Hello Ladies - Picked up to series at HBO (+ cast info)

HBO has ordered an eight-episode first season of Stephen Merchant's latest project, Hello Ladies, a comedy series which he has created with The Office US writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg.

Merchant will also star in that series as a clumsy Briton who comes to Los Angeles with high hopes on a sentimental level, only to find that beauty is kind of essential. Read more about it (or the same thing but said differently) here.

Christine Woods (FlashForward), Kevin Weisman (Alias) and Nate Torrence (Mr Sunshine) will co-star alongside Stephen Merchant, best known for creating and appearing in The Office (UK), Extras and Life's Too Short with Ricky Gervais.

True Detective, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, is another new HBO series coming in 2013, a year that will also mark the end of Tremé.

Other pilots in contention for a pickup at HBO include Cold War spy drama The Missionary (starring Aaron Paul), the post-Rapture fantasy series The Leftovers (from Damon Lindelof), the Ben Stiller-driven comedy All Talk (he would direct, executive produce and star in the series which may co-star Alan Alda) and a remake of the BBC Four medical comedy series Getting On.

  2. True Detective, The Missionary and The Leftover from Damon are all very interesting. Also the return of Gandolfini :)
