  1. The case sounded interesting but this promo made it look kinda cheap and eye roll worthy.
I knew the episode would be Dean centric based on what Jensen and Jared said but I am looking forward to the couple of flahbacks we're supposed to have of Sam's year. We arent supposed to get much in this one but any little bit with Sam these days is a good thing. I believe there are Sam flashbacks in 5, 6, 7 and 8 too so hopefully we'll be getting into his story a bit more during those episodes.
I do think this episode will be important in terms of interest in Sam's storyline this season, Sam wants out after the case but something in the case obviously must make him decide to stay I would guess it has to do with Dean. I have a feeling he's not going to want to leave Dean because of Dean's behaviour becoming incresingly worrying and/or he'll need to save Dean and realises that Dean does actually need him?
Either way I just feel that Sam will stay because of Dean. Which is why Dean lying to him and the whole Benny thing is going to hurt all the more when he finally finds out.
Sam will choose Dean over Amelia and normal but it'll be hard and he may start regrettinghis choice depending on how things with Den progress, a bit like how Dean was drawn back to normal the more he couldnt get to grips with (soulless) Sam's behaviour in season 6.
I do think Dean will chose Benny over Sam at first but later down the line see the error of his ways and eventually chose Sam and so change Benny's role in the season. I expect a mid season change in direction with Sam/Dean and Benny/Dean simply because of everything they've told us about the brothers relationship thus far and because it would then be different from season 4.
I'm not sure how the Sam/Amelia storyline will play out outside of flashbacks. I can see Sam becomeing increasingly more drawn back to her and normal life as his relationship with Dean becomes more distant but if there is a change and Sam and Dean close the distance then I dont know how Amelia would fit into Sam's life.

I'm not sure why you think Sam is staying because of Dean?

I mean, I love the idea, believe me, and I want it to be true, but I think Sam is staying until they find Kevin and they're in the dead end for now. But, in the moment they close the gates of hell, he wants to be back to normal life. That's what I understood from interviews and spoilers, at last.

  3. Well, that's interesting and the glowing red eyes is a new one on me.

  4. No I don't want Sam just to stay because Dean needs him, there has to be more to it. Though from the looks of this Sam is going to swoop in and Dean.

If Sam stays simply because Dean can't be trusted to be safe by himself after all the 'I don't want to hunt anymore' it makes Sam a martyr and Dean pathetic. And it steers season 8 into being more about Dean the patient and Sam his carer rather than two brothers because right now there is more mystery surrounding what Sam did over the course of the year than what Dean did, even with not knowing what happened to Cas.

I didn't mean it like that. I would like Sam staying with Dean because he wants to stay with his brother.

  6. Just from the promo and the clips so far it is pushing that way Sam stays because Dean 'needs' him.

I hope they make Sam stay for another reason, even if they stick with him just wanting to finish finding Kevin because making it because Dean is going to get himself or other people killed if Sam isn't there on any level isn't really a brotherly relationship.

I agree, but the scenario you're worrying about didn't even cross my mind, to be honest. I think Sam is staying because he wants to finish the mission - Close the gates of Hell - not because of Dean needing him.

Anyway, my point was that I wanted Sam to stay because he wants to save people and, especially, because he wants to stay with Dean.

  8. I hope they make it that Sam stays because he feels it is the best way he can help people and wants to stay with Dean because of it rather than simply Dean needs caring for.

And maybe I should have replied to TV Monkey's comment because I don't see the present situation as similar to season 6. There is little mystery to Dean at present other than the Cas thing and Benny compared to season 6 for Sam to find out about or worry about. We can see that Dean is still essentially Dean and his edgy behaviour can be directly linked to where he was. Unlike when Sam lost his soul and we didn't know who pulled him out.

Dean won't be cured by a ball of light and a magic wall, there will be no deliberate attempt murder of a father figure (even if there was one around)

  9. Score for CHCH. This promo looks far more interesting with the action instead of the emoangsting/brother rift at the farmer's market of the CW one.

  10. Agreed. That's what i am getting from spoilers too. I don't think Sam would have gone back to Amelia during this case no matter how Dean is acting. It's not like they typically leave one another to pursue a case all on their own. I think Sam wants the closure of sealing hell's doors. Then he'll feel like he really can move on to something else, whether or not that something includes Amelia.
