Am loving how non-existent the Arthur/Gwen is this season! I was worried it was going to be shoved down our throats like it was in previous seasons. I just want a bloody reveal already!!! Come on Arthur! Ten years of almost concussions and you STILL don't know about Merlin?!
ReplyDeleteI'd say that this one involves more of the cast than the last one. For me, seeing how Merlin influences others is one of the best ways of seeing how important his character is, all he does 'behind the scenes' as it were to get the right result is part of what makes him such a great character. He doesn't need to boast about his achievements as much as he did in previous years, and although it can take a whole episode before people listen to his warnings, they are certainly starting to notice the part he plays, esp in this one.
ReplyDeleteThey have some touching moments, but nothing huge and full on. I like how they have become a very committed couple, that is definitely shown a few times in this episode in the scenes they share.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to wonder if the big reveal will be at the end of this season. This could be why there is so much uncertainty with if there will be a S6, or some films, or nothing, or some other possibility at this stage. I would hope that enough budget can be found for a huge season next year, where everyone knows about Merlin and we start to see some of the epic quests from the legends.

ReplyDeleteI think that fact that they are married now, and have been for 3 years, means that a lot of the will they/won't they stuff from previous years just isn't possible to do any more. I love the fact that they are so completely solid as a couple, this episode cements that idea even more, but in subtle ways with just a look or a holding of hands :)
Hmm, a coupe I think iirc, thou they share some other scenes with others too. They are certainly seen together more than they have so far this season.

ReplyDeleteoh yes I agree with you about the scenes they can have and the ones they cannot... I wanted to see them share a room for example, or getting out of bed together, or dining together, you know those sort of things which we've seen Arthur do so many times alone in the past seasons :) but I guess a holding of hands will do just fine for now :) always hoping for more :)
Sorry, just one more question: does Gwen and Mithian get to interact?
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I'm pretty sure the only reason Merlin's still a servant instead of an official advisor (counselor) or sth is the fact that Arthur relies on him more than he says and just can't really be separated from him for too long;)

ReplyDeleteuthers death song was too good...i laughed my ass off during half of it. And the ending when Uther is sent back...lol...we were so close to a reveal...i couldnt help but laugh out loud... Really good Arthur/Merlin scenes...the SLAP!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm starting to think they'll wait to the very final episode of the serie to reveal it and they'll leave us with a ''and now that's where the legend begin......'' forever. I sure hope not.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's not left to the end of the season as from all accounts, this is the last. I know there are "talks" of a series 6, but from the interviews I've read it sounds like both Bradley and Colin are ready to leave Merlin behind. I think there would have to be a lot of things done differently for both of them to be enticed back again since they were only contracted for 5 seasons.

ReplyDeleteWell I sure hope Merlin will have to do more on screen to fulfil his own destiny. He's always there for Arthur, but now I'd love to see more of Merlin working for his own story.

I'm still in the camp of the poeple who think that Merlin should be more about Merlin and that it should show more Merlin doing all the stuffs a powerful sorcerer does. And finally, is Merlin still treated as the real hero of the show, since this show should be about him. Thank you for everything.

Colin and Bradley never said that they want to do other shows, but I got the impression they want to do ohter things and I understand. Colin especially who is meant to do movies and more important projects.
