Carl with a silencer, Rick being introverted, Carol flirting with Daryl, Michonne's samurai skills, the whole winter season passing by, and of course fucking zombie killing. Awesome episode indeed. Tell me if I forgot something that made this episode freaking awesome.
OMG...WOW...What a show !!!!...they had to kill more walkers to get in the prison then they had to kill in the comics......poor Andrea, didnt like seeing her so sick.....and Lori looks just bout to give birth already....they gave us just enough to cover whats going on with them and start the season, every week we'll see more characters and see the storyline develop into what the tv show is...☺...
Amazing start to the season! Loved the time jump and the progression of the characters.. (although I'm curious why Glenn and T-Dog don't have any facial hair, lol) I cannot wait to see what happens with Michonne/Lori and what happens with poor Herschel and when the group meets the inmates I remember a little bit from the graphic novels, and can't wait to see what happens here if it will hold true.. I didn't read up to the Governor part, so all that will be new to me.
yeah, talking bout hair...why doesnt Carol grow any hair, Ever, lol.....look at all the hair that Hershel had...im still reading the comics also trying to hurry up, i havent reached the Governor yet either....they're bringing him early in the tv show so it wont be like the comics....☺.....
If they go that direction of saying that the baby is cure of the zombie virus, or parasite or whatever, then I won't be a fan of it, simply because I don't like when they explain more about the why and how zombie came to be or curing aspects of it as well, that is why I hated the last episode of the first season, CDC one. Plus, if that happens, then I feel like the series will revolve around that premise and majority of the decisions will be based on how they have someone, who is immune to the zombie causing virus or parastie or whatever it is and that he's the number one priority.
I agree. I hope they don't go that route, and most probably they won't. I just figured I would throw it out there. More likely the baby will live, and that will create the drama of raising a kid in this strange new world, plus it would serve as a metaphor for hope in a hopeless world.
Awesome start, loved all the action, and seeing the group so desperate. And even just a few moments of Michonne were awesome, we need more! And I was hoping this episode was going to end with Merle showing up over Andrea/Michonne like the comic-con preview.
Great episode. I don't miss Dale one bit. I can live with Shane being gone if it means Rick finally has a pair of balls.
I laughed at the line Carol had in the beginning. "Shane never would have gotten us this far." You know what else Shane wouldn't have done, lady? Shane wouldn't have volunteered everybody to live right next to a raggedy old barn full of walkers.
Overall a very good action-filled episode.... I'm glad the sound FX for zombie head spearing or shooting have been tweaked a bit. IT does not sound repetitive like it did last year at times with repeated "squish" after "squish".
I love the concept as a prison as safety from the outside world juxtaposed against the concept in our world of a prison keeping the outside world safe from the people within.
The first scene with everyone being silent was so powerful to me. I prefer scenes like that to the zombie kill mayhem honestly. Some stories or episodes need those chaotic moments of mass slayings, but I think the show is best when it concentrates on the "living".....
IT was nice to see the team operating together in a cohesive manner. No Shane around to instigate.... no Dale around to annoy.... All the followers have a single leader to follow. At least for now. Have to see how that changes if they reunite with Michonne and Andrea.
A nice beginning to a new chapter for the series A lot of potential in the prison, Michonne and the yet to be seen Governor!
Action packed premiere! Well done. Carl is not a little kid anymore. Glenn and Maggie are cuter than ever. It's about time Rick got fed up with Lori. Poor Hershel. This is the only comic I actually did read, and it was a better way to introduce the living people in the prison. Looking forward to next week.
Do we ship carol and daryl? I like their relationship and I laughed hard when Daryl said " I'm going down first" and she replied" even better". They're sweet and I like them better than maggie and glenn. The last scen was breath taking, I haven't read the books so I had no idea...and damn Rick didn't hesitate to cut off his leg...He did the right thing but I still can't stand him. He took them that far but he's not a leader IMO>
Fast forward in time (6 months?), new opening credits, finding the prison.... all BEFORE the first commercial! I love how they are United now, a very cohesive group, using military formations, Carl & even Carol being integral parts to the group. Andrea being sick, Michonne being- well, BEING Michonne, Lori telling Hershel all her "pregnant worries," riot zombies, "The Others (lol -couldn't resist) and the Holy Shit" moment. WOW what an amazing season premiere: so fast paced, exciting, tense, and ohhh the zombie kills!
* I understand Lori's panic, all pregnant women freak out about things, have nightmares about what Could go wrong, but she Does have a little bit more to worry : zombie baby, how will it affect the group and their safety & will it have big ol biceps n psycho ? It is typical for women to have anxiety during pregnancy, but Lori is getting it ten fold- but then again, she has no one to blame but herself. I am (as you can guess) not Lori's biggest fan. * Rick is wonderful- he's stepped up and now Fully in charge (too many Chiefs and not enough tribe in past). They do as they are told & now they are a much better, safer group for it. Taking Hershel's leg - quick thinking saves lives. * Finally Carol! I know you had an abusive past life, but this is not the same world. Glad she is not the same whiney instigator that she was. "I never thought Rick would get us this far"- "Shane wouldn't have" it's about time.... And the subtle sexual banter between Carol n Daryl was lite and funny. * Hershel is (besides Daryl) Rick's biggest fan. He really does trust in Rick. Watch his facial expressions with - he trusts Rick without question. Hershel is an outsider- coming to the group late & watching from afar (farmhouse vs tents). R'member Hershel was of the mindset that the walkers "aren't dead, just sick." IMO Hershel see's Rick as the one person who can give them what they need: safety, and not at the expense of others (as he saw in Shane). * Michonne! I know we didn't see much of her (or the ailing Andrea), but we did see the bond that has grown between the two. Not willing to leave a sick Andrea behind, lying about the amount of walkers, and going out facing said walkers to find Andrea meds n supplies. * Last but by far the least: the "others" popping up like jack in the box wind up toys........ "Holy Shit" indeed!
It was such a LONG wait for the season to finally get here.... Now I fear the week long wait between episodes is going to Feel just as long! Till next Friday Walker Fans!
What a great opener. I wasn't expecting Herschel to get bit! Can't wait to see more about these inmates. My only gripe is, how did it take 6 months to reach the prison from where they were standing at the end of season 2? They could have walked that in 6 hours!
Responding a little late, but I guess I'm feeling more or less indifferent about the baby being the cure theory. Wouldn't hate it, wouldn't necessarily like it either. But either way I don't see how they could go that route. Wouldn't the baby have to die to know for sure it wasn't infected? I guess a choice must be made ;) . Too bad Shane isn't around anymore to stir up the idea for the "greater good". lol
Perhaps the baby is still born, and not a Walker. I guess then it would point to re-population to fully rid the world of the plague. But like I said it probably wont be that convoluted.
On a different note; Man I don't think you and I have conversed since back in the Dark UFO days. Where ya been dude?
This is my favorite show on tv right now and this prooved why. Such an amazing premiere. I was on the hedge of my sit the whole time. This show is not recommended for people with heart issues, seriously lol. That ending! Soooo good!
I was expecting/hoping they'd find some of the prisoners alive like in the comic book, I wasn't expecting that's how they'd find them. Poor Hershal.
In the show, it looks like they've gone into the prison at the opposite end that they went in the comic. Shows they're still willing to mix it up and keep the comic fans on their toes.
Just saw your reply; hope you see this. After LOST I took a backseat from lengthy tv show discussions, and not necessarily by choice. I was always much more active in the forums, but that place has been a ghost town since LOST ended. I do still lurk and enjoy seeing a few of the old, familiar 'faces' that are still around, but other than commenting on how I felt about a certain episode, no other show really gets me theorizing the way LOST did (but I'm not one of those that's still stuck on the show. I'm done. I just can't match that desire to be involved). When it comes to Fringe, you and a few others usually cover any questions or plot points that are on my mind, so I mainly just sit back and read. Anyways, I do miss the community and I think I'll be saying my piece a little more often. Glad to see you're still around. (and yes, I do know this response was wayyyy more lengthy than was warranted) ;)
@rtterry3225:disqus That's what the Forum is for :) I know it's not ideal but I simply don't have the time/manpower to maintain another section I'm afraid. There are already not enough hrs in the day to keep up with this part of the site :(
Oh I know just wishing and reminiscing. Unfortunately there isn't enough response/traffic on the forum or I would frequent it more often. Threads seem to fall off quickly or go unseen for days or weeks by potential commenters. Discussions end up being between only a small handful of commenters, so it lacks the punch the old theory section had at DarkUFO. I wish I had a way to help you manage it.
Awesome premiere! Just when I think I think TWD can't become more inventive/gruesome with the zombie killings, they bring something new. And the cutting the leg off was awesome. Poor Herschel.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Well, I loved the idea. Hated Shane, but I miss him, oddly enough.
ReplyDeleteAwww, Darryl and Carol. I love them so much and ship it really hard.
AND HOLY FUCK THE END. I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT. POOR HERSHEL.
I usually don't like premieres too much but this was awesome.
ReplyDeleteCarl with a silencer, Rick being introverted, Carol flirting with Daryl, Michonne's samurai skills, the whole winter season passing by, and of course fucking zombie killing. Awesome episode indeed. Tell me if I forgot something that made this episode freaking awesome.

ReplyDeleteJust the possibility of a Zombie baby.
ReplyDeleteOh yeahhhh, but has to be dead though.
ReplyDeleteThe spoilers by that Henry Spivey-guy was right then. Hershel got bit. Alive prisoners in the prison.

ReplyDeleteHad flashbacks to the Dawn of the Dead remake. I don't think the zombie baby made it into the theatrical release, tho. Just DC.
ReplyDeleteThe best premiere yet for TWD. Just awesomeeeeeeeee
ReplyDeleteThey could go with; "The baby is the key to the cure" plot too.
ReplyDeleteyeah, talking bout hair...why doesnt Carol grow any hair, Ever, lol.....look at all the hair that Hershel had...im still reading the comics also trying to hurry up, i havent reached the Governor yet either....they're bringing him early in the tv show so it wont be like the comics....☺.....

ReplyDeleteUntil that hope is taken away by the next tragedy, lol.
ReplyDeleteThe moment I heard that I thought "That's a great way to kill Lori off!"
ReplyDeleteZombie baby was definitely in the theatrical release, I remember seeing it in theaters and seeing it there.
ReplyDeleteAwesome start, loved all the action, and seeing the group so desperate. And even just a few moments of Michonne were awesome, we need more! And I was hoping this episode was going to end with Merle showing up over Andrea/Michonne like the comic-con preview.
