NBC has found its Lily Munster in Portia de Rossi.

The former Better Off Ted and Arrested Development star has joined the network's drama pilot Mockingbird Lane as the matriarch of the Munster family, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

De Rossi, whose ABC comedy pilot The Smart One was passed over at the network in May, will play the vampire bride to Herman Munster (Jerry O'Connell) and the daughter of Eddie Izzard's Grandpa Munster.

  3. That's much better casting than Jerry O'Connell. And I say this as someone who loves him.

  4. Wow, NBC is really pulling out all the stops on this.  That's a murder's row of talent so far.  It'll be feast or famine with this show, to say the least.

  6. I think I am more excited by the idea of Eddie Izzard as Grandpa Munster than either De Rossi or O'Connell honestly.... The cast is filling out VERY nicely though and this has gone from an unlikely watch to worth a look for a few episodes at least.

Although I still stand by all my earlier preconceptions of the series..... Really? Why remake this? Can it be modernized and still keep the outdated campy charm?

  9. I was hoping for Marianna Klaveno, guess the dull sounding Devious Maids wouldn't let her go :(

I LOVE Portia De Rossi.  I think she is absolutely BRILLIANT!.  This show is going to bomb so spectacularly it will make history.

  11. They had me at "Eddie Izzard" too but PDR is definitelly a factor that tipped the scale towards "way interested" (O'Connell not so much...)

I have good hopes for this show. A huge part of good TV is execution. And the people that are on board usually deliver. Brian Fuller is tallented, Eddie Izzard is a genius, Portia is stellar... it could be good. I'll wait and see of course, but I think there are good enough reasons to be oprimistic, or at least have a positive approach to the project.

  12. Portia is a very good choice. She can pull off almost anything (comedy wise ate least).

  13. Hate to say this with all the talent they cast, the show will still flop. It's a remake and it's going to end up having very low ratings, plus the remake plot sounds very stupid. Enough with the remakes, this show was a classic this remake will just tank instantly.
