ah i didnt get to see what happend in the end with finch's past in the music the last minute can someone tell me if its important? Anyways good episode i was happy for zoe again she just cant stay away and liked them playing husband and wife it was good good break from the city actually. I liked Bear's role in this he's a good dog
If I understood correctly, the machine sent Finch a text while he was getting ice cream. It mentioned Grace and Finch saw her painting nearby and decided to go up to her and introduce himself.
A simple episode, but still great. Reese and Zoey with a couple who knows, maybe in the future, in this episode we have a first taste. I noted and I think the machine knows how to predict the future, the scene she shows Grace profile is very interesting and intriguing. The case of the week is like would it have been an normal life for John and Jessica or a version of Finch and Grace lifes, the question is: if this could be happen in this past? The answer is no, like the case, the enemies of both return to hunt they.
I don't think it was so much the machine predicting the future as much as it was the machine trying to set Finch up with someone that the machine thought Finch was compatible with. For 3 years the machine pushed Finch towards Grace because the machine seems to revere Finch as its creator/father figure, and it wants to make Finch happy. And it had studied human behavior and personalities enough that it concluded (and rightly so) that Grace would be the perfect match for Finch.
So it was the machine playing matchmaker for the one person it truly "cares" about (as far as the machine actually can care) rather than predicting the future.
Solid ep and nice development that the machine made for one heck of a matchmaker for Finch... lol Got a kick that Roy from the Office was Graham and the actress playing his wife reminded me of Erin the current receptionist on the Office... Nice to see Reese playing homebody and Zoe with her killer legs... wow winner in my book
I really missed Fusco, but seeing lovely Zoe was Fantastic, I always love the flashbacks, knowing more about Harold's past is always very exciting, Carter's new car is Cool.
Interesting to see the machine set up Finch on a date, I love the relationship between Finch and the Machine. Oh and between Finch and Bear, he's definitely my favorite addition to the show. The lack of Fuscoe was weird, but still a very solid episode, and it never hurts having Zoe around.
In one episode, No Good Deed (I believe we see that Finch sometimes still follows her and possibly sets up ways to fund her art work (by buying large quantities of her magazine), but he was "made" because Reese had been following him (Reese meets Grace)...but basically they had this great relationship, get engaged, but Finch fakes his own death at some point @ 2009, because he fears what could happen to her, because of his involvement and creation of the machine....
Love that the machine led Finch to Grace and suggested that it wanted Finch to be happy and to be with someone. As Finch said, it's understanding human nature, not just figuring out who is all connected (which is kind of like Six Degrees), but also who can be set apart! <3
Nice little references to Alias! Chris Vaughn + Jewelry store heist = Michael Vaughn Jewelry store heist (but obviously for VERY different reasons)
It was also so nice to have Reese and Zoe play husband and wife while, basically implying they really are each other's equals/soul mates (and they brought Bear with them too!). The poker game was hysterical and I was glad they were able to help Graham before he was killed by his former partners in crime. I was glad he just was house arrested and not thrown in jail.
And my gosh, how much food does Finch eat in every episode??? I woke up this morning and I am still dying for a preferably not dog-slobbered doughnut and Chinese take-out!
Good point and after I write the post, I thought in this alternative too. In fact your observation explain the first scene of the episode when the machine shows the secret affair of Nathan, and the others scenes when she predict the possibilities of connections between different people.
I just love this show! It is the one new show from last year that I truly can't miss each week.
I still can't believe how much John and Finch have both changed since the first show of last season.
I enjoy these flash backs and how we are slowly learning about some of these characters like Nathan and who he really was.... a cheating husband. I loved how fast Finch gave us the details.
Zoe is always a favorite and I agree, Bear is the best fun thing on this show...next to Fusco!
Loved the Machine setting up Finch with Michael Emerson's real life wife Carrie Preston.
The Machine has serious matchmaking skills! XD
Nice to see Zoe again, but at the cost of no Fusco? Hmmm.... not a trade off I would make frequently I guess. Less Fusco and Carter did lead to a tighter more detailed single episode arc which is nice.
Interesting to see Alicia Witt. I had not seen her on anything in years. I will never forget her as Alia in Dune! She was one seriously creepy precocious kid! XD
Bear does distract from the intensity of the story sometimes, but I like little bits of him here and there. Him going for doughnuts and being reminded about boundaries was hilarious! XD
Overall this was a nice episode, some fun lines, some fun back story, and fun guest stars too!
I really enjoyed this episode. Finch and Grace's past was a nice window into Finch's backstory. It was great to see Reese and Zoe play husband and wife. It's a classic plotline used by many tv shows. But it works here because the actors have great chemistry imo. I'd love for Reese and Zoe to actually start getting more feelings for each other. With the kind of people that they are, I'm not sure they'd ever actually go on a real date. Perhaps these occasions when Zoe helps him out, are their version of dating? ;) Still, it'd be nice to see them actually do something date-like, even if just catching dinner together. I don't think they've even kissed yet. While Reese already got a kiss from that reporter.
idk...but i assumed after the poker game they were drinking so they must have slept together cause the next scene we saw was morning the next day, right?....☺.....

ReplyDeleteNo Fusco?? His jaw would have hit the floor when he saw Reese with Zoe. Again, absolutely fantastic episode, things just keep getting better
ReplyDeleteIf I understood correctly, the machine sent Finch a text while he was getting ice cream. It mentioned Grace and Finch saw her painting nearby and decided to go up to her and introduce himself.
ReplyDeleteThis episode was great! Lots of good stuff. Suburban fun for Bear, wine coolers for Zoe and Alia! "My Brother is Coming. With Many Fremen Warriors!"

That was my takeaway, at least.

ReplyDeleteAwesome, awesome indeed awesome...loved this episode

ReplyDeleteI really liked the episode. I'm so glad Bear is still around and that he charmed everyone in the episode. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis was a fairly quiet little episode and I love that this show and change things up so completely.
It took me FOREVER to remember who Grace was and I still don't remember any details.
Great episode and this is the second time we got to see aftermath stuff with the POI.
