Whew! This episode was a relief. After not caring much for the previous episodes, this one was a solid contender for me. In fact, it is my favorite episode of season 8 so far and a huge improvement over Bitten. As such there are ample quotes to pull from. So what were your two favorite quotes? 3. Dean: "It's kind of hard to explain right now. I'm sort of in the middle of cleaning out a vampire nest and it's sort of gone a little sideways on me." Sam: "What? You an idiot Dean? You know better than to go into a vamp nest alone." Dean: "I'm not alone damn it. Alright I'm not alone. I've got backup. The guy's been tracking the nest for awhile."

This is my favorite episode of the season so far. My favorite quote is the stroke one. Loved it from the moment I saw it in the sneak peek. I'm also finding Benny to be a great character. If he doesn't turn out to be evil, he will probably turn out to be one of my favorite characters that's still "living" on the show. Although in the history of the show's secondary characters, no one replaces Bobby in my heart. He's definitely number 3 after the brothers.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this episode. Although there are quite a few times where I couldn't understand a word Benny was saying.
I loved all te purgatory flashbacks but Sams flashbacks still seem a bit off. I hope they start progressing into some form of story soon coz right now they just seem off. Dean flashbacks to chopping heads off and Sam flashbacks to a dog and an air conditioner. I hope this moves forwards soon. Otherwise all good!

This episode was a really good mix of seriousness and humour.
I loved this quote b/c it reminded me of the 'old days' of season one when Sam and John would fight and Dean would be stuck in the middle. Thank goodness Adam didn't stay around or Dean would always have to play middle man =)

Ha! I love the "eye-rollingly bad dialogue" addition. My favorite quotes were the stroke one and the "sibling offspring" exchange in purgatory. Great stuff.
ReplyDeleteThere were a few clunkily bad, standout bits of dialogue in this one and int he interest of fairness, I had to give it its due too. Glad you liked it. I am less enthralled with Sam's flash backs right now too but that's mostly because they haven't given us a reason to believe Sam would love this harpy. Once they do I will be more invested in that part of the story. I did love that they made Sam a handyman though because it gave us another dimension of his smarts.

ReplyDeleteThe thing that made your second choice for me is how Benny deadpans his thoughts after Dean's big speech. Absolutely love the delivery of that line. Makes me laugh every time. By the way I feel the same way about the episode. It was a ray of sunshine and I desperately needed that.

The Toblerone line was funny, I don't know if Dean has mentioned chocolate before just pie. Vampirates was of course hilarious. The whole phone conversation with Dean and Sam was amusing especially the "My God, stop talking" part and unfortunately the 'all your friends are dead' (thanks Sam, I don't see any of your friends around either).
The last line from Benny was also awesome and we are all looking forward to that conversation!

I don't care much for her, but that dialogue was hillarious. I just had to laugh.
I suppose you could make a case for drifting serial killer... in a way. I just thought those few lines were great!
