I was about to say it was freaking horrible BUT! I just saw the preview for next week and we go back to the plan crash if I understand correctly SO NOW EVERYTHING IS OKAY
Though bad idea cause I was just pissed and not enjoying the episode at all for 45min (then I was too busy crying to care)
LOL about the Stark. I think I'm gonna cry myself to sleep because of...Arizona. Poor Arizona. I saw Mark's death coming from miles and miles even without the articles of Eric Dane leaving, so I was prepared...But Jessica Capshaw totally killed that scene!
I turned it on six minutes late and it took me a while to adjust. Also wasn't a fan of the scene between Yang and Mr. Happy. I have to think she'd have talked with him during the interview process and his reaction wouldn't have been a surprise.
Was it just me or did Owen drop some weight? Being from rural Indiana I always enjoy seeing people's depiction of a farm. Especially Green Acres where the Douglases had a front yard that was 10 feet wide. But then again their phone was at the top of a pole.
Nothing about this show was like the old days. Happy Bailey no Christina Meredith togetherness, dead Mark, one leg Arizona....I mean Alex was the in control one! This episode was a turning point for this series and I don't think it will ever recover...it's a sinking ship that just hit the iceberg people...find a life boat now!
WOW... i loved it. i'm liking this new Meredith but i'm not sure i'm going to enjoy all the love scenes from this "romantic" season as we've been hinted before. Cristina is obviously coming back.. she has to! and whoa at the end! im hoping callie will figure something out to build Arizona a new leg! or at least getting her on a transplant list ( is that even possible in real life? )
MISSED LEXIE LIKE HELL..... didn't quite miss Teddy though... so i'm just gonna have to get used to watch my screen without Lexie and Mark, but at least they died and confess their love for each other, which is a nice gesture from the writes behalf i guess...
they same thing happend to me, although i already episode 2 was going to take place back in the woods... still pissed me off that i was asking myself the ENTIRE episode, WTH had happened to Arizona that was so badly!
I gave it a great. Though as one other poster stated it was a little all over the place... it kind of felt like they rushed everything in there to set for the big flashback episode... most of the episode was for shock value that will go away after seeing next week's episode...
I liked Mark's death - not his death death but just how they did it. I wish someone did a monologue about him, I think that would have been more grey than them crying by his bedside. The chief though gave a monologue before he turned off the machines but that just had no emotion in it - He was just repeating what we already knew!
At first I thought Shephard completely lost his hand but then I saw it was in a cast and I was like "totally lame, he's so going to get the feeling back." and THEN I saw Arizona's leg have been cut off and that made it even... but Even doesn't change anything so I'm still pissed that they didn't take his hand off! I don't know why but I got a little turned on seeing Arizona like that on the bed - I hope I'm not one of THOSE guys!
The highlight of the episode for me (as I watching it) would be Karev telling off Meredith that he's not gonna stick around because she doesn't want to be alone. Way to stick up for yourself against the crybaby! Then there was that bar scene...
So the whole episode for me has been an up and down rollercoaster and although there were things I really didn't like, it definitely showed that Anatomy still has some interesting stories left to tell.
I won't comment on all the heart-wrenching sad stuff, though I think I was teary-eyed for a good half of the episode. I figured I'd just mention two of my bright spots - Gaius Charles and Tina Majorino. I love having Smash Williams on my TV again, and Tina Majorino is always fantastic. I also enjoyed the tribute to Mark that they had going throughout the episode. Very sad, but very cool.
I'm glad Alex didn't leave, though he did have a great opportunity at Hopkins. I've been crossing my fingers all summer that he'd stay in Seattle and take over the Peds job. All in all, the episode was a lot better than I was expecting, but I still don't know that I'll stick with it week to week. I definitely won't be watching it live, but it might be something to catch up on later in the week.
Just when I think I'm getting over this show and not sure I wanna continue watching they give me this episode! I laughed and cried, cried and cried some more. I was really kinda confused in the beginning with it skipping the rest of the crash and the rescue, but after I got over that I got really into it.
I'm really loved the little comedy bits they added in between all the tears. The flashbacks broke my heart, but they also made me smile because they let us see Mark as he was and not just as a dying man in a coma. I also really liked the nicknames! They cracked me up.
Also I loved seeing Mr. Feeny!!! and Mac from Veronica Mars.
My heart is broken... Mark was my favorite Character with Addison and Arizona... I thought she was dead too but thanks Shonda! One leg? Hum... Sh'es the reason why i watch GA now. Its so so so sad TT
I did not like this episode! What was the point of the time jump exactly? To make us wonder what happened after the crash??Well,we've been wondering about that all summer!I wanted answers(I know what happened to Arizona and Mark, but I still don't know what happened to Arizona and Mark)!Iwanted to SEE wth happened out there not HEAR about it!And rehiring April for the 3rd time??Really??It made sense when Richard did it but it doesn't make much sense now.Didn't she fail her exams anyway?Isn't she supposed to be studying to take them next year instead of milking cows??Why rehire her now??Okay, end of rant!RIP Mark...you were the best!Lexie is waiting for you... :'(
I agree with you, but on the other hand I was happy, because they have to find a way for Cristina to go back to Seatle. And if her job at Mayo sucks.... :)
Was I the only one that felt a little annoyed by Arizona not being there to say goodbye to Mark? I mean, I can't even imagine what she's going through it must be a torture. But she wil never have a chance to say goodbye to him again. I thought they had developed a really nice relationship, they became a family, he is her daughter's father. It just seems a little cold and a not Arizona-like to not be there even if she is still mad at Callie.
Omg this episode sucked for me I was crying from start to beginning shonda is really crazy why did she destroyed to my lovely charachters mark and arizona why I feel so depressed of arizonas situation
i thought it was great but the thing is that the show isn't the same anymore.with mark and lexie dead it is just different and not in a good way.and even though the storylines are good they are just too gloomy.and i think bringing april back was a really bad thought.so happy that alex is staying though.and omg bailey's nickname is hilarious!
I was more annoyed by Meredith's absence than Arizona's.I know she's lost her sister but Derek lost his best friend. She says that Derek is the love of her life but she wasn't there for him when Mark died and when Derek walked out of the surgery-Calie was, whose life is not perfect either!Mer's "Christina is my person" and her drinking alone at bars are getting boring.
You're probably right on that. The new group of interns look familiar so maybe they looked for more experienced cast mates to fill the void left by various deaths/defections.
And Yang HAS to come back as she's the only one who can get Meredith through this.
The episode was sad, but brilliant. I knew Mark was going to die but it was still sad to see him die :( I feel sorry for Callie she lost her best friend and a depressed wife who's leg is amputated. I liked that they put a little humour into the episode - Bailey's nickname from Nazi to BCB
I totally agree. Would it hurt her if she just stayed that night and tried to go to Christina the other day? I love Meredith and Cristina's friendship, but Pompeo was right when she pointed out that Cristina being Meredith's person was unhealthy for her relationship with Derek. This instance proves that.
After 9 years, they are still one of the best shows around. The episode was amazing. It was heartbreaking, but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Meredith was amazing throghout the whole hour, as was Callie, I loved the strenghts they were showcasing. My favorite moment has to go for the amazing Meredith-Alex at the end, both of their scenes at the airport. Also, Ellen Pompeo, Sara Ramirez and Patrick Dempsey were extraordinary during this episode, they all brought their A game. There is one thing I hated though, which was the Bailey things... Competely out of place, out of character, especially when she was outside waiting for Mark to die. It was just ridiculous. I was also bored with the Christina bits. Wish they had found a better way to make her come back. Make her unfit with the hospital is just a lame, easy cop-out. Alex's was way better. Owen was also very good tonight. Well dona Shonda. No, I cannot wait for next week's.
Now this show is like trying to kill of or hurt in thw worst possible way as many people as possible. It is just out of control. It is just wrong. That is the most cursed hospital and people in the world. I AM DONE WITH THIS SHOW FOR GOOD.
By the time I reached minute 0:07 (yes that early on!) I was in desperate need for tissues which lasted until the final moments of this episode!
Didn't expect Arizona to be alive... glad that she made it though! Going to make a great story, the tension between her and Callie.
Luckily the moment when Bailey heard about her nickname and her face was priceless! Didn't like Owen visiting April... thought her not passing her boards meant that she was moving to the farm, never to be seen again, apparently not.... Doesn't take a genius to figure out that Cristina will be back within 2 or 3 episodes, who wouldn't go crazy with those people around you 24/7..?
Wow, that was sooo sad :( I'm gonna miss mark so much, and they made it look like a real person died! Can't believe i'm so upset over this! The Arizona story is pissin' me off! Commin' your baby's father died, and your sobbing in bed.. I curious to see how that story is gonnan develop. Also i really hope that meredith is gonna realize that she has to put derek on number 1. It was so sad to see him with zola, all alone. It's makes me mad, that after nine seasons there is still no progress in that.
Did anyone consider why Callie was all so giddy to help Derek recover with his hand? Because she subconsciously blames herself for not being able to save Arizona's leg, so that's the last good deed she can do to at least atone herself a bit amongst her friends and loved ones. So sad...
Some good bits (Mer and Alex at the airport/bar) but lots of things I didn't really like (baileys complete character change, avery, the dumb excuse for bringing April back...)
Not to mention this hand thing is exactly the same as we had with Burke... I hope they find a way to keep it original because right now it's feeling pretty repetitive.
Glad to have greys back but overall I'm slightly disappointed. Feel a little better knowing well see the plane crash next ep.
Also, there was an error, WTH 2009 -- was it supposed to be Callizona's wedding? 'Cause as far as I'm concerned they got married in 2010 or early 2011. GOT YA!
The thing you're not seeing is...that she was still stressed, she tried to stay, she really was NOT in the hurry to go see Cristina, she run because of the trauma, the plug being pulled on Mark only reminded her of all the horrible moments in the woods, as she articulated it, saying how hard they fought to save him....but it didn't work, it obviously was too much for her to handle, also reminding her of Lexie dying probably.
I get what you are saying. If it wasn't for the whole plane thing, I would have accepted it as her wanting to get away. The way it happened shows that she wanted to be with Christina during this awful situation and not with Derek, who needed her the most. The main issue here is that she was willing to go through the worst kind of torture(getting again in a plane) in order to be with Christina, while she didn't try to stand by Derek even if it would have been difficult for her as well. However traumatising Mark's death was to all of them, I think that getting in a plane would be something much more difficult to deal with. This said I don't believe that it makes Meredith a bad person, she's dealing the best she can but I still don't like it.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I was about to say it was freaking horrible BUT! I just saw the preview for next week and we go back to the plan crash if I understand correctly SO NOW EVERYTHING IS OKAY
ReplyDeleteThough bad idea cause I was just pissed and not enjoying the episode at all for 45min (then I was too busy crying to care)
Talk about human bowling pins. They pretty much took a wrecking ball to the place. All that was needed was Dr. Stark to walk back through the doors.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't dig HAPPYBAILEY.
Well, I am extremely depressed now.
ReplyDeleteWas prepared for Mark's death and Arizona's leg being amputated, but it still hurt.
Oh God, all the flashbacks hurt. Why would you make it worse? WHY?
I loved the episode.
that was awesome!!!! Heart strings pulled and ripped out.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness I haven't cried like that since the season finale...
ReplyDeleteUmm,wow! This was a great episode, but they were a little too all over the place.
ReplyDeleteThat ending with Mark just destroyed me..at least we will get to see what happened from the time of the crash,to their rescue,to present...
LOL about the Stark. I think I'm gonna cry myself to sleep because of...Arizona. Poor Arizona. I saw Mark's death coming from miles and miles even without the articles of Eric Dane leaving, so I was prepared...But Jessica Capshaw totally killed that scene!

ReplyDeleteRIP McSteamy....shocking episode heartbreaking...felt like the good old day of Grey's
ReplyDeleteWas it just me or did Owen drop some weight? Being from rural Indiana I always enjoy seeing people's depiction of a farm. Especially Green Acres where the Douglases had a front yard that was 10 feet wide. But then again their phone was at the top of a pole.
ReplyDeletei was sad about mark i never though thats how he was going to leave
ReplyDeleteAwww man! I am still sobbing here! Mark's death was sooo sad even though i kind of saw it coming! And poor Arizona and her leg!

ReplyDeleteI cried during the entire episode. But it was still amazing. RIP, McSteamy. You're already missed.
ReplyDeleteIs it bad that I was most bothered by the fact that that was so not the Mayo clinic? Though the depiction of a MN winter was fairly accurate.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you! You must have a great life lol
ReplyDeleteWOW... i loved it.
