POLL : Merlin - What Do You Want to See in the Films?

As it feels so quiet on the Merlin front now Comic Con is over and they are not due back at Pierrefonds until later this summer I thought I'd run a poll to see what fans are wanting to see in the proposed trilogy of films Johnny Capps has revealed. You can tick up to 3 boxes.

  1. I quite like the idea of a different cast and doing a more modern interpretation, I think holding on to the same cast for another 5-6 years is a bit naive if I'm honest, they should be allowed to go on to other projects, though the selfish part of me wants them to stay together :p

  2. The selfish part of me wants them to keep the same cast as well!

  3. If we are talking doing a couple of movies then realistically the cast could do other projects and the movies. So yeah, I would like to see the same cast otherwise to me it's not 'Merlin' it is another adaptation altogether.

  4. I think it depends on how they do the films, if they are going to be going over old ground would the actors want to be part of it is another question I have. Taking a character backwards isn't on top of most actors list of things they like to do. Plus there's the type cast stigma over their heads if they stay on, so professionally I can see why they might want to move on.

In particular I can see Katie not being a part of this; it's doubtful that she will be in S6 if it goes ahead from what I've seen online as she has her modelling career to think of too :(

  5. Certainly the same cast and continuing from where series leave off - covering the whole arthurian times epilogue.

  6. If they want to do 3 movies, I'd like it to be like this:
    - First movie pre series, about Arthur's birth and the Great Purge, dragons and dragonlords, how Balinor escaped and met Hunith (it could end with Merlin's birth).
    - The second could be in between series, about some topic that was left there in the air. For me it'd be interesting to see in the year between series 2 and 3, about what happened to Morgana, what made her change so drastically, but I'm sure there are a lot of different stories to tell.
    - The 3th one could be after the show ends, to wrap up whatever is left there hanging. If a magic reveal happens in the final episode of the series, then the movie could be about the aftermath.
I'm not so sure about recasting, because I watch the show mostly because of the cast. But I agree that they may want to move on to other projects.

Maybe is time to tell the past story.

  11. i want the same cast but with a different storyline. or a rather comprehensive storyline that cover the whole arthurian legend. plus little bit of improvement in it. i mean there is so much loophole in the drama. i wish they can make up to that. especially on Lancelot part as well as gwen love for Arthur. i mean come on. how can gwen move to Arthur from Lancelot just like that. poor written story there.

  12. I wonder if it isn't a bit too ambitious to plan a trilogy right from the start. It would not only take a long time to complete (would the young cast really want to commit that long??) but writers might be stretched coming up with 3 good storylines.
I do not think I would want to watch a Merlin film without Colin or Bradley. They are at the core of the success of this show. I would prefer to see a continuation of Merlin's story rather than revisiting old ground. The producers cannot set the clock back to make the actors look as young as they did when they filmed season 1. It would feel weird to see them pretend to be that young again when they are clearly a lot more mature now.
