I love this season. Trumps the past two by far and I really enjoyed this too. Forever cheesy but so fun and often moving.
I liked Nathan more than I usually do this episode. To me, he's often so bland and emotionless. Which, I mean, I sort of get since it's an extension of his can't-feel-physical-pain affliction. He's not my fave character. Let's put it that way. I even liked him despite that fact that he essentially cheated on Jordan and hooked up with an alternate kind of Audrey. It's weird, okay? :P Also, since reading the ep description a few weeks, I thought it was pretty clear that in the end, Nathan would be the Colorado Kid's father. I'll be surprised if that isn't the case.
Also, laughing at all the time loops and paradoxes. Time travel is so messy. If you overthink it, nothing makes sense. Just gotta suspend that disbelief. Fantastic ep in a engaging season.
Time travel stories are usually a disappointment for me but I liked this. - It was good to see the chief again. It's a bummer he's not around anymore.
- I wish Nathan would have mentioned to Audrey how much he was making out with Sarah (Audrey 1.0) because that would have been funny. - I feel a bit bad for Duke. He's still freaked out about a guy with a tattoo who is supposed to kill him and now he's pretty sure he can't escape his fate.
"I love this season. Trumps the past two by far and I really enjoyed those too. Forever cheesy but so fun and often moving." Haven got a lot better once they dropped the self-contained trouble of the week episodes and decided to focus solely on the main plots and subplots of the series.
Yeah. You could say that about almost any other mythology based show that started off as heavily procedural. I always like them more when they decide to make that stuff less pronounced.
Aundrey met Nathan on her first day at Haven and Duke later. Sarah met Nathan on her first day on Haven and Duke second. I wonder if Lucy met Nathan on her first day on Haven too. Do we have a pattern here?
Okay, I loved this episode. Time travel (though problematic) is always a hoot if it's done right. But the ramifications of this episode are probably still to come.
Is Nathan the father of James? You certainly could make a case for it; but it does seem odd, that with the parochial attitude of 1955, Sarah would sleep with a man she's only known a couple of hours. In any case, I think we'll have the answer to "Who is James' father?" before the end of the year.
Another question: What happened to Duke's book? He left it in 1955. Roy had put the 2010 version with the 1955 version. So how does that work? (Always a problem with time travel.) And who wrote that Roy was Killed by Sarah Vernon on the back of the obituary? The only witness was Duke and he and Nathan returned to the present. Certainly, Sarah wouldn't be bragging about it. A thinker???
Lastly, they (I.e., the writers) made a point about Duke breaking his own curse if he killed his grandfather. Technically, Duke didn't kill him, but the writers also made a point of showing that a dying Roy's blood got on Duke. So is Duke's ability/curse gone? Does he know it? And if it is, doesn't that also change history? That is, his father's curse also would have been gone, which certainly would have had a big affect on Haven? The people that Simon Crocker killed to stop curses would probably still be alive. Even Simon Crocker could still be alive. The ramifications could be huge. It would be better not to go there. So if Duke's "ability" is gone I'll be surprised.
Nathan is so the father of the Colorado Kid! If Audry is killed will James take her place? Is that why he is so important? Duke's Grandfather said this has been his family's curse for generations- how many past lives has Audrey had? Does Agt.Howard come and go- is he REALLY old like Audry? If he had a mustache in the fifties he would not look so good as he does unless he has also had multiple lives/ no aging. I did read in spoilers that the shape shifter would be back this season and kept waiting for an episode about him- but duh- it IS Tommy- and TOMMY was the body he dumped. I never understood why The Guard doesn't want to help Audry. I would assume they work together. And as for the newspaper bros- what is in it for them to keep these secrets? Are they blackmailed? Are they just used to the way things are? Why do they not just tell Audry what they know- what they have seen?!?!?!
..GORGEOUS ..EPISODE,.the costumes,.makeup,.cars...wooow..well presented and develop meet dukes family,.nate kissing sarah,.,so refreshing and cute very 50 style without any malice we follow there little time travel & enjoy there final result 1-10 scale 11 plus+++++
I'm sure Roy put the 2010 version back in Duke's jacket.... so Duke still has the 2010 version.
Good question about how anyone knew it was Sarah in order to write it on the clipping - unless Roy spoke to someone or left a message for someone that he was going to confront her.
Honestly, I'm not sure how to feel. I'm not really a fan of Jordan, but I didn't like how Nathan cheated on her and on top of that...it's weird he barely thought about Audrey before just randomly "bedding" Sarah. It would be one thing if he lost his memory and was drawn to her, but Nathan fell in love with Audrey, not Sarah. They might be the same body, but they all have different memories....and Audrey became Audrey after she got to Haven. I just...it feels wrong to me...and this is coming from someone who really likes Nathan/Audrey.
Missed that... could be that Duke has inadvertently left all the clues his father needs to follow in Roy's footsteps - after all Duke's father was killing troubled and presumably didn't learn from Roy since he was only a kid at the time he died.
he would have got the book anyhow, as it was passed through generations. So even if it was left in 1955 he would still have it when he went back to the present day. If that makes sense :)
I can see you point, however as stated in the previous episode, she may have someone else's memories but she always has the same inner personality i.e. she is feisty, smart, confident etc. but at the end of the day everyone is entitled to their own opinion. :)
Ahh Sarah, not only is your accent a mishmashed mess but girl you are a slut! You get to town and sleep with the first guy you meet? Wow. It didn't feel like a romantic connection to me, especially given how different she was from Audrey.
I liked Duke's story and him getting to see that his ancestors were conflicted as he was.
The rest of the episode was pretty "meh" for me, but that's to be expected after the great two-parter.
She might have the same inner personality but Nathan knew Audrey was in the future waiting. It just seemed really weird he couldn't help himself in the past. It wasn't like he was stuck there.
You could also argue that he hasn't stopped loving Audrey but she keeps pushing him away, so he buries those feelings and dates Jordan. He gets to the past and meets Sarah, who is essentially Audrey and her inner personality, who lets him in. Those feelings that he has for Audrey bubble to the surface to a point where he cannot help himself.
I really like Sarah. The episode was great, and the character was "incredible". I loved her spunk, confidence, and forthrightness. Sarah didn't seem to have Audrey's insecurities or cautiousness with people. I was surprised to find I liked Sarah's red hair, especially once I saw it at that beach date scene. I also thought Sarah and Nathan had great chemistry too.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I loved it! That was an amazing episode. I love that Sarah just kissed Nathan and didn't care about it.
ReplyDeleteLittle sad it wasn't proven tonight, but still convinced Nathan is James' father and they had sex on the beach we weren't shown.
I completely agree, love this show and what they are doing this season!

I loved it. i was thinking that the reason audrey trusted nathan so fast was because when she was sarah she fell for him.

ReplyDeleteThe book was with the jacket, but Duke left the jacket in 1955. Notice he only had his blue shirt on when he was transported back to the present.

ReplyDeleteloooved it . So far it is my favorit episode of season 3 .I just hope we get moor Naudrey before this season is over
