Fantastic! That;'s Pan's Labyrinth scared the ______ out of me!:D So intense and SO good. (just for the record I still Elliott killed Rita and not Arthur Mitchell)
The maze was pretty creepy, and good on Dex for getting rid of his slides, felt a little bad for him though. And the final scene was amazing, Deb looking on at the smoke with an air of wonder and mystery was a nice touch. Jennifer Carpenter has been knocking it out of the park this season.
Didn't the writers come out and flat out say that Arthur Mitchell killed Rita? I may have been more inclined to Elliott killing her back in Season 5, but I just don't see it now.
Poor Deb. But there is really no wonder she has these nightmares. Who wouldn't?
I kinda agree with Deb. Although it's not fair to blame Dex for Ritas death, it is true that Trinity got to her because he followed Dex.
She picked him up from a kill? That's huge. Obviously he didn't told her, but she's a cop. She could have guessed. When she asked him if he did it for her. That was sooo perfect. She was glad? Is she becoming another version of Lumen (I loved Julia in that part)?
I don't get why he destroyed his slides. His trophies. For Deb? Why? She already knows it. And it doesn't mean that he is giving up his killings. And if he did it for her, I would do it another way. Get with her on the boat and throwing the slides into the ocean, watching them disappear, like he did with the teeth (the Tooth fairy killer). Then they could drink some beer.
Oh, my f*****g god. Did he just said that he loves her? I mean, yeah, he probably meant it like brother/sister, but still … He never said it before. The "I love you too" in S6 was (according to Deb who told her therapist) the first time that he said it, but it was a response to her. This time it was coming from him.
I must say that I admire Taurus work. Nice playground.
"Everything is in my control" Seriously Dex? You can prepare you kills. But sometimes you have to adjust and improvise. React to a situation. No one is in complete control.
Elliott was the neighbor of Dexter and Rita's when they were living in the suburbs. Quinn talked to him, commented on how he seemed more broken up about Rita's death than Dexter.
Yeah, but she was killed like a Trinity victim. How would that idiot know how to do it and make it looks like Trinity? Even if the newspapers gave away some details (witch I doubt) the trinity cuts were too precise. If an amateur would do it, they would know. And that idiot would leave some evidence behind, wouldn’t he? Trinity was a professional (but so stupid leaving his DNA behind).
Besides: Where is the motive? He was into Rita, right? Then why not kill Dexter and hoping to seduce her while she is grieving?
Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone but Trinity killed Rita. I never bought into that theory, because as you said, she was killed like a Trinity victim. I was just commenting that I *may have* bought into that theory back in Season 5 when we were still wrapped up in her death.
..dexter need to evolve and destroy the slides he made his point..i am sorry for deb she is happy but also sad because her system fail by a technical term and dexter do it for her is like between a sword and a wall
I wasn't watching the show live when it happened. So the writers could have very well said it (But I never found where, if they did). I just agree with Deb that it didn't fit his M.O. The only Arthur strayed was when people really got in his way. Elliott was in Dexter's shed (where all of Frank's documents were), thanks to Cody. He acted so bizzar around the crime scene IMO. And of course Arthur didn't allude to it.
Just to argue it for arguments sake. 1. We don't know very much about Elliott. He could be anyone (a killer) 2. His motive would be "if I can't have her, no one can!" (jealousy) 3. He had access to Lundy's files which he could then "copy cat" to cover his tracks, 4. Elliott is " a loose end". Dexter sells the house and leaves.
5. Arthur only ever killed a women in the bath tab in front of another person one other time (and I am not sure if that was intentional?), his other daughter. So the instance with Harrison being right there is also rare and outside the purview of A. M. He could have killed her another way.- Especially since that even the other Kyle Butler, he only attacked him because Butler refused to stand down. Mitchell was going to walk away.
IMO Dexter is still acting like "Nebraska" Dexter. He's doing everything wrong/different. And there has been very little Harry guiding the way.,,,Of course Deb IMO is not acting like herself either. (not saying she should, but there are some rather dramatic differences) It's making the season really interesting though. I too really liked the "I'm glad" part. -But I really am going to worry for her until we get away from Isaac, Hannah, and LaGuerta, which means I am probably going to be freaking out until we actually get to season 8 :D
Ya. It seems like it's really hard for her. And it was really interesting to see Dexter get rid of his trophies. -I am still torn if this is for better or worse for them or not. If Dexter can survive this and/or protect Deb with out following Harry's code and/or his ritual?
Was I the only one who nearly boom boomed their pants when Dexter said *bad word, bad word, bad word* at Ray in the Crematorium. He went *bad word* crazy and that was oddly terrifying and giggleworthy... A very cool episode though, thourougly confusing on the is he good or bad and is she good or bad for thinking he is either good or bad.?.? Bah you see!
Ya!!!. He has been VERY cocky lately. When ever he has an emotional break down, he becomes unhinged and argumentive. His voice sometimes gets shrilly, condescending, and self righteous IMO he's been especially more so,since his little trip last season. It's like Harry is barely there. He's loosing his voice of reason.
This episode also referenced a season 2 title "Left Turn Ahead". Doakes really tried to challenge Dexter's reasoning at the end of season, which also kind shows Dexter having similar behavior as he does here, as even just the act of locking his victims up is not his traditional M.O. In this episode, it's like Dexter's the one locked in cage...
Here's a link to 3 questions that were asked of the executive producer, Clyde Phillips where he flat out answers yes Trinity killed Rita. And Arhur did allude to killing Rita, or doing something to Dexter that Dexter didn't know about yet, in their final conversation.
And when was it ever declared that Deb never takes baths? I just rewatched the series this summer and I never heard anything about that.
Good stuff. Not a lot of filler in this episode. - Very smart of Dex to get rid of his slides. That decision could prove important somewhere down the line. - Considering everything she's been through lately, Deb is holding up well. In spite of the dreams, she's doin' all right. - Quinn is still being Quinn and that never ends well for him. - I didn't anticipate that Victor would be related to Issak. - Finishing off this week's bad guy was a tough ordeal and Dexter will need the practice if he's going to be fending off the mob. - The scene between Deb and Dexter in the car at the end was quite good.
Thanks! And so they have said it (:. (It still sits with me wrong) Considering I think this is all a dream anyways, why the heck do I care about consistency :p
The "Harry guidance" was part of Dexters old code. Harrys code.
Deb knows and doesn't approve. So, if he doesn't want to lose her, he has to adjust. Create a new code. That is why he doesn't need Harry.
And yes, he is kinda unpredictable in some moments. Mostly after arguing with Deb. Stress-release thru a kill. That was always Dexters way.
Well, I think Deb also had to adjust. Accept that her brother she known, loved and trusted her entire life is a serial killer and not the person she believed him to be. It's nothing you handle between lunch and dinner.
Hell yes, this is turning out to be the best season ever!
Hanna, as it seems, is a killer. Nothing Dexter couldn't handle. True, she is smart and beautiful, but Dexter isn't the type to fall for it. Isaac is a problem. He is ruthless, powerful and has an army. LaGuerta is also a problem. But without evidence there is nothing she can do. She can suspect, but she can't prove anything. Especially, after Dexter got rid of his trophies.
Let's say, Elliott has the potential to be a killer and he got to specific information about the Trinity victims.
Why kill her like that? If his motive would be "If I can't have her, no one should" then it would be logical to make it look like Dexter killed her, so they would investigate him, maybe even send him to prison. Double torture/punishment. The loss of his wife and the loss of his freedom. Wouldn't it be more logical?
We don't know if Baby Harry was in the bathroom when she was killed. He was what, 10 months old? He probably couldn't walk, but he could crawl.
They questioned Dex and the neighbors (including Elliott). No matter that it looked like Trinity, they were investigating before confirming Rita as a Trinity victim.
If someone is killed, the first suspects are always the partner (husband/wife), lovers (if the victim or the partner had an affair; they knew that Elliott was into Rita) and the person who found the victim.
remember the talk Dex had with Deb outside by their cars?...Dex said his only mistake was not killiing the trinity killer once he had him...he said he would never make that mistake again...... Wrong, cause last season he did the same mistake again when he didnt kill the killer once he had him, he waited to get him to the church where Deb found him out...☺...
Yes and every time Dexter "strays" from the code (when he goes against Harry), bad things happen, like Rita being murdered, Cody and Aster neatly being burned to death, Dexter almost turning himself in, ect.
I think Dexter is totally the type to fall for Hanna (she reminds him of everything he has lost), especially if something happens in which Deb pushes him away--or if LaGuerta starts following them and they can't afford to be together. He was also pretty heart broken when Lumen left, and last season he 'left Harry behind', because he was SO upset about the death of brother Sam, as this shattered his new found faith and Brian emerging in Harry's place suggests a deep desperation to have a partner in crime, even though when he finally found out the truth, he couldn't completely betray Harry and kill Jonah. -But it doesn't mean it can't happen again and if he will come back to his voice of reason before something else bad happens...
And Dexter was considered a suspect until Deb and LaGuerta intervened. Quinn was starting to get on his case that season, because Elliot tried to peg Dex a villian. But Quinn's behavior was SO reckless and Quinn SO desparate to be with Deb that he was suspended by LaGuerta and then Deb started becoming more interested and that it when Quinn tried to stop Liddy from his purists
It's true that Harrison "could" have been removed and then moved back from the crime scene, but considering Arthur was alone, Rita would have had an opportunity to escape or call the police. Most likely Harrison was with her while she was murdered. I doubt he was in another room and just put in her pool of blood just because. Arthur would have had to waste more time getting his prints of Harrison, as some people online's arguments (outside that the writers said so) that this happened this way is also because Arthur was in a hurry.
Dexter and Hanna? I think he learned his lesson from Lila.
Loosing Lumen was probably one of the worst experiences he had. She accepted him. She saw his true self, saw him, for what he really is and she accepted him. She loved him and she didn't mind. Until it was over and she left. Of course he was broken.
Brother Sam gave him hope. Hope, that he could change.
As I said: I wouldn’t worry about Hanna. For now, a least, it looks like she IS a killer but she doesn't seem a threat.
The husband/wife is always first to be suspected. Along with the person who found the body.
Escape? Hardly. He was probably waiting for her.
But it stays an open question, how Harrison got in the bathroom. If Rita came home and Arthur was waiting for her it would be normal that the baby was in his seat. How did he got out? If she was home and let the baby out and Arthur came after her, how did he got her in the tub? Did they mention something in the report? Drugs, injuries? Couse if Rita came first, he must have overpowered her.
what I mean by escape, is that IF Harrison would have been in the bathroom to begin with, suggesting Arthur got there AFTER Rita came home, if He would have had to move Harrison from the bathroom, to comply with some moral, then Rita would have had an importunity to change the situation. -And then he wouldn't have been able to kill her so cleanly. So I agree that he had the element of surprise, but either like you said Harrison was in another room to begin with or he was in the bathroom the whole time. -But I am just not sure he would care enough to get get Harrison and put him in the bathroom.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
