Nikita - Season 3 - Moving back to 8 PM

8 Nov 2012

With ratings on the significant year-to-year downside, The CW will move three-year-old action drama Nikita back into the Friday 8 p.m. hour effective on November 30. The current occupant, America’s Next Top Model, concludes its run on November 16 (and will return with new episodes next summer). A combination of holiday specials (Movie Prancer Returns on December 14 and encore special Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer on December 21) and repeats of freshman drama Arrow will fill the Friday 9 p.m. hour until January 18.

  1. So does this mean Cult will be placed on Fridays after Nikita?

  2. This is good! ANTM was an awful lead in for Nikita... I hope like this the ratings will get better!

  3. The CW have yet to release that information.

  4. This is a good thing. I think they are going to leave it alone on Fridays the whole year though, unless they put some new reality show there. Emily Owens can't possibly get a full season, so I expect Beauty and the beast to replace it come midseason (thought this one will also be dead at the end of the year), thus leaving the post-vampire diaries spot for Cult. Carrie Diaries will replace gossip girl

  5. If they wanted to really boost Nikita's ratings they should have made it a lead in for arrow.

  6. Hopefully it'll help with the ratings!

  7. That is good news for Nikita. Did much better in that time slot.

  8. I hope not. In my opinion, Nikita & Arrow makes the best block and Cult & Vampire Diaries too.

  10. Thanks for the info, nice one.

  11. Well we will get repeats of arrow on Friday's after Nikita until 18th Jan

    ReplyDelete
  12. yeah I know that but I mean, on Jan 18, will Cult take the place of the repeats?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Good idea. But it would also help the show if it was on a different day. But hey we take what we can get. Moving the time does mean that they don't want to cancel the show. Right?

  14. ATM! CW has set no dates for cult maybe it get's picked up after 18th Jan
or if CW's Beauty and the Beast gets canceled then Cult might have a chance to air early. It depends because Carrie Diaries is also waiting in the line.

  15. Lol! i just read the post above i didn't know it was already there :p

  16. unlikely to help Nikitas ratings but likely to please CW affiliates as Arrow repeats will likely to double what Nikita is doing now in the 9pm slot.

  17. you mean Arrow as a lead in for Nikita and not Nikita as a lead in for Arrow I assume?

  18. haha yes! I don't see why they pair it with super when it's already such a strong show. They need to give Nikita a fighting chance =(

  19. In all honesty, I think CW is just hoping for Nikita to accumulate enough episodes for syndication then call it a day on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yep, I think you're correct. I can see them renewing it for a shortened new season to give it enough episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  21. it'll need a full 4th season to reach syndication (21 or 22 episodes)

  22. Nikita was a pretty consistant 0.4 from the spring to the end of last season and it wasnt adding much with DVR. It simply didnt warrant a move from Friday. SPN on the other hand was the CW's second or third highest rated show and was adding significantly with DVR which did warrant a move from Friday. The CW didnt know Arrow was going to be a hit, they paired it with the strong SPN to give Arrow at least a fighting chance of success. It turns out it was a smart move for both shows. Wednesday is proving to be a really good night for CW and one they dont have to worry about for now at least.

  23. I hope that this will help Nikita out on the ratings front going forward as that 9pm slot was getting pretty competitve

  24. Good call! Even if it’s repeats, Arrow is another action show and makes much more sense as Nikita’s companion than ANTM. Nikita/ANTM is a completely senseless pairing, because the shows have nothing in common.
Also, going back to 8pm relieves Nikita of the competition with Fringe and Grimm, two genre shows that appeal to the same audience. It sure can’t hurt.
Honestly, I ain’t expecting miracles since Nikita was pulling 0.4′s even on 8pm in last season’s final reel, but every bit helps. This is such a fantastic show and I wish more people would watch. The cast and crew deserve more recognition for their top-notch work.
