Nikita - Season 3 - Devon Sawa Promoted To Series Regular

Nikita‘s third season is still many months away, but it’s already shaping up to be the best yet.

Recurring player Devon Sawa has been promoted to series regular in Season 3, TVLine has learned exclusively.

“We are very happy about the return of Owen and looking forward to the excitement he will bring to an already exciting cast,” Nikita creator and showrunner Craig Silverstein tells TVLine about the upgrade.

Sawa, who plays endearing and good-hearted Guardian Owen Elliot, has appeared sporadically on the CW spy thriller since early in its run. He quickly became a favorite among fans, despite their typical leeriness toward new male characters who might pose a threat to the show’s core couple, Michael and Nikita. Sawa isn’t the only Nikita vet getting a bump in the coming season. As previously reported, Noah Bean’s stalwart CIA agent Ryan Fletcher was made a series regular shortly after Season 2 wrapped.

Nikita’s Season 3 premieres Friday, Oct. 19, at 8/7c.

    Cool. After they upped Bean to a regular I didn't think they'd have it in the budget to make Sawa a regular too. Anyway, I approve.

    I wasn't to thrilled about season 3 due to the lack of Percy, but having Ryan and Owen as regulars has me excited again. Bring on season 3!

    Writers: We need two more regulars this season.
    -Producer: Not happening. We can only have one.
    Writers: But we need two.
    -Producer: But there's only budget for one...
    Writers: What would it take to get two more regulars this season?
    -Producer: A magic wand that creates money. I hear the OUAT Producers are trying to make one to increase their nonexistent CG budget. Considering the consistency of their first season in that department, I'm going to say they failed. Big time.

    LMAO. One thing that bothers me with OUAT is the disastrous CG and also the production value. Sometimes the costumes and locations look and feel weird and it makes it harder to buy the show. The show is making money,give them better CG and production value, ABC!

    Yes!!! I love Owen. As long as they don't try Nikita/Owen (he DID kill her fiancee) I'm happy with more Owen on my screen.

    Yay! I've like Owen since he first appeared on the show. Personally thought he should've been made a regular last season, but since it was so packed full of story, guess they couldn't really fit Owen in the story too much. I actually really liked Nikita & Owen's chemistry and was hoping the show would test these two out before putting Nikita with Michael so fast. Still, I'm looking to the great onscreen chemistry between Nikita & Owen, even if it's as friends. Great news!
