This is actually a few weeks old, but as far as I'm aware this is the first time that we have confirmation from someone in the Merlin camp that Season 6 is undergoing definite negotiations behind the scenes. My guess is that they will go the movies route if the cast don't want to sign up for another year.

Seeing how underused the knights are to the story that is being told, I'm guessing they will be some of the toughest actors to get to resign :(
ReplyDeleteI would have loved episodes of Merlin going on quests with the knights. But with the knights knowing Merlin is a sorcerer and showing respect to him!
ReplyDeleteThere won't be any S6. People should get over it and let the amazing actors move on instead on stalling on some broken Camelot scenario.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've heard the main actors are tired of the show and want to move on, while most of the knights are frustrated with the story lines and screen time and want to go. All in all I don't see a season 6 unless they pare down the cast to the main 4 again.

ReplyDeleteI would love to see the movie actually. But if Merlin reveals his magic at the end of S5 (has to!!) it would be pretty cool to see entire season where everyone (or at least Arthur) knows. Change in the dynamic would be fun to watch!
Still, I'm waiting for sth official!
At the moment I find it hard to believe that there will be a season 6.
ReplyDeletea) it seems pretty clear that the BBC have not booked Pierrefonds Castle for filming again next year.
b) Bradley, Angel and AFAIK Colin as well have said that it is important to go out on a high - stressing that this is the 'best season ever'.
c) I get the impression that Bradley, for one, has had enough of living in chain mail for 8 months a year and I cannot blame him.
d) I would be surprised if Colin and Bradley were not inundated with offers of other projects and would like to take something new on. (I would love to see them in something else!)
e) There always has been the 5 year plan - and I think this has been emphasized in recent interviews
As much as I love the show and although I have all in all enjoyed season 5 so far, I think that 'dragging' the story out longer could result in a weak, thinned out version of what is a really good show now.
I really hope there is a season 6 this is the BEST Merlin ever! <3 Merlin he is so handsome!

ReplyDeleteGuys... Merlin has been wonderfull, a great tv show, with a great story telling of the Arthurian myth! It ended as it was supposed to end. To rpolongue this more, would most probably end in a loss of audience due to lack of originality (although there's still plenty to tell around the Arthurian myth).
ReplyDeleteI loved the show, and to see a great show come to an end leaves me sad, but it went out with a bang, that's for sure!
Let us rejoice on the 5 years of fun this show has given us, congratule the great cast and crew, and remember it, as well as we remember the Arthurian myth :). That is, what the Dragon meant, in my opinion :p.
It has to be onemore season.

ReplyDeleteCan't they make a last movie about how Arthur rises from dead, ''at the time that albion most needs him'' when he lives in 2013 and has to get used to cars and stuff. At the end of the last episode we've seen that Merlin has lived on till 2012 so that wouldn't be a problem, they would still be together, Merlin could try to explain how live has changed sinds Arthurs dead. And with reincarnations of the most importand knights and Gwenivere. Adventualy Arthur would do something that would save the UK. That would be a good last end right?
