When we last saw Operative Annie Walker, she had gone rogue without the help of the CIA on a mission to Russia in search of the elusive double agent Lena Smith. Walker finally finds and kills Lena in the explosive last episode but typical of Covert Affairs; the death of Lena introduced as many plot lines as it concluded.
Viewers were left wondering the state of Joan’s career for providing help in an unsanctioned mission, the rocky status of Joan and Arthur’s relationship, whether Annie would be able to escape Russia without the help of CIA, did Auggie just say to Annie what fans had been hoping for since the premiere episode (hint, hint L word), and most of all what toll would these harrowing events would take on Annie? On October 16, Covert Affairs returns in fast-paced episode titled Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide. As someone who just previewed the episode, I can tell you it brings the drama and then some. The episode picks up in Russia, after our favorite operative gets captured and needs the help of both the CIA and the steamy Mossad agent Eyal Lavine to bring her back home. The only hitch, the CIA cannot have any formal knowledge of this dangerous mission. Brilliantly played by Piper Perabo, Rock ‘n’ Roll suicide also brings a new Annie to the table. Annie has seen the darkest side of the spy business and finally learned the hard way to withhold trust even to people on the same side. The changes in her character are especially evident in an extremely tense scene between Eyal and Annie in Russia which results in some of the best acting of the episode and maybe the season. Notable Episode Quotes:"Well so is a friend of mine, Annie Walker, have you ever heard of her?"
"A normal person doesn't do this kind of thing."Rock 'n' Roll Suicide asks the question who do you have to become to do this job. While we may not get all the answers to all our burning questions, this episode will certainly wet your appetite for the rest of the season that is already off to an amazing start.

Thanks for the preview Denise and congrats on your first post :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the team.
Hello Denise! I am officially jealous that you got to see the episode ha. I will have to wait till next week lol. Thank you for the preview.
ReplyDeleteYou have definitely "wet my appetite" to watch this episode. Excellent review!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely can't wait for the episode!
ReplyDeleteWhat the Covert Affairs Writers have done this season in spectacular. They have developed and deepened both story line and characters, and the actors have responded with great acting. The edge-of-your-seat drama is intense. Re: "the new Annie" - I wonder how her altered trust level will affect her relationship with my other favorite on the show, Auggie. I am looking forward to this show's return next Tuesday, 10/16.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for Tuesday now that i read this! I think Annie has already changed but i don't think its for the better. She doesn't listen to her superiors, she disregards her orders and she was ordered by Joan and Arthur not to do certain things this season and what did she do.....did em anyway.By all rights Annie should have been fired or at least reassigned to another division.Well,i guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great episode, but you will see it shortly:)
ReplyDelete..she became almost a rouge-agent.somebody had to ground her..she thinks..( IT IS THE LAST COKE IN THE DESSERT BUT EVERYONE IS CHANGING TO PEPSI.)
