BBC ONE

In the inky depths of an ancient pool, three soothsayers cast a dark judgment upon the King of Camelot.

But despite Merlin’s warnings, headstrong Arthur refuses to take the words of the Disir (Frances Tomelty, Sian Thomas, Helen Schlesinger) seriously and their fury rains down on Camelot. Only the greatest sacrifice can appease them, and with the kingdom in jeopardy, is it one that Arthur is prepared to make?

Faced with the King’s uncertainty, Merlin has just one chance to save him from his destiny, but this decision comes at the highest price.

Colin Morgan is Merlin, Bradley James is Arthur, Angel Coulby is Gwen, Katie McGrath is Morgana, Richard Wilson is Gaius and John Hurt is the voice of the Great Dragon. Tom Hopper, Rupert Young, Eoin Macken and Adetomiwa Edun return as The Knights of the Round Table. Special guest stars include Frances Tomelty, Sian Thomas, Helen Schlesinger as the Disir and Andrew Tiernan as Osgar.

  2. Merlin is certainly the only one with a brain in this show, like someone told in a review. What does Merlin need to do to make Arthur listen to him?

  3. Sounds like a typical Merlin storyline :) - nevertheless really exciting. I am wondering what the greatest sacrifice will be.

  4. Maybe he will reveal his magic :) I am crossing my fingers

  5. The Disir, huh? Norns would have been better. Nevertheless, it's a nice reference to Norse mythology.

  6. Yes, and my toes, arms, legs ,....:))) TBH it would be too good to be true!

  7. Does Arthur remember that Mordred has magic? Or has he supposedly sworn off it now he's a knight? I'm expecting Merlin to be just about to tell/perform some magic in front of Arthur, and then Mordred steals his thunder, so to speak.

  8. Well, I think Arthur should remember that Mordred is a druid (who usually have some magic) He did return Mordred to his fold when he saved him from Uther. I think you are making a good point there with Mordred 'taking credit' for any magic performed by Merlin in front of Arthur, thus 'protecting' Merlin from revealing who he is.
What Mordred is really up to - who knows - it could be anything - from realy good to really evil. We know what the legends say about him - but we know that TPTB like meddling with preconceived ides of the legends!

  9. I'm so torn on Mordred's aim, I still think he could be part of Arthur's bane in some way. We know it's Arthur, but is it him because he refuses Merlin's advice in some important decision which Mordred or Morgana have caused for example? Or has Mordred really forgiven and forgotten the past and is now working to show Camelot that magic can be a good thing too? So many possibilities, can't wait to see where his story is going :)

  10. I somehow do not think that Mordred has forgiven Merlin ( I will not forget, I will never forgive).
Just remembered episode 2 - Merlin said to Mordred: If Arthur knew you had magic things would be different - so maybe Arthur has 'forgotten'!!
