TVLine has learned that the network is pulling the acclaimed, ratings-challenged rookie comedy from the schedule, effective immediately.
Beginning next Tuesday, back-to-back episodes of Raising Hope will air from 8-9 pm through February (except on Feb. 9, when Hope will lead into an encore of New Girl at 8:30/7:30c). Hope‘s one-hour season finale will air Thursday, March 28 following American Idol.

Quite strange. TVGuide has deleted taht tweet after a couple of minutes...
ReplyDeleteWell that sucks... Shame it wasn't a Two and a Half Men clone...
ReplyDeleteI hope a confirmation comes soon. This was my favorite new show of the season. It was my only favorite new show of the season.
ReplyDeleteOh come on now ! Yesterday it was Don't Trust the B---- and now Ben & Kate ?
ReplyDeleteYes, B&K isn't the comedy of the century, but the chemistry in the cast is pretty great and there some funny moments here and there.
What I don't get is how The Mindy Project (of which I hated the pilot despite really liking Mindy Kaling on The Office) is any safer than Ben & Kate : TMP pulls 1.5 on A18-49 after New Girl (which is consistently higher than the amazing Raising Hope). If you switch Ben & Kate with TMP, I bet TMP will bomb and Ben & Kate will rise a little bit to what TMP is currently doing.
Ben & Kate was going to be cancelled, we knew that, given its ratings it was a long time coming, but I'm sad that FOX didn't even try to put ben & Kate after New Girl (and they would have seen that it's just because Raising Hope, as brilliant as it may be, is not as good a lead-in as New Girl, period).
Not surprised given its appalling ratings.
ReplyDeleteMindy will be cancelled at the end of its run.
Raising Hope gets another season for syndication purposes and then will most likely end.
Nooooooo. Damn you Fox! !
ReplyDeleteI really don't want Mindy Project to be cancelled, but yes, unfortunately, I think it's only a one season show.
ReplyDeleteMindy Project is safer because Fox put a hell of a lot of effort into the show, they made a huge deal about getting Mindy Kaling and they wanted it to be a success. They won't give up on it yet because it would be embarrassing for them.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you though Ben and Kate has such great characters I don't need it to make me laugh for the entire 22 mins.
not to mention FOX cant afford to cancel both when they barely have replacement for one. They'll tough it out till the end of Mindy's /ordered and produced episodes and then cancel it. I dont think they can justify renewing it even to save face, its ratings just dont warrant it.
ReplyDeleteI agree shame, maybe if it was people would actually have watched it and it would have been one of the highest rated show on TV?!
ReplyDeleteExactly! It's such a shame the majority of people would rather watch crude fart and sex jokes than something that's actually genuinely funny with a great cast and a lot of heart. For shame, you Nielsen families!
ReplyDeleteAw.... I haven't been watching regularly but when I did catch an episode I very much liked it, so I am upset...
ReplyDeleteI think despite me having faith in Mindy, the best thing for Fox to do this in 2013-14:
ReplyDeleteTUESDAY:
08:00 - Raising Hope
08:30 - New Girl
09:00 - Glee
THURSDAY:
08:00 - The X Factor
09:00 - New Drama
I get the feeling FOX will aim to keep a two hour comedy block on Tuesday
ReplyDeletePeople are entitled to watch whatever they want to without being judged as stupid. I always find it hilarious that people feel the need to attack another shows quality and/or its fans intelligence just because their own show is well liked.
ReplyDeletePlease don't happen to The Mindy Project. Please, please, please, please don't happen to that show.
ReplyDeleteNO!!!! I am staging a fucking revolt. I can't cope with all the great comedies getting screwed. JUST NO!
ReplyDeleteoh, finally?? :D
ReplyDeleteThe ratings just dont justify a renewal. I think FOX need to have at least 1 back up next season for if and when a show fails. Also Raising Hope can not lead the night, its too poorly rated.
