Yesterday saw Game of Thrones win comfortably over Breaking Bad to earn its place in the next round, where it will do battle against Pushing Daisies, which just beat Friday Night Lights by the most slender of margins. It's safe to say Pushing Daisies has done exceptionally to reach round three, but it will face a tough challenge when it takes on the HBO epic.
Today sees the show which is at the forefront of current medical network television, Grey's Anatomy challenging J.J.Abrams sci-fi hit Fringe. This is a tough one to call as both have strong fan bases, but I expect Fringe to be the slight favourite. It was last years runner up and so defeat today would be seen as a poor showing.
Also today Firefly and Charmed do battle, as Joss Whedon's cancelled space opera shows it has legs in its fourteen episode run and 10 year absence to cause The WB's drama some issues.

It's all about Fringe today in my opinion.

ReplyDeleteSo I went with Grey's Anatomy even if I haven't been as into it lately, but I've never watched Fringe, although I do think Fringe will win. And Charmed because I've loved that show for a very long time =]

ReplyDeleteVoting against Fringe. The second half of S3 really dissapointed me. Magnets of deception. And from what I've heard about S4, I'm done with this show.
ReplyDeleteAlso I don't want Fringe in the finale. It would be really tough for Supernatural given is Fringe last year.
I'm feeling a little irrational in my voting. I definitely watched and enjoyed Charmed far longer than I did with Firefly. Charmed is still a guilty pleasure (especially Cole). So the numbers are against it, but I went with Firefly a truly awesome show.

ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone voted my combination. Fringe all the way for me, even though I do watch & am entertained by Grey's Anatomy. Charmed was entertaining for me and my siblings as well. So, I voted Fringe & Charmed, knowing full well Charmed will likely lose to Firefly.

ReplyDeleteearly years with Prue more than the later years though, at least in
terms of storytelling. Although, I did like Paige's character. And yeah,
to whoever loved Cole: ditto. I SO wished that Cole could've been
redeemed in that last season, and reunited with Phoebe somehow. I think
the addition of Kaley Cuoco's character (forgot her character's name),
ruined the show for me. Storytelling was really bad after that imo.

ReplyDeleteEasy, easy day today. I'm picking one destined to win and one destined to lose - Fringe and Charmed for me. I hate hospital dramas and while I wasn't crazy about Fringe season 4, it's be mostly win in its entirety. Charmed over Firefly because while I did watch every episode of Firefly and the movie, I still think its over hyped.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure it will even make it through to the next round.There is a very large Grey's fandom here. I watch Grey's and if it was up against any other show i would have voted for it. But when it comes to Fringe,there is no other,ha! :)

You'd be surprised. There's a lot of resentment towards Supernatural on here already and anything is liable to make it flare. That's why we try to be careful about what we say while still be honest. I don't always succeed as shown by my non-interest in Firefly.

ReplyDeleteFirefly in the second poll because it's amazing. And deserves all recognition. And I've seen a few episodes of Charmed. It's so very "WB" in style...which in the 90's I did not like. And I could not sustain any interest in the show at all.

ReplyDeleteFringe by far since how it tries to give us existential and ethical questions to think about and all the great production values. Never really seen Grey's Anatomy besides some scenes caught here and there.
And Firefly, gone before it's time but still a great concept and great execution by all involved, EXCEPT the network of course.

ReplyDeleteYeah, that last season was never suppose to happen. But money talks and well you know what walks. The last season really was unnecessary and hard to watch but I did get Victor Webster as Cupid out of it and I got see Chris and Wyatt all grown up one more time so kind of worth it.

ReplyDeleteI do understand your frustration but it has only been 2 years. It's not like HBO/Showtime/AMC always winning the Emmys.
ReplyDeleteThe beauty and the frustration. When it gets tough you'll be wishing you can vote more than once. However its the vote once principle that also makes this poll more valid than most online...and more coveted.
ReplyDeleteI know it is blasphemy but I actually care less about who wins/loses and more about what influence the contest has. Every year we get people to try Supernatural because of all the fan love it gets on here. I look more forward to reading why SPN is a show people should try than looking at the poll results. It's my hope that everyone who votes for Supernatural also leaves a comment about what it is about the show that makes them love it. The more we comment the more likely someone is to try it and that's what it's all about - winning new fans. TNT and Netflix are doing a great job of increasing the fan base and with passionate fan marketing we will see season 10. Supernatural now has 150 episodes when it was originally doubtful they would have 50. That is all because of the fans and by getting people to overcome prejudices and try it we will make it to 200 episodes. Now that it an amazing feat!

I'm soooo happy that almost everyone renewed their contracts.
When I was a kid, my friend and me, we just loved Charmed. So I'll vote for Charmed.
