In an interview with TV Guide, Tina Fey revealed that "we're going to meet Kenneth's family : his mom will be played by Catherine O'Hara, whose 'friend' Ron will be Bryan Cranston. Kenneth and Hazel (Kristen Schaal) will be engaged in a non-sexual boyfriend-girlfriend thing".
In recent years, Bryan Cranston has 'appeared' in Robot Chicken, Archer, The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show. He also lent his voice to another animated show, Glenn Martin DDS, of which Catherine O'Hara is a series regular. Furthermore, Bryan Cranston directed episode 3.19 of Modern Family (Election Day) and the upcoming episode 9.04 of The Office (Work Bus) without appearing in them. So this will basically be his first actual role in a scripted series besides Breaking Bad since his guest spots on HIMYM in 2006 (episodes 2.06 & 2.13 as Ted's boss).

It always makes me laugh to see Bryan involved in comedy, even though I know he is the dad from Malcolm In The Middle it still comes as a shock when he does comedy. He is just so different as Walt. Mark of a great actor.
