Army Wives - Season 7 - Claudia Joy getting killed off + more spoilers

First, the big news: Leading lady Kim Delaney, who has played Claudia Joy Holden since the Lifetime drama launched six years ago, will not be returning — like, ever. Exec producer Jeff Melvoin confirms to TVLine that her character (who is currently travelling overseas) will be killed off in the season premiere — a tragedy that will serve as a launching pad for an almost rebooted program.

“The first two [episodes] will be very emotional, and it will confirm that Claudia Joy is no longer among the living,” he says. “It’s been very wrenching for us to write, and I think it will be very wrenching for the audience to go through. “Kim and Claudia Joy have been the rock upon which we based the show,” the EP continues. “But we [have to] continue to move forward and keep the show fresh and unpredictable.”

    Not surprised, but whoa. Still sad. (I thought this was about Carol on The Walking Dead at first and was ready to get pissed.)

    WHY DO THIS! At this point they might as well say to hell with the show. I don't think I can keep watching if there gonna play it like this. I get that actors want to explore other things, but why must they always be killed off!

    I love Kim Delaney's acting. (She was awesome in 10.5)

    I agree. Once they decided to make Claudia Joy recurring & Pamela left, they should've ended the series on a positive note. They could easily make an Army Wives sequel with the remaining cast & new ones.

    As with the real military lifestyle, people come and go all the time. Even 6 seasons together is way longer than most military families stay in one place. I think new characters being introduced in one lump leaves little to be desired.
