Community and Whitney - Premieres delayed

9 Oct 2012

NBC has decided to delay (and possibly reverse) its decision to move Community and Whitney to Fridays. Both shows had been set to move to the night on Oct. 19. But the network now confirms that won't happen. Officially, NBC isn't discussing the reason behind the move or announcing when either show will finally return.

  2. Ugh, Community was going to be a birthday present for me! Rude. But this possibly sounds like a good thing if it'll replace a show that's going to get cancelled.

  3. I'm confident that it's a blessing in disguise. If that delay means seeing Community back on Thursdays this November, I'll take it.

Like the article says, NBC might choose to replace Animal Practice with Whitney, thus pairing it with Guys with Kids, another multicrapmera sitcom (which does slightly better than Animal Practice despite airing right after the latter, at 8:30pm on Wednesdays).
And then, there's Up All Night on Thursdays at 8:30pm, which isn't a complete flop (it doesn't do much worse than 30 Rock right before). But that show, which has a 13-episode second season order, just doesn't fit with the rest of the comedy block (Community is the missing piece). Now, I don't think they'll cancel Up All Night now (NBC wouldn't dare getting rid of two Lorne Michaels-produced sitcoms within a few months (30 Rock is the other one)) but maybe they'll put it on hiatus for it to come back next Spring paired with one of their new sitcoms still in the drawer (1600 Penn, Next Caller or Save Me, for instance).

I don't think they'll do that, but NBC could switch 30 Rock and Community, so that the show returns to the timeslot it always had since October 2009 : Thursdays 8pm, it'd be nice.

  5. My initial response was my hand cramping and trying to hide my anger, and just when I think NBC couldn't possibly make any more bad decisions they do crap that astounds me.

I hope, I truly hope, other people are right with their thought on this possibly being a good thing if it gets moved to a better time slot and replaces a cancelled show.

But until then, I will sit and sulk and continue to hate NBC.

  7. My first thought is NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! My second thought involves some crying while huddling in a corner. Cause Community is awesome and my life is better when it is around.

  13. Community and Whitney shouldn't be in the same sentence, much less in the same day!! I can't understand NBC's behavior with community... Why are u trying to sink one of your best boats? It was NEVER treated well, it never had a good time slot.

  14. Not a good sign for NBC, Their fault. Rest of their shows isn´t doing well and I promise Revolution will keep dropping. Wrong choice, NBC.

  15. WTF? (Just care about Community, Whitney should be cancelled).
