So NCIS has an Assistant Director (Owen Granger) and a Deputy Director? Isn't that essentially the same job?
ReplyDeleteApparently not.
ReplyDeleteAssistant Directors are subordinate to the Director and Deputy Director. The Assistant Directors oversee the bureaus within NCIS including Administration, Atlantic, Pacific and Global Operations etc.
ReplyDeleteProblem is thou, Vance (current NCIS Director), was an Assistant Director before assuming the post after Director Shepherd's death. Not a Deputy Director. I always assumed after seeing Assistant Director Granger on NCIS:LA, that Granger would be the likely replacement if Vance retires or is killed off.
ReplyDeleteGenerally when the post of Deputy Director is vacant the senior assistant director fulfills the responsibilities of the Deputy Director. I always assumed that this was what occurred to promote Vance or alternatively that the Deputy Director declined promotion.
