Monk - Rumor: No TV Movie?!

Prestory: Monk to Return to TV in 2-hour Movie

Note: I do not know if this is a confirmed news (actually, it's not!) So beware, while reading.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Monk movie is not gonna happen. According to Monk writer Hy Conrad, "There isn't going to be one. USA paid for Andy to write two scripts. The first, where Monk gets married and goes to France, only to have his new wife try to kill him, got shot down for creative reasons. It seemed like too much of a departure.

The second, "Mr. Monk for Mayor", involved Natalie and Stottlemeyer but not Disher. Molly has become an investigative reporter like her mother and wants to expose a scandal at City Hall. But the only way to get that information is to get inside the mayor's office - hence Monk's decision to run for mayor.

USA crunched the numbers and decided that to film the movie and then to promote it would cost about 6 million and that it wouldn't be worth it. Andy is onto two new projects, an hour-long mystery series about twin brothers, one of whom is supposed to be dead. They wind up both sharing the "living" brother's life as they solve crimes. Another comedy mystery. His other is a half-hour comedy with Dana Carvey. Both are in early stages, so anything can happen."

  3. Both Monk movie scripts sound bad, but none as crappy as his new endeavours. The first one is Ringer with detective siblings and I hate Dana Carvey, so I won't be checking those out.

  6. 1st of all they don't need disher. He's a chief in jersey. Monk for mayor where he runs but not necessarily becomes mayor. Sounds good. $6million that's it? USA can't afford $6mil...advertise and promote? Hello! This is the social media era and will cost you nothing. Make this happen! Do a wings reunion while you're add it.

  7. you can't do this to me, you just can't. there were only 8 seasons, and I think to be fair there should be 10. You can afford it, have wet wipes sponsor you. I can guarantee a box office hit, because you have given the audience room to fantasize for about 4 years, and I think its about time that you let there pent up emotions be taken out of their wallets. Think about it, don't end on a flat note and don't make a sequel or trilogy or anything. Just do what must be done, solve the case. Who killed TV. I don't want monk on the job 24/7. Only for 2 more seasons or a two hour long movie.

  11. Typical lies they tell people for what reason? TO GET THEM TO BUY THE DVD'S.

Most people won't download stuff off the internet, understandable. They put the idea of more Monk in your head, and take it away. You need to get that fix somehow, right? Well how? DVDs!!!!

Typical TV bullshit. They did this with The Shield too.
