1. Pelant is “going to be around all season,” confirmed Nathan of the Big Bad who is currently framing Brennan for murder. “We love this guy. He’s the most interesting multiple murderer that we’ve ever had on the show. He’s going to color Season 8 a bit. 2. The twist at the end of the premiere will both temporarily conclude “the [Pelant] story” and “raise another question,” teased Nathan. “But Pelant is not going away.”
3. David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel “are currently negotiating through at least season 9,” says Nathan. “We’re pretty confident they will come to some agreement.”
4. The revolving “gang of interns” will continue to come in and out this season, said Nathan. Added Hanson: “Also, we will be meeting new interns this season, and revisiting interns we don’t see as much as we want to.”
5. “We’re very interested in meeting Booth’s mom in the back [half of the season] and having Booth’s mom meet Brennan,” previewed Nathan. “It’s time to see Booth’s family a little bit.”

I'd be more concerned about the show getting renewed again after this season and not the contracts of the leads. Bones really limped to the finish line last season with some pretty bad ratings.
I was saying the same thing when Hart Hanson talked about this at Paley Fest back in March.

ReplyDeleteWell, their a 9 year show on one of the most competitive slots on tv right now.. They will have a hard time again. I think it will be a tossp up this year, but I dont see Fox canceling them without proper notice anyway

ReplyDeleteAs of last March they were the only show on Fox that was a hit,with a large audience,so i understood why he felt that way.I feel like he jinx himself when he said that because the show did very poorly for the rest of the season.
ReplyDeleteSince they are back to a full schedule plus the 4 stand alones i can see them getting back on track.. that Monday time slot isn't that bad,at least it isn't on at 10 pm like H50,Castle and now Revelation!

ReplyDeleteThe thing with the Monday at 9 time slot is that it is going up against DWTS, CBS comedies and the Voice, all of which start on the hour before, so most people are already set at 9 when Bones starts. It would need a far better lead in than what I think Mob Doctor will provide. As it is, it is on his own and will count only with its loyal fans. This means that its audience will likely be close to its spring results (although a bit higher as it is fall), meaning that, in the end, its fate will depend on how bad the remaining FOX dramas perform and how bad the new shows for 2013 will be.

ReplyDeleteYes whatever they lose to the 9 pm slot they did pick back up at 9.30 at least they did last season. One can always find a problem with show being up against one another,not much can be done about it.Give it some time i'm sure changes will be made,what they are who knows...

Let's hope you're right! I don't feel Bones is a tired show at all, I think them being together actually revamped the show in a very good way... So let's see what happens!

ReplyDeleteI don't quite get why Booth's mom would have let her two boys be with an alcoholic father and that Pops had to rescue them from the abuse. I'll be interested to see how they explain that. Wonder who will play his mom!
