I didn't know that! I'm gonna do a search on google about that! Thx for the tip! ;)
ReplyDeleteCompany Town doesn't sound like it would fit with The CW's demographic, but Sera Gamble is a great writer so I'm interested in seeing more of it.
ReplyDeleteThe Selection is a no brainer. It needs to go to series.
"The Selection is a no brainer. It needs to go to series."
ReplyDeleteThat's what everyone said last year and it didn't happen.
Obviously The Selection hasn't lived up to The CW's standards, but it's ideal for their target audience, so I can see why they've been working as hard as they have to get it moving.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with that. The CW desperately wants to find a version of this show that will work.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it "fits" the network, but just cause the concept is good doesn't mean the show will be too. (and this from someone who's been interested in this pilot from the get go...)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't have said it better myself.
ReplyDeleteAt the risk of sounding way too girly for my taste, I really hope The Selection gets picked.
ReplyDeleteGo Sera. I hope your show is a great success!
ReplyDeleteThe Selection sounds interesting, hopefully they'll order it to series this time around. Not sure about the other one... It sounds like an odd mix between Pretty Little Liars and Last Resort... not in a good way unfortunately...
ReplyDeleteThe Gamble pilot doesn't really sound that bad. It's got a decent premise if it isn't cheesed up... I won't be watching it but heck it could be worse...
ReplyDeleteGo CW! It's not your time to go :-) Selection looks good, and I'm seriously looking forward to The Originals. The Town looks weird :-/ but I hope that CW is heading to right direction and will only go on :-)
ReplyDelete"Still interested in The Selection. I wonder who (if any) of the cast from last year's pilot will be back...."
ReplyDeleteI just read on another site that Aimee Teegarden (who played the female lead in the first pilot) is no longer attached to the project. So there's that.
Still want to see the selection very much
ReplyDeleteThe Selection is a book but the ONLY thing in common with THG is the fact that girls are chosen to participate in the competition for the prince's wife spot. Actually the competition is only about being a lady, wearing good looking dresses and being away from their families. So far there has not been any fights or blood spilling.
