Most crime dramas tend to be predictable if you've watched enough... even the good ones tend to get a little boring. But POI had new surprise twists and ultimately was one of the biggest surprises of last year. I can't wait to see what they have for next season.
I agree with this. POI was such a huge surprise (I recently re-read the descprition they had released prior to the pilot coming out... sounds so boring), I am really happy with it, and looking forward for it to come back!
I've always been baffled that everyone was so surprised by it last year. I wasn't surprised at all. In fact, I expected it to be a hit from the moment I saw the first promo. I saw a show that was similar to CSI and 24 and it's pretty hard to go wrong with that combination. It was like CSI, but had a very refreshing and nicely different perspective/approach to the whole "here's a murder, now solve it" concept. I don't usually watch the first seasons of shows because I like to wait to see if they make it or not before I start following them. POI was an exception. I jumped all over it quickly. Also, once I saw that one of the Nolans was the creator, that sealed the deal for me.
Knowing the show now, I can agree with you. However, I think the show was very poorly marketed, it sounded just like a very poor procedural show, I couldn't even understand the machine concept. I really ignored it last year when I saw the promos and the descriptions of new shows, because I really didn't undertand properly what it was about.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Hmm.. Is there a video in this post? It appears to be just empty space.
