Marvel Studios is targeting Zachary Levi to join the cast of Thor 2. He would replace Josh Dallas in the film. Dallas played Fandral, one of the Warriors Three in Thor, but is bowing out of the sequel to the 2011 hit movie due to his commitments to the ABC show Once Upon a Time.
Levi’s involvement may blessed by the gods, however. He was in talks to originally play the role in 2010 but had to bow out when his cult NBC show Chuck got a last-minute reprieve from cancellation and an episode extension.

As much as I wanted Josh to return, he has OUAT and Zac would be awesome. I love this casting!
ReplyDeleteIrony. But in the best possible way. We get to see both guys in the Thor movies, and Levi didn't have to take time away from Chuck, and Dallas didn't have to miss OUAT. Plus, we might get to see Levi as a blonde, which sounds hilarious. Works for me all around.

ReplyDeleteI had felt for him for losing that role in a big fun action movie and always wondered when he would get another similar chance. He really must have impressed the casting crew, because he does not look a bit like Josh Dallas (even as a blonde) in order to replace him.
Plus: he will be very weird as a blonde. Very weird. Like blonde Ted Mosby.

ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the headline I thought Levi might actually give me reason to want to see Thor 2 since I wasn't a huge fan of the first one, but then I read the casting... After 5 years of Chuck and even more time in interviews, it's going to be hard for me to not see him as just a regular human. Seeing him as an Asgardian might take me out of the movie quite a bit, I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for Zac if it happens - would love to see him part of the Marvel universe. I mean I didn't even realise until I read this a couple of days ago that Fandral was played by Josh Dallas he looks so different with that Shakespeare beard!

ReplyDeleteThat's... surprising in a very unsurprising way. I'm really, REALLY sad that Josh won't come back - especially since I hate his character on OUaT so I wouldn't care if he didn't appear in some episodes (a lot? sounds good) - but Zachary Levi might be interesting to see. Mostly because I can't even imagine him as a blonde. Oh, well. We'll see, I guess.
